so as to not get caught up in a criminal conspiracy (or so my house doesn't get collaterally TKThunder'd) when brisket inevitably snaps on one of his more sloppy spirals, i will avoid being too specific. but you know generally where paul wesley and i live and it's extremely proximate to that.

I have no knowledge of where that is at all, and own no guns. So it wasn't me.

DOGE should look into this…

WASHINGTON, April 17 (Reuters) - Elon Musk's SpaceX and two partners have emerged as frontrunners to win a crucial part of President Donald Trump's "Golden Dome" missile defense shield, six people familiar with the matter said.

Musk's rocket and satellite company is partnering with software maker Palantir (PLTR.O), opens new tab and drone builder Anduril on a bid to build key parts of Golden Dome, the sources said, which has drawn significant interest from the technology sector's burgeoning base of defense startups.

Seems like elon does not play well with others. Shocked I am!

Driver should have been paying attention. Musk should have cooperated.

Elon Musk’s fury over a Tesla death investigation foreshadowed his war on Washington

The following is an edited excerpt from the book “Hubris Maximus: The Shattering of Elon Musk,” which will be released April 22.

The thirty-eight-year-old father dropped his son at preschool and set off for work. He’d recently purchased a Tesla Model XP100D, an SUV with a six-figure price tag that boasted falcon-wing doors, the dream car he’d saved up for and bought himself as a birthday gift.

Walter Huang believed in Tesla. His lawyers would later say that he thought his car, when placed in Tesla’s Autopilot mode, was safer than one driven by a human driver.

Notable quotes:

All three companies were founded by entrepreneurs who have been major political supporters of Trump. Musk has donated more than a quarter of a billion dollars to help elect Trump, and now serves as a special adviser to the president working to cut government spending through his Department of Government Efficiency.

*****

One of the sources familiar with the talks described them as "a departure from the usual acquisition process. There's an attitude that the national security and defense community has to be sensitive and deferential to Elon Musk because of his role in the government."

*****

In an unusual twist, SpaceX has proposed setting up its role in Golden Dome as a "subscription service" in which the government would pay for access to the technology, rather than own the system outright.

The subscription model, which has not been previously reported, could skirt some Pentagon procurement protocols allowing the system to be rolled out faster, the two sources said. While the approach would not violate any rules, the government may then be locked into a subscription and lose control over its ongoing development and pricing, they added.

We the People, wouldn't actually own this weapons system flying around above us. So, what happens if we decide to cancel our subscription, and are we sure they won't target us again?

That can’t be right. I was told our economy was too reliant on state funding so surely these contracts wouldn’t conceivably be wasteful and these companies will refuse to bid.

Elon: "Huh.  Enemy missiles inbound.  It would be a shame if someone had to suspend your subscription right now for . . . reasons.  A direct transfer of $500 billion to upgrade to our 'Platinum Missile Defense Plan' will insure that your subscription stays on, especially during the next 20 minutes . . . act now!"

There's not a single thing about Elon that is redeeming, and the earth as a whole will be better when he is gone.

So Ultron from the Marvel movies? Cool, if it gains sentience and decides that eliminating humanity is a net positive, I’m not sure there too much valid critique of that logic.

Haven't heard that name in forever.  My brother was a DJ for KAOS pirate radio before he died back in the early 2000s.  Lucky to have some of his broadcasts saved on mp3, back in 2002 he put on a show at Emo's with FRB and a bunch of other bands, one of the things I remember was his put-together commercial for all the different bands.  Just went back and checked it out, fuck he was so young, at the same time my son is almost the same age now.  Shit.  Anyway, thanks for mentioning that name, I needed to hear my brother again....  Now back to your normal broke-dick Nazi talk...

https://arstechnica.com/cars/2025/04/tesla-makes-its-cars-lie-about-their-mileage-lawsuit-claims/

Quote

Tesla is facing a new scandal that once again sees the electric automaker accused of misleading customers. In the past, it has been caught making "misleading statements" about the safety of its electric vehicles, and more recently, an investigation by Reuters found Tesla EVs exaggerated their efficiency. Now, a lawsuit filed in California alleges that the cars are also falsely exaggerating odometer readings to make warranties expire prematurely.

The lead plaintiff in the case, Nyree Hinton, bought a used Model Y with less than 37,000 miles (59,546 km) on the odometer. Within six months, it had pushed past the 50,000-mile (80,467 km) mark, at which point the car's bumper-to-bumper warranty expired. (Like virtually all EVs, Tesla powertrains have a separate warranty that lasts much longer.)

Quote

For this six-month period, Hinton says his Model Y odometer gained 13,228 miles (21,288 km). By comparison, averages of his three previous vehicles showed that with the same commute, he was only driving 6,086 miles (9,794 km) per 6 months.

The following year, Hinton's commute got longer, but he claims his car actually recorded 800 fewer miles per month once it was no longer under warranty. During the first six months of ownership, Hinton says the car displayed an average of 2,217 miles (3,568 km) a month; for the 12 months following the expiration of the warranty (and with a longer commute), the Model Y displayed an average of just 1,415 miles (2,277 km) a month.

Quote

Hinton's lawsuit alleges that Tesla "employs an odometer system that utilizes predictive algorithms, energy consumption metrics, and driver behavior multipliers that manipulate and misrepresent the actual mileage traveled by Tesla Vehicles" and that his car "consistently exhibited accelerated mileage accumulations of varying percentages ranging from 15 percent to 117 percent higher than plaintiff's other vehicles and his driving history."

There are claims of similar experiences by Tesla owners on Reddit, and Hinton is bringing the lawsuit on behalf of all Californian Tesla customers. That may well be unsuccessful, though. In the exaggerated range case a US district judge found that individual owners had to engage in arbitration with Tesla and could not form a class.
