Shit

I never said it did.  But it is not true that they are ignoring his change of position on Epstein.  They aren’t ignoring it. They are pissed.

Will they be pissed enough not to support him?

That is an entirely different question, and the answer is - no.

Will they show up at the polls next year without Trump at the top of the ticket, and with all of the Epstein/Maxwell stuff that will come out in the next 11 months?  Many sure as well won't be excited.

They will. The evil and cruelty has them excited to a near sexual frenzy. Hatred and evil are a real motivation.

The MAGA in my family are losing a bit of steam. Granted, about half my family is rural and of that, putting aside the olds, a lot of them are either in agriculture or rely upon it on some way (bank employees, auto dealers, etc. in the surrounding areas).  DOGE really fucked around with some of them - I don't think they paid attention to who was buying their product down the line in the past. Of course, they don't grumble about Trump, but instead about Leon, but I like to remind some of them who put Leon in there, and that if Vance's crew get their way, DOGE will be nothing compared to what they will do.

And that's before tariffs really take their toll.

“I have heard nothing from the DoJ and they have provided me no updates to give to my clients. I have even sent a letter to the committee chair volunteering to speak with them about the original investigation and litigation. This letter was completely ignored,” Kuvin said. “It is appalling that the federal government is again failing to keep the victims at the center of this investigation. Instead, it appears that all the government is interested in is attempting to whitewash the prior investigation.”

“Not only has the DoJ refused to engage survivors, but they obstructed routine and valid requests for information. In January 2025, in response to a basic Foia [Freedom of Information Act] request, the government informed us that they would respond by November 2027 – nearly three years later. That’s abysmal and completely unacceptable.”

As I've said before, I have more respect for MAGA diehards than people like the DT safe space Trump voters that continue to quietly support him and conveniently disappear when the shit hits the fan. The latter deserve more blame for this country falling apart, as moral cowardice is way worse than plain stupidity.

Fuck em all, personally.

I was talking to someone I’ve known since the 70s, my older brother’s college roommate.   He lives in Florida and the subject of Florida no longer requiring your kids to vaccinate to go to school was raised.

He knows this one young man who was anti-vaccine and will not let his daughter be vaccinated with anything. I told him that if the daughter winds up with polio or some lifetime disabling disease that someone needs to give dad the Mussolini treatment.   He instantly got offended and said he was a good man. He was just not smart in the ways of vaccines.    I said that’s the problem with you MAGAs - you literally will forgive someone destroying his daughter‘s life or killing her because he refuses to educate himself on a topic where he knows there are two sides.    He told me, “I don’t wanna talk politics, maybe we’ll talk later” and hung up on me.

He doesn’t know it yet, but that’s the last discussion I’m ever having with him on anything.  He’s the biggest misogynist you could ever find, his dad was a flat racist wife beater, and his whole world is now involved around his re-found evangelical Christianity.

I guess he falls into the category of people you don’t necessarily respect that much, but have known for 50 years.    Well, I know him, but I’m no longer going to interact with him.    Not surprisingly, I’m one of the few people who will still talk to him - other than his friends at church who hate the crime inclined Mexicans - and who are deathly afraid of trans people.  Like Jesus said to do.

edit: I know this is not the vaccine thread, but my post was in a response to the issue of people being not as bad due to stupidity instead of moral cowardice.    I don’t care why you support things that will cause other people to be injured and or die unnecessarily.   If you support those things then decent people should tell you -“You are not one of the decent people.  Go live your life amongst the scum.  You do not deserve the friendship of decent people.”

I have moved to the realization that not shaming people for their loathsome views is actually rewarding and enabling them - as going on with their life without consequences of any kind for their beliefs is actually the decent people enabling their views via a lack of condemnation.

So much fucking this.

Neither am I.

But I am smart enough to know what I do and don't know and defer to experts.  That's their problem - their Facebook PhD does not make them smart in XYZ, yet they believe they are.

Highest words of praise my no-nonsense, S. Texas rancher/oil patch bum grandfather ever had for me: "You know, old Brisket's gonna do alright.  He's smart enough to know how dumb he is."

That is a central element of success in this world.  Be smart enough to know how dumb you are.  I educated myself with my electrocardiologist.  I worked to understand the procedure he recommended, and he did a good job explaining it.  But at the end of that conversation, he was still the expert with 1,500 of these procedures under his belt, and I was just another dude with an electrical issue with my heart.  It came down to "if this was you, would you undergo the procedure?", and deferring to his expertise.  Like I defer to the pilot's expertise every time I get on a plane, etc. etc.

I'm a smart enough guy.  But I'm also smart enough to know that what one gains through years of education and decades of experience can't be replicated by a few hours of watching fucking Youtube videos by some fucking quack.  That intelligence/wisdom apparently puts me at the upper echelon of American thinking these days.  And if that is true....dear god is this country fucked, because as smart as I am, I'm still a fucking idiot.

That and there's always some charlatan with a degree who is willing to spout bullshit. And then the idiot will claim that the science isn't settled or that there is legitimate opposing evidence.

This is basically the result of almost a century of oil and tobacco industry bullshit. All disciples of Ivy Lee. Running a psyop campaign on everyday Americans.

That is fucking diabolical insanity.  Truly, of all the shitty things he's said, that's up there near the top.

What that translates to is "my uneducated idiocy is as valid as your educated and experience-based expertise."  FFS, apply that to....cardiologists, pilots, electricians, structural engineers....the list is nearly infinite.  "Those pointy-headed experts say this building needs steel beams for support, but my internet research showed a multi-story building held up with popsicle sticks.  My plan will save us millions, and I'm not getting any kickbacks from 'big steel' like that expert dude surely is!"
