That’s why the Texas-ou rivalry is so much better. There is a mutual hate/respect. Aggy isn’t respected by anyone.

These fuckers are so hilarious when it comes to the TV thing.

Texas averaged a 2.7 share and over 4.2M their 11 non LHN games.

aggy averaged a 1.8 and 3.0M over their 10 non SECN games.

The only times those fuckers beat Texas in the ratings was week 4, when we beat TCU and they lost at Alabama.

Texas also had 3 games rated higher than their peak rated game against Bama. The RRR, Big 12 CG, and Sugar Bowl.

Texas nearly had twice the amount of total viewers in their 3 highest rated games compared to aggy, 29.2M to 15.3M.

26 years without a win in a CWS game.

When the ags last won a CWS game, their current head coach was fresh out of college and working as an assistant coach at a small, private school. None of the other members of their baseball coaching staff was even out of junior high school.

A&M always wins. That is the #1 rule of A&M. That establishes a smug sense of success without actually having any success.

This is the 2019 Acceptance Rate numbers.  UT and A&M have almost the same percentage  of admission yield, but UT accepts 39.66% and A&M accepts 71.03%.  A&M is 19th behind UT, UTD, Tech.  They do barely edge out Texas State.

UT Dallas is a 61.94% acceptance for 2019 which is better than A&M by about 10% but if you pull a school comparison list UTD's acceptance rate jumps to what was listed above.  I believe that number may be a multi-year blended rate for the school and not a single year (2019) percentage.

This is the website I used:

Aspirations of the applicants. You guys are presuming that the same number of people have an interest in ATM that have an interest in Texas. Wrong.

No, I was just thinking that because A&M is so easy to get into and its academic reputation hasn't appropriately cratered yet, they'd get more applicants than we would, as a safety school if nothing else.

Foot traffic, for lack of a better word, like the McDonald's of higher education they aspire to be.

Probably the most telling is the average SAT/ACT of admitted students.

If you're going by that metric, UTD is higher than A&M. My sister's kid goes to UTD and loves it apparently. I don't think he's experienced vagina yet but he loves computers.

To be fair, you really don't have to twist things around to put OU in a bad light.  The bare truth is quite bad enough.

They have solid CS and engineering programs.

He's a CS and Economics double major. From what my sister told me, both of those programs are extremely good at UTD. He got scholarships so she and my brother in law aren't complaining.

I wish I had older data from before the not-so-sharp era, but IPEDS does not have it

but this shows the # of applicants to aggy, the average of applicants to their "peers" and the same for UT and UT peers (I believe the university chooses their peers)

the aggy "peers" are

Georgia Institute of Technology-Main Campus (Atlanta, GA)
Indiana University-Bloomington (Richmond, IN)
Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI)
Ohio State University-Main Campus (Columbus, OH)
Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus (University Park, PA)
Purdue University-Main Campus (West Lafayette, IN)
The University of Texas at Austin (Austin, TX)
University of California-Berkeley (Berkeley, CA)
University of California-Davis (Davis, CA)
University of California-Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)
University of California-San Diego (La Jolla, CA)
University of Florida (Gainesville, FL)
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Champaign, IL)
University of Maryland-College Park (College Park, MD)
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (Ann Arbor, MI)
University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (Minneapolis, MN)
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC)
University of Washington-Seattle Campus (Seattle, WA)
University of Wisconsin-Madison (Madison, WI)

and UT peers

Indiana University-Bloomington (Richmond, IN)
Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI)
Ohio State University-Main Campus (Columbus, OH)
Pennsylvania State University-Main Campus (University Park, PA)
Purdue University-Main Campus (West Lafayette, IN)

as I said I wish I had older data before the "we gotta grow more good bull ags" era started, but it does seem funny that a university with a goal of growing to "meet the needs of Texans" is getting more applicants and yet more and more students that are admitted are making a CHOICE to go elsewhere after being admitted

over those 4 years they enrolled about 700 more students, but about 2,400 more made a CHOICE to go elsewhere.....strangely total enrollment has grown by about 7,900....I will have to look at the retention numbers, but I doubt the could have moved that much to explain that

that would lead me to believe that it is taking longer for degree completion because of difficulty getting classes and aggy is gaming the system with blinn team and transfers to not totally shit out their admissions

and I know I have stated this before, but acceptance % is a meaningless statistic and that was even discussed in an article about OU cheating the US Snooze (on something pretty minor)....the article specifically mentioned that Clemson and others were improving their acceptance rate by simply opening up applications and lowering the fee (or eliminating it) so they could draw more applicants and specifically unqualified applicants that they could then decline (which is all acceptance rate tells)

still funny to get only 700 new enrolled students over 4 years while getting over 4,500 more applicants and having 2,400 more CHOOSE to go elsewhere after admission over that same period while having the goal to grow enrollment massively to keep more good bull whoop ags in Texas

the stats are not totally damning, but you also have to question the overall enrollment growth and how that happened while the "reported" stats say enrollment should have not grown near that much

I'm talking TV ratings smack though.  As usual, aggy takes it to a place no other fan base would even think to go.  I suppose 78 years of failure will do that to you.

I'm sure our ratings are higher not only because we're awesome and they suck, but I'll bet more aggy watch our games than our fans watch their games.

Hell, didn't Looch admit to being at our home game vs USC?

I think the answer to your question is that 33.5% of graduates complete 30 hours or more at 2 year colleges.  That would indicate that a significant number of students are transfers from JUCO or community college and are not included in the admission statistics.  See page 35 of the THECB Report:  http://www.thecb.state.tx.us/reports/PDF/10900.PDF?CFID=100201713&CFTOKEN=13270898

That number for UT - Austin is 16.8%.  Most state schools in Texas are roughly in the same range as A&M give or take 5 percentage points.

You are giving a lot of credence to the notion that people think ATM has a strong academic rep. People have a high opinion of their engineering and vet programs, and that is it. That’s always been the case. They’ve been viewed on par with Texas by anyone without a dog in the fight - that I’ve ever met, at least.
