Laugh at Greg Davis all you want, but that motherfucker could manage the clock and call a last possession drive to win a 1 score game.  I can think of a few instances in the last couple of years where that could have come in handy.

Yes both times they scored with too much time on the clock. In 2008 we scored a TD too fast. At 2023 OU if we would have scored a TD instead of settling for a FG, the game could’ve gone to OT.

He’s what everybody thought he was,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said, regarding Manning, ahead of the SEC Championship. “He’s athletic, smart, thick. Great thrower. He can run their entire offense, while at the same time creating designed runs, or off-schedule runs. Both are scary. Because designed runs, with him, are tough to defend, because you’re having to defend the whole field. And then he’s also an elite thrower and passer. I mean, he’s a great player.

Well, hell... if Kirby's afraid of him, we're in the driver's seat, right? Right? C'mon, Sark... tell me that's right?

Did GD tell those two dbs to run away from Crabtree?

Of course he didn't. But he did tell Blake Gideon to drop the INT.

Not Texags. They know he’s a 3* masquerading as a 5* because of his name.

Blake Gideon told GDGD to run a slow developing play deep in our EZ in the first half

What if I told you Blake Gideon told Sark to run the sack play on 3rd down just inside FG range?

Posted

What if I told you the play on defense was if Tech got a completion, hold the receiver up, don't tackle him and don't let him get out of bounds... let the clock run out. We had a 1-point lead, Tech had a timeout left and a FG would win it for them.

After all, their kicker was a student who had won a contest the Pirate held to find someone, anyone, who could actually kick a field goal. It's too bad it didn't end that way (would rather we win, but...) because Tech would have had REAL Twelfth Man to shove in aggy's face.

Make no mistake, that game was not lost by Blake Gideon or by the Crabtree catch, it was lost by Mack Brown on our first few possessions, insisting on following his script regardless of personnel, score or even field position. We opened up with what looked like a draw, with the ball on our own goal line - around the 2 - and handing the ball to a running back standing still 7 or 8 yards in the end zone. Safety, duh. Gave up 2 points on our first play. We were down 19-0 before we put up a single point, and buried at the half 22-6.

I know this is the Arch thread, but one more thing needs to be said:

Fuck Mack Brown

Arch Madness has been in full affect for the entirety of the 2024 football season.

Despite starting only a pair of games and showing flashes of brilliance in his other appearances, Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning has been one of the biggest topics of conversation in college football over the last few weeks.

For now, he remains the backup, with the consensus being that he will take over as the full-time starter in 2025 once Quinn Ewers heads to the NFL. But, even with his limited number of reps as a starter, the hype has already reached astounding heights.

So much so, in fact, that Manning has already taken an early lead with the oddsmakers as the favorite for the 2025 Heisman Trophy.

You can check out the odds for the top 12 players below, per BetOnline.Ag:

Arch Manning +600

Garrett Nussmeier +800

John Mateer +900

Drew Allar +1000

DJ Lagway +1100

Kevin Jennings +1200

Lanorris Sellers +1200

Nico Iamaleava +1200

Cade Klubnik +1400

Conner Weigman +1600

Sam Leavitt +1800

Jackson Arnold +2500

Obviously what stands out the most on this list is that Manning - who leads the pack - has fewer starts under his belt by quite a large margin than any other player in the field. In fact, you have to get all the way down to the player with the player with the 22nd best odds, Michigan true freshman Bryce Underwood, to find one with less starts than Manning.

In total, Manning has seen action in eight games this season, going 61 of 90 passing for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions along with 21 carries for 100 yards and four scores on the ground.

That said, Manning's dual-threat ability gives him a leg-up over some other quarterbacks like Allar and Nussmeier. Of course, Jennings, Sellers, Klubnik and Leavitt offer their own bit of juice in that regard, but Manning's combination of mobility and elite arm talent is certainly something special.

Another thing Manning has working in his favor is his immense star power, marketability and swagger, which alongside the exciting things he can do with the ball in his hands, make it very difficult to imagine him not being in contention for the award if things go the way most people expect.

Manning and No. 5 Texas will face Klubnik and Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff in Austin on Saturday.

The fact that crucified Messiah Weigman is on the board while Texags odds-on favorite current Messiah Marcel Reed is not is beautiful.

That list is missing Quinn Ewers.

Since our RZ offense has been atrocious and we have seen what Arch can do in the RZ, there is no reason not to play him if Quinn continues to come up empty. Also, don't just play Arch for a snap or two. Let him get settled. It will not only help us this year but will also get him ready for tOSU next year.

Arch is 6'4 235 lbs. There is absolutely zero reason we should not be using him in a package in every game at some point. The fact that he's sitting on the bench rotting away has me questioning if Sark is afraid of hurting feelings or some shit. Arch isn't fragile. I'm not saying let the kid play an entire quarter, but put him in the RZ and let him eat.

honestly my top would probably be

1. Sellers - has some real game experience behind him and legit

2. Lagaway - similar

3. Drew Allar - experienced , maybe Penn State pulls some offense out of their ass finally

4. Arch Manning - maybe he games out, but we'll have to see how a full off season gets him ready

beyond that its a bit of a crapshoot , i think any list that has weigman , arnold, or mateer (lost to a 2-9 wyoming) is a bid ridiculous but hey why wait until the offseason for dumb content

Bro, Arch is winning it. Why, you ask? Thanks for asking.

Because he's superhuman. He's leading us to the promised land again after we win it this year. But what's different is he'll be a RS soph, so he'll win us 3 in a row because he's not leaving early. He'll be the first freak athlete to win 3 Heisman trophy's in a row.

He also repeatedly took the snap with 10+ seconds left on the play clock, which he should have known better AND coaches should have been screaming at him to remind him.

Guy on radio: Drew Allar could be the #1 qb taken this year if he enters the draft.  Why wait till 2026 and get into the Arch Manning draft?

I would be shocked if Arch only starts for one year at Texas.  The media is gonna run with it, but I don't think that's his plan.
