when they couldn't run left I knew they were fucked.  BAL and NO just butfucked us over the left side all game.

Do we have any one outside of Lamb at WR that poses any threat at all? Cooks is beyond washed. The collective speed on offense is terrible. Defenses don't fear anyone getting down the field and they play defense accordingly.

No.  Cooks is having a really rough time separating and we can't protect well enough for deep double moves and we don't run well enough for a great PA game to allow him to run.  He does look like he's lost a step.  At this point in his career, we probably just need to move him to the slot full-time and CeeDee needs to move outside unless running double slots.  Best possible outcomes.  Ferg is good but he's not 100% yet and Tolbert is okay, but still a jag and he may be the worst blocking WR I've seen in a long time.  With him and Cooks, it's hard to get 2nd level blocks or sealing ends for the run game.  It's really a bad situation.  We either need Tolbert to really progress or trade for a guy but that takes money and well, you know....... Other idea is fuck it and run double TE's with Luepke and maybe Stephens and go for mismatches that way.  Things we need to do on offense, realistically:

1.  End the midget experiment.  He brings nothing, not ST returns like Sproles or Meggett so he's just a little guy out there trying to do what regular RBs do and he's not.

2.  If Cook can't get on the field after this mini-bye, then cut him and start searching for another RB on other team's practice squads.  If he can, then you probably sit Vaughn or Zeke and see what happens.  Rico is our best RB and he's a jag.

3.  Move Cooks to the slot (see above)

4.  We have to get another tackle.  Guyton is a raw rookie and really struggling, but everyone forgets that Steele is a turnstile in pass pro too.

5.  More motion and maybe more 2 TE sets.

Defense:

Only way is to trade for a DT.  Our lines are letting us down on both sides of the ball and it's impossible to keep up any momentum because our defense can't get off the field and our offense makes too many mistakes (penalties) to sustain long drives.  It's a clusterfuck and basically everyone's concerns have come to haunt this team.  Nowhere except for Overshown has any question marks overachieved.  Not Guyton, not the IDL, not the secondary, not Tolbert or Brooks.  We just aren't a good team right now.  Our weaknesses are so pronounced that the only way we can stay in games is if the QB is perfect.  Look at the tight window stats right now.  It's ridiculous.  Nobody is getting open with regularity and that's on the players but on Fatty's schemes too.  I do think a healthy Ferg and one more weapon could really help the offense become more consistent if the OL can settle down, but that's going to take one of the tackles to get better quick and Beebe to be better recognizing stunts.

For all the talk by announcers about Giants making such big investment in OL, they rushed for only 26 yards.  Cowboys are missing Pollard big time.

Not at his current cost and production, but for sure they should have drafted someone.

I think the wr corp is good enough and could be pretty darn good but the oline is dogshit and play calling is dogshit, in part because of the oline problem and having no running game. Zimmer and his clown d is the bigger problem though, Dak and the offense could be rocking and they’d still lose because of the absolutely worthless d.

Tolbert should be the 3rd or 4th guy, not the 2nd receiver.  The roster has more holes than a slice of swiss cheese.  Jerry's gonna get a full rebuild whether he wants to or not.

2nd and 18...

2nd down - played like 10 yards off and gains an easy 8 yards.

3rd down - played way off again and allowed an easy catch that dang near got the 1st.

These are the hidden yards that don't show up that allows them to get points instead of making them punt.

Hidden yards? Have you been hanging out with Greg Davis?

i don't see it.  we don't have speed or quickness, we're not disciplined in our routes, average athleticism, we don't even block well.  decent hands i guess.

looking at the schedule my 5-12 is probably too low.  I see these as possible wins

NYG, @CAR, WASH, TB, maybe @ATL and one random, hey this is the NFL win.  7-10 makes sense.  We should lose both to the Eagles.

Pollard wasn't very good either since his injury.  They should have drafted a running back.

Pollard still better than what they have because they won’t cut it.

Let's also give credit to their front office for letting Saquon walk.

High ankle sprains seem like a bitch and can linger on for awhile. I've heard it's almost better just to get a clean break as it will heal better and quicker. I think even after he returns, Parsons will still be dealing with it.

Didn't DLaw injure his foot last year?

