He was ridiculously hyped and that created some crazy expectations. He made it cool for talented players to come to Texas at every position. I doubt Banks comes without Quinn. I don’t think he was a bad teammate or dickhead, but he seemed to be made of glass.

Kelvin Banks is from Humble and was originally committed to Oregon. He came here after Mario Cristobal split to Miami. It’s a stretch to say he chose Texas because of Quinn.

NFL front offices validating those of us who thought Sark should have pulled the cord on Quinn after the Georgia debacle…I don’t think he ever really elevated the talent here, although he’s a great personal representation of the program. Will always wonder “what-if” with Arch getting snaps during a soft stretch of the schedule leading into the CFP.

I think most people, even Ewers supporters, think he’d be a quality backup at best. I don’t see anyone thinking he’ll be playing significantly.

Oh fuck, behind Tua???? Jk this dude’s playing 10 games year one.

The issue with this logic is where could he have gone that was nearly as QB friendly as what Texas had? He had multiple draft picks in every position and still struggled, whether due to injury or not.

I hope he has a long career as a backup, but he was never going to live up to his billing. Still brought us back to the big leagues, so love him for that, but it’s the truth.

He would have made more in NIL than what he is going to make as an UDFA. I think that's the point she is making.

Good spot for him. Cerebral offense minded coach and Zach Wilson is the only other QB currently on the roster

Edit…surely everyone knows I meant “only” other than Tua

Eh. Coulda been worse. Dude just gets hurt too easily and when he's banged up he isn't the same. That's why he fell.

I'm sure Tua will be dinged sooner than later and we can see him underthrow Tyreek.

Injuries factored into it, sure but the main reason is he just isn't that great of a QB.

Quinn is a practice / camp arm for this year.

It would be shocking if he played a regular snap this season. And if he does, the head coach is fired during/after this season.

I was actually thinking Miami would be a good spot for him before the draft so I like that landing spot but damn, I did not expect him to drop so far behind guys like Mertz. He and Cam Williams should have stayed in school

I wonder if he wasn’t really welcomed to stay? God knows, I’d hate to deal with the Arch stuff. That said, yeah, he should have taken an NIL deal.

At this point, not sure it would have mattered. He is who he is. Looks great at times but not enough. And this was against college defenses and speed with a stacked offense. Also, this QB class was extremely pedestrian. If you are drafted this low in this class, that says a lot about what scouts are seeing. They are unbiased and care zero about Texas. Too many on here discuss Quinn with burnt orange glasses and understandable. All the flaws so many were talking about in this thread over his tenure here, were main reasons why he was drafted so low. Quinn was not even close to the reasons why Texas got as far as they did the last 2 seasons but he was one of the main reasons why the season ended in the semifinals round, though. And the main reason they couldn't win the SEC against a spare Georgia backup.

Several “isn’t that great” QBs went before him which I find puzzling.
Maybe this year was such a down year for QB that a lot of teams went into the draft having already made the decision not to reach for a QB?

Sucks for him and is a real blow to the ego but whatever round you get drafted, you’ll get a chance.  If you were good enough, it’ll be redemption.  If you aren’t, your low draft pick will be justified.
Hopefully at the very least the arm will keep him on a roster as a backup even if his size and durability prevent him from having a chance to start.

He doesn't have good arm, he's wildly inconsistent and he's always hurt. He hasn't had a fully healthy season since a sophomore in HS. This isn't

Or, maybe, just perhaps, Quinn just isn't as good as many Longhorns here seem to think and isn't really NFL material for a variety of reasons.

Incredible point! If only I had posted something about his limited ability.  Maybe something like deep balls. I’m just spitballing here.

He literally said his deep ball is an issue.
