His BET interview last night wasn’t…..well, it wasn’t good

At this point, I don't get him trying to stay in.  He has to know -- or the sycophants around him have to know -- that he can't make a public appearance.  He's getting D- at best at every one now.  How are you going to have a campaign and you can't do anything in public without embarrassing yourself?  He can't make it through the weekend even, in my opinion.

If you are under immense pressure to seem sharp, and you go on BET for an interview and mix up Ketanji Brown with Sec Def Austin, you committed an unacceptable fuck up.  It’s over, Joe.

I think there are valid strategic reasons to not drop out today and let the Republicans focus on the new candidate at the RNC where they have the mic and the country's attention.

Which means the Dems are likely just stupidly counting their belly button hairs before making a decision here.

I don't avoid the fact that these slip-ups exist (*cough*like R's*cough*), but I can't watch them. It's like watching Michael Scott's cringiest moments. And if I solid D voter like me can't handle watching him speak, I don't know how you keep throwing him out there and expect him to gain any ground.

Yeah, I was thinking on it this morning and waiting until the RNC is over and then basically a month of press until the DNC is not a bad idea.

He was talking about Austin and Brown consecutively. And he said he appointed "a Black man" not "the Black man," but his speech pattern is still slow and mumbled. If he's going to be replaced, just fucking do it already, but stop focusing on every goddamned syllable and using misleading transcripts.

Didnt appeal to blacks, not moderate enough for never-Trumpers, not male enough for sexists.

This-all her support came from highly educated middle aged white people who default into “if the other side just gets hits in the face with logic and facts they’ll compromise.”  Unfortunately that’s not what the greater electorate was seeking.

Yeah, that was old and stutter coming into play, not any memory confusion.

Looked to me like he couldn't come up with his name. It happens (Charlie Strong once couldn't remember Swoopes' name), but he's sort of under a microscope for that shit now.

That seems exaggerated.  That doesn't look like a memory slip to me as implied by the transcript.

Tim Apple thinks it’s hilarious.

I mean this is basically dollars on sale for 86 cents. With the existing timetable there is zero chance of a replacement outside of Harris.

Harris/Shapiro is getting really popular on the socials

Other than having a penis, what does Josh Shapiro bring to the ticket?

I'm not even sure being from a swing state helps in this instance.  I mean, MAGA already thinks the Dems were behind the Trump assassination attempt, so not sure "rewarding" the relatively unknown governor of Pennsylvania does much to quell that notion.

If Harris is at the top of the ticket, I think she needs either Kelly or Beshear as the #2.  And given the fear of losing a Senate seat in AZ, and Andy being term limited in KY, I suppose that means Beshear.

Roy Cooper is also a good option.  He won in NC in 2016 and 2020 despite Trump winning the state both times.   Also term limited.

I think the issue is a lot of these guys like Shapiro and Beshear might not want to be attached to a shotgun ticket 4 months before the election.

Someone like a Beshear could be a Presidential candidate in his own right in 2028, and losing in 2024 could jeopardize that. This is what we saw with Ron DeSantis - rising GOP star to bum.

Ron DeSantis got exposed as tin voiced empty suit once people got a look at him.  It would have happened whenever he decided to run for President.

The ticket needs Pennsyltucky. It’s not a given Dems win the state. Shapiro is a very popular governor. Also, I think he can articulate polices a bit better than Beshear. It’s not clear what Beshear would bring either other than age. Dems aren’t winning Kentucky. They need Pennsylvania.

The rumors are donors love them some Shapiro too. I think Harris/Shapiro gives the Dem ticket—and this entire presidential campaign—a much needed energy boost similar to a frat boy doing a line of coke right before kickoff.

1.) Harris/Shapiro

2A.) Harris/Coop

2B.) Harris/Beshear

What's funny/sad is that it's obvious why Biden wasn't doing many appearances the last year.  Then, when he fucked up the debate, he knew or was told he had to get out there and he's out there more than he's ever been and it keeps getting worse.