Already missing Bland, our safeties are terrible and now missing the only 2 guys who can even get to the QB, which is even rare for them this year. No RBs to speak of, no real speed on offense and a struggling OL, fun times are ahead for the schedule we have. Is 2-5 on the horizon? 3-3 seems to be what to hope for going into the bye and hopefully regroup for the rest of the season.

I've heard with mazi he was dealing with a rehab issue last offseason and also confidence.

Maybe just MAYBE he's turning a corner.  Still too long to make an impact for a first rounder.

And as for the safeties...they literally have better options on the roster, but refuse to make the change and stick with the 2 starters.

watch it on youtube.

that man is an absolute freak.  just so terribly unfortunate that he was out of our price range.  thankfully jerry was able to produce him in the aggregate with rico, zeke, and the midget.

he's the same age and a fuckton bigger than zeke; try to go somewhere in your mind that comprehends zeke making that same run.  zeke is a lazy fat idiot.

The Cowboys should see what they could get from KC in a trade for Brandin Cooks. He's that guy that gets traded when teams need an experienced above-average receiver that can help. He has never been the stud he has been made out to be. if they could get a 3 or 4, or maybe a backup player in a position of need for depth and has some contract left after this season, then pull the trigger. Promote Brooks up a notch and roll with it.

I'm not trying to throw in the towel on the season, but there are times when you need to use your chips before they gone, and this is one of them. The Cowboys rarely use these opportunities, which is one of the reasons they are always a step behind. They tend to do the opposite and overpay to take someone else's baggage.

Cooks is expendable, though it hurts depth to a degree. It also creates opportunity and maybe bring in some new chemistry and play making potential. Ferguson is the true number 2, and Tolbert needs to take a bigger role, even Turpin is in the rotation in a meaningful way. No better time to shuffle a little bit and shake things up.

I don't think Cooks gets you a 3 or 4, more like a 6th.  He's an also ran at this point in his career, or at least he is here.

He gets you a 3 or 4 if you are trading him TO Dallas, not FROM Dallas.

Mid-season trades to a team in need of help after a couple of key long-term injuries are a bit different.

The Chiefs made a terrible trade in mid 2022 trading away comp 3rd and a 6th for the most brittle and underachieving (but allegedly promising, lol) WR in the league, Kadarius Toney. They cut him before the season after he averaged 2 catches per game for them when he wasn't injured. They are probably even more desperate now as the Chiefs offense has been sluggish after losing two of their top targets and their top RB. Cooks still probably owns a myth of being productive past reality.

Who else you giving besides Cooks to get a 3 or 4th?  Maybe.... maybe a conditional 6/7th.  He hasn't produced with Dallas and Dallas has used him in all the wrong ways..... They use him like he's a regular outside WR.  So stupid.  Verticals, deep ins, digs and curls.  You want Cooks in space go run away from guys with crossing patterns....

I think Dorance Armstrong is a guy Dallas really misses right now. I hated to lose him in free agency.

100% agree, but we could see this once Sam Williams went down.  He was being groomed to take his 3rd pass rusher role.  Now, we've lost the top 4 guys from last year.  Actually top 5 pass rushers from last year are no longer with the team or hurt.  We just didn't invest in the defense other than "getting guys back".  This team isn't as good as last year because the organization won't spend or invest.  Same with the secondary.  Needed another CB, didn't go get one.  Have needed a good rangy center field Free safety, haven't gotten one.  Need 2 IDL's, got some terrible also-rans (Zimmer probably to blame here).  This is a rebuild year.

Also Fat McCarthy's offense lack any creativity.  We're back 10 or 5 in motion, shifts, PA, etc.... But the last one?  Who would be scared of your rushing attack when it's being led by Dead Legs, Rico and the midget?  It's a joke.

Dorance is much more versatile than Sam Williams, though. He seemed like a guy they should keep around for depth and quality reps in different spots.

Put Cooks in KC's offense and suddenly he'll look like a steal for a 4th rounder.

Cooks can't get in and out of his breaks quickly anymore, that was his best feature.  He isn't garnering a 4th in return...not when KC can go out and likely get Amari Cooper or Davante Adams for a 2nd or 3rd.
