If you haven’t been fucking paying attention for the last 12 months maybe you should take a step back from the boards for a minute.

Thanks for the kind response.

What recruitments have been on the 1 yard line that were fumbled? Only one I can think of is Bryce Anderson. Looking forward to another kind response.

If you care enough about the situation, it might be time to start shitting yourself about the Mathis recruitment. Probably not time, but in the words of the poet and scholar Marky Mark, “yo, it’s about that time!”

He'll come back to us once he sits down and listens to GP's mix tape

Bryce Anderson was wishy washy from the jump. He wanted to be a part of a top level class. Even if he committed here, he probably flips to aggy when their bags started really manifesting.

Maybe he's referring to the lack of bag action that lost guys like Denver Harris or Evan Stewart.

Or maybe he's referring to Jeremy Patton? Idk

Perhaps, but I don’t know that I would have classified either Harris’ or Stewart’s recruitment as being on the 1 yard line for Texas at any point.

If Jeremey Patton was one then we should be glad we fumbled. He had a bad senior year and wasn’t a take by the end of the cycle.

Evan Stewart was committed to Texas at one point, but he doesn’t count as being on the 1 yard line at any point?

Is this like when you claimed PFF ranked Kennedy Brooks the #3 RB in 2020 when he didn’t play because you saw a tweet of them saying he was a top 5 back entering 2021?

Exactly the same. Right on the money.

Evan Stewart recruitment was on the 25 yard line, fumbled forward into the endzone as we attempted to get Andre Coleman an improbable TD, the ball bounced around in the endzone for the unforgettable 2 and half weeks he was committed and then returned 101 yards the other way for a TD.

Not sure you really believe that recruitment was ever on the 1 yd line.

We're you shocked when he de-committed?

Man that 2019 class was such a disaster. Six of the top 7 ranked guys are not with the team anymore, and the one that's left is constantly injured.

i am still bummed out by De'Gabriel Floyd's injury :(

that top 10 in the class though..woah.

image.thumb.png.ff1d901a11d5208335d39dd74ec64f05.png

edit: i accidentally put an arrow on Liebrock, ignore that

plus Chris Adimora, Derrian Brown, Javonne Shepherd, Marcus Tillman, Mpagi, Caleb Johnson, Kennedy Lewis, Marques Caldwell, Jared Wiley, Tyler Johnson, Juwan Mitchell

lose 3 guys to injuries (Mpagi, Brown, Floyd)

lose a million dudes to the portal (McCoy, Smith, Johnson, Owens, Shepherd, Watson, Adimora, Tillman, Johnson, Lewis, Caldwell, Wiley, Johnson, Mitchell

the entire class ends up with Whittington, Washington, RoJo, Sweat, Wiley, Jacoby Jones ever playing significant snaps? like a 20% hit rate on the class? with almost 60% of the class hitting the portal?

if Texas can't win the Mathis recruitment with GP on board he may be a sleeper agent who is going to sweat us to death from within.

It's insane. I'm sure Johnson technically played some garbage snaps here and there, but for all intents and purposes, 3 of the top 5 recruits from that class never even stepped on the field for us.

Who would you even say is the "best" player from that class? I'd say the top 3 are Whittington (great talent, always injured), RoJo (great Longhorn and team leader, but essentially just a backup RB), or Sweat (a competent P5 DT and not much more). If that's the top 3 guys you get from a 26-man class, you're gonna have a bad time.

RoJo good, can't fault him for behind Bijan, so that backup tag is a little misleading. He's averaged 5.3, 5.2, 5.9 ypc in his first three years

The amount of talent brought in by this staff last weekend and this weekend is borderline insane. We never saw anything like this under Herman or Strong.

Well this is just not true. Herman's pool party in 2018 was loaded and look at the (incomplete) visitor list for the 2020 Elite Day. Hell I'd say that it's a red flag if a coach can't put together a weekend like this most years in the spring.

40% by quantity, sure, and it's an incomplete list

Sark isn't the first to have a bunch of talented dudes visit. Hell, Herman landed like fifteen 4 stars in 2 months in summer of 2020. That's a lot more impressive than anything Sark has done in recruiting and he was fired within six months. And I'm not bashing Sark. I'd give him a solid B+ (in recruiting) so far. Let's just keep narratives honest

Lol at Josh White telling $9.95ers he was going to take his time with the transfer recruiting process. It was known he was going to Baylor Aranda.

Well, we can tell ourselves this and act like we don’t give a shit. Then again, I think about the part where our linebackers are hot garbage and the staff both really wanted this guy and felt like they were going to get him. It’s at that point in which I would like to kick each and everyone of you buffoons as hard in the nuts as I can.

I think I care. Not that I was sold on Josh White, but I am confident that we are pretty crappy at linebacker. Even if we could cobble together Ford, Gbenda, and Overshown into something average we are bound to lose someone as the season progresses.

I'm as desperate as the rest of you for Derrick Johnson 2.0 to enter the portal, and announce he's coming to Texas.

But I'm not gonna get pissed when Aranda (the defensive coordinator that recruited White to LSU) goes and recruits him into the portal to come to Baylor.

We can rationalize our feelings about White until we're blue in the face, I don't give a shit. It's not the end of the world or anything. It's merely another defeat for the defensive side of this staff. This defensive staff has taken more shafts than Ava Addams and Janet Mason at a lumberjack convention.

Also, shout out to whichever idiot DC we had during the recruitment of White. He wanted to commit early to Texas had we offered, but either Orlando or Ash felt like he was "too short, even if the skills are there." Jarheaded fucking clowns.

Felt they were going to get the guy that never even visited? Weird

Though he did say he wanted to take his time and make sure he got it absolutely right this time, but he never got a chance to play for the guy he really fell for during his initial process. Now he has it.

White going anywhere but Baylor would have been an upset. Not sure he even had a prior relationship with any coaches on our staff.

That's what he does best. It's not like Texas didn't just get a commit from one of the best off ball LBs in the state.

I’m still confused why we passed on some of those other LBs that were in the portal. Here is to hoping some post spring transfers gif the market before the portal deadline.

I would have to think there are better LB's than Jaylen Moody, Mccaskill and the dude from Vandy who will enter the portal over the next month and a half or so. We will see.

Was there anyone else I'm missing on LB so far that we showed interest in? The UNLV guy was an edge player and the guy from CMU I think was a safety but maybe I'm not remembering right.