The Tucker Carlson/Candace Owens wing of the Republican Party would be literally frothing at mouth about a Harris/Shapiro ticket and we all know why.

This is a not-insignificant point.  With Elon Musk swinging his stunt dick around, Dems need to keep an eye on the till.

Losing Pennsylvania makes it really hard to get to 270. Shapiro gives a better shot IMO. Not gonna win Kentucky and probably not NC regardless. I love Kelly but not sure that guarantees AZ

I really like Shapiro, BTW. Kamala+Shapiro is a ticket I could get pretty excited about.

Contrasts.

If Trump is the machismo candidate that is winning over young men, men of color, and boomer white dusters…. Why go with a woman of color. Seems to be playing into a trap.

Best ticket to beat Trump IMO is Newsom with Warnock.
I have no polling to back this up however.

Kamila would have to publicly sign off on it though. I assume there would have to be a backroom deal on making her a Justice on SCOTUS or the AG for her to ok it bc you’ll need her out there hammering abortion talking pts. I think she’s likely the best surrogate to prosecute reason 1,567,359 that another Trump presidency is not ideal.

Newsom's profile as a rich, California limousine liberal won't play well in the midwest and Warnock has maybe the highest value over replacement level of any US Senator. Brian Kemp would also appoint his replacement, which would guarantee a Republican Senate in 2025.

I think Warnock would be a great POTUS candidate someday if he has that aspiration. He is far too valuable in the Senate to ask him to walk the plank as the VP on a longshot ticket. Complete nonstarter strategically.

Can't be another woman. If we're a country of moderates who lean misogynist, you have to put a man up there with Kamala as VP. Shapiro or Kelly makes the most sense. Shapiro is a good answer to Vance. Rust Belt governor of the single most important state in this election now.

Unfortunately, you are correct.  If Whitmer were a man, she'd be the 100% obvious choice.  30% (or more) of people's heads would explode if there were two women.

Shaprio is Jewish which won't matter to a wide number of people but the "GEORGE SOROS!!!!" crowd will be off the charts.

Kelly from Arizona is an excellent choice, IMO.

See above and the same is true for Mark Kelly, though at lease a Democrat would be appointed to replace him. Too valuable in his Senate seat though. He is well liked in one of the closest split states in the union. There are other compelling choices without that downside.

The fuck does Andy Beshear bring to the ticket? I promise you 75% of America has no idea who that is.

Shaprio has high name recognition and approval in a must-have state for Democrats. I might go with a Roy Cooper because he's term limited anyway and also from a competitive state (a black POTUS candidate and Roy Cooper might actually put NC and to a lesser extent GA back in play). But to the extent that a VP can add something (generally not much), Shaprio checks that box.

This is the one person who can get all rank and file Democratic voters in line. Pelosi can whip the elected officials but voters don't care.

Your graph suggests women are significantly better than men. It doesn't really support your point.

Oh, women are definitely better than men when it comes to "don't vote for the fascist sociopath."  That's not my point.  My point is that their tendencies aren't good enough to save the day.  We need women to vote Dem at a 2-1 clip.  They aren't there, they never will be.  And if the Dem is a woman, they may perform even worse than if the Dem was a man.

Sorry to be beating up women.  If you'd like me to beat up the shitty voting patterns of latinos next (hitting my own crew), I'm happy to do so.  Talk about "voting against your interests/leopards eating people's faces."

Yeah but they can't just snap their fingers and make it happen. Without the public pressure, Biden would just stay in the race.

I haven’t seen any suggestions for several pages for anyone other than Kamala at the top of the ticket. The discussion has been about VP, which will almost certainly be a white guy from the Midwest.

Yeah, I think it's a really bad look to leapfrog Harris.  She's the next in line, put her at the top of the ticket and fill in the VP role.

Just sayin'.

My absolute first choice, but as I've said many times, the American electorate are idiots and won't vote for him.
