I realized I left a bunch out if we're expanding beyond rock stars.

We have a whole thread in Lolz somewhere i’m pretty sure, this one just went on a offseason mini detour.  It started with physically bumping into or stepping on their feet and evolved in offseason form.

In one of my finer moments, I crossed paths with Tom Hulce in NYC and blurted out "hey, you're Mozart!".  He looked at me with complete scorn.

It was then I realized I should have said "hey, you're Pinto!".  Dumbass.

Do share. Points if one of them is Amber Heard.

No, it's a fucking sausage fest.

Parents had a place out near Santa Fe, and we ended up being the entertainment of the evening for Roger Miller. It was my grandparents' 50th anniversary dinner celebration and... there were incidents. Table caught fire once. Good fun.

Passed by Gene Hackman a couple of times there, too. He was just some guy, ya know?

Went to see the Rangers and met the president's kid back in the early 90s. My Dad was like, "That guy might be the president himself one day." Naaaah, who's gonna vote for George W?

When I was really young I was at the same hotel in Philadelphia that the VP went to. Mondale skipped by everyone else, but stopped to say "hi" to my brother and I. He didn't deserve what happened to him in '84. Great guy.

We were on vacation in Bath, England, and bumped into Don Meredith at our hotel. Mom, who treated everyone she saw from the lowliest street sweeper to the most famous celebrity like an old friend was all, "We both came all this way from Texas just to meet here!" n shit.

Uhhhhhhh that's all I remember for now.

Some really good ones and a home run for the randomness of Don Meredith in Bath, England, haha.

Apparently Bono lasts a long time.

I’m reminded of the old business line “how long do you let an 800 lb gorilla fuck you?” here.

“How long does hagbard celine let Bono fuck him?”

”As long as Bono wants. “

In the area.

Edit: CDC and I are contemporaries. Went to different high schools. We crossed paths a time or two, but I’m sure he has no recollection of me (he wasn’t remarkable at the time either).  He is now the AD at the premier college athletic program in the country. I am not.

Don’t take it too hard. I’ve met CDC at least 50 times, including in closely held meetings, and I feel fairly certain he wouldn’t remember me if I ran into him right now and kicked him squarely in the nuts.

Sir, you can remove the credit for this thread derail from my cold, dead hands. This started when I asked about a Dave Grohl reference and then things began spiraling when his drug-addled drummer hit on my wife.

Since we’re MFng off the JC thread.  My Dad brought home a Skoal poster with Walt Garrison’s autograph on it (TXHS Coaching School ~83-84,) as Dad remembered his days with the Cowboys.  He did tell me (he was my HS HC and forbid drinking, smoking, and snuff dipping). If caught any FB player doing either, you’d have to run bleachers after practice, with a coach counting each rep.

Met Jeff Bagwell at IAH baggage claim mid 90s. Lou Holtz walking thru O'Hara about same time, not friendly. David Shaw in Charlotte, he was really nice. Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit at 24 Hour Fitness on Westheimer. Eddie was cool as hell, Chris not so much. Met Vinnie Paul and rest of Hellyeah at Uncle Julios in Dallas. He was the coolest dude ever. A few others that I'm forgetting right now

I saw Fred Williard waiting in line for tickets at a University of Hawaii baseball game.  I went up to him and said, "Mr. Willard, I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your work on Fernwood 2Night."  He busted out laughing and said, "I don't get that very often!"

Would've been more effective if he'd made the offender swallow the dip and then run the bleachers.

Holy crap.  Small world - my wife roomed with her one summer in college.

She really did seem like a good person, but relationships will make a mess of folks. What did your wife think of her?

you are a cruel and vicious man and you should feel bad

also, the self-deprecation is nice but it's likely cdc does know who you are if you've "met" him 50 times

I have a “sideline jacket/pullover” worn by Coach Holtz during his ND days.  His sister donated it for one of my Dad’s fund raiser banquets when he was the AD at Houston Christian. Of course, once he saw it, with Holtz written on the inner tag, and knowing it came from his sister, he had to buy it in the auction.

Lou was/is a small guy, as the jacket is a S/M in size.  No grass clippings in the pockets.

Speaking of baggage claims, I met Rob Halford at the baggage claim at Sky Harbor in Phoenix back in the 90s.

Surly 101. Self-deprecation when things count. Claim all the glory for something done on page 27 of 31 in an eight-month-old catastrophe. Also Texan to the core ... well done.

My wife and me are actually in the last episode of the Cosby Show, haha. True story.

Her best friend worked on the show (and still works for NBC News) and cast us as extras in a college graduation scene that took place in the episode. It was a fun experience.

One of my favorite shows (Cosby) as a teenager (80s).  Such a great show - IMO.

I’m in several scenes of transformers dark of the moon.   They filmed when I was stationed at cape Canaveral.  I spent a week in the “nest” team alongside duhamel.   He was the coolest dude. Shia la douche is the biggest cock sucker on earth.   As a child of the 80s. Transformers was my shit   During filming I can confirm. They do not transform. It’s just a giant pole with a light on it and an old dude as Optimus primes voice.  But still cool. 5 days 10 hours a day same scene over and over fRom diff cam angles  oh. Tyrese is cool as shit too

I met a lot of celebrities when I moved to Northern California after college for a job, on the weekends I worked another gig for a high end catering company in the wine country.  One of the most memorable interactions was bartending at a charity golf tournament and getting Shooter McGavin so drunk he got kicked out.  At the same golf tournament was The Smothers Brothers performing, Cheech, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Jane Seymour and a bunch I don’t remember.

My contribution to the film industry is the black and white Astros footage running on the television in the background of Mission Control in 'Apollo 13.' Got to work one morning and found a note in my inbox. When I called them it was a member of Ron Howard's team. Went upstairs and pulled some highlights from a contemporaneous KTRK-13 broadcast. When someone came to pick it up they spotted an old remote broadcast truck in the back parking lot and borrowed it for the scenes outside Jim Lovell's house.

Markers apparently not the only things that got stuck up that butt...

My only close encounter with an athlete:

This was in mid-90s (94 or 95) when we were having an all-day event at a Houston mosque and during mid-day prayers (~1:30pm), Hakeem Olajuwon walks in and I stand next to him during prayer. I don't see him at the afternoon (~4:30pm) prayers but he is there for the next (~7:30pm) one. One of my friends asks him where he was for the earlier one. Hakeem's response: "I was busy beating Spurs."
