That guy...is insane and evil. If you want to get a snapshot of how he thinks (spoiler: everything is the fault of all those bitches), here you go:

Yeah, I didn't get that far. That's the Southern Baptist Convention for you. Not just that denomination, but that's the biggest one.

You know, I was reading that interview, and many of the things they were saying at the beginning I agree with. I think there's almost a pretentious claiming of empathy where it's actually very difficult to attain. I love the word, personally. I think it's a great word and I'm grateful it's come into our vocabulary.

He calls it The Sin of Empathy, and compares it to the sin of anger or fear. He then says there are times when anger or fear are not sinful, just as there are times when empathy is not sinful, but there are times when it is.

There's a section in there where the author talks about saving someone from drowning while remaining on the boat or remaining tethered to shore that I absolutely agree with. A phrase I constantly use is "don't keep such an open mind your brain falls out." I do think boundaries can be extremely healthy, and sometimes those boundaries run counter to any aspirations of empathy. That's not always a bad thing.

Then it got into politics where it started defending the actions of the administration from a biblical point of view and then I couldn't read any more. Just more tribal tripe with a Christian cloak wrapped around them rather than an American flag or whatever other iconography they want to steal for their purposes of power.

If someone wants to defend the actions of this administration from a political or societal management point of view that's one thing. My big issue is the annihilation of democratic principles and the threat to future peaceful transitions of power, more so than any specific policy they're implementing. But to come back and try to defend the actions as Christian, or why Christians should be in favor of what is going on, is not biblically sound to me. But that's not the point. Their tribe is in power so the troops of all stripes are going to rally to the cause, and use the tools at their disposal to defend the people from their tribe in power. Anyway, I couldn't make it through the entire article.

Damn near my exact take....right down to the "I can't read any more of this utter shite used to excuse the worst behaviors."

And this is the underlying issue that is encapsulated in this thread--Democrats are just done with the whole democracy.  They're at the "they bought their tickets; they knew what they were getting into.  I say, 'let 'em crash'" stage.

Priced in. Here’s the deal- the culture war shit is so potent in part because it’s a way to connect people and places that are better off with moral decay and violence. Incidentally this is also true on the bottom rung of the socioeconomic ladder in big cities.
But outside of the six largest metros and a handful of vacation destinations, things are pretty bleak. And they know it. They don’t need anybody to come up with scare stories on fox to show them the problem. So Democrats in Texas need to be on the ground, in Montague and Bandera and Terry and Anderson and Jasper and Aransas and all the other counties where the suicide rate is double the state average, talking about how shitty things are and pointing fingers.

Finally some good news.

Now that Trump and his devotees have dropped any pretense of not being racist, and are having success in re-engineering the actual meaning of words, ( see diversity, equity, inclusion, woke…) the religious right has entered the fray. Empathy is now a sin:

Translated to the common tongue:

Fuck you, Jesus. You brown skinned immigrant faggot. Why you always being nice to people?

Christians can gargle my balls. Cram it right the fuck up your ass.

He starts from a premise that is credible: that empathy run amok can be a bad thing..... It's the well-spoken rantings of a genuine sociopath.

I took a glance at it.  In the very beginning the guy is a crybaby "alpha" who whines about people not asking him how he feels.   Then he tries to lend credibility to himself though discussing his teaching leadership courses (without addressing where, who attended, and what is the basis of his credibility).   But it is really just a pleonastic ramblings of a guy trying to fool others into thinking he is an intellectual with credibility and value.

Listening to the recorded conversation, I heard two white intellectuals seriously babbling over the erosion of white male dominance. Rigney is using the motif of empathy to attack what he sees as the onslaught of so called liberal agendas. Their collective philosophical language and academic citations are intended to justify the rhetoric or moral abstinence in the face of personal and/or public good.

It would be to our disadvantage to engage them in conversation as if they perceive us to be their equals. Because it’s important not to allow the repugnant doctrines to take hold in sacred spaces, we have to be equals on our own ground when reacting to ideological gibberish intended to serve as a cover for the Trump agenda.

Great. The poor stupid people voted themselves into a education death spiral. They will celebrate this until they can’t afford the maintenance on their dope ass football stadium.

Looking forward to the day when these kids enter the workforce and can’t do the math to correctly estimate projects.

Wrong.  The LAST thing that will happen is decay of precious football stadiums.  See, this plan has two steps (I'm not making this up, this is exactly what Republican states are asking for): 1) stop federal funds (which actually have to be used for certain purposes, like....educating students, including those with disabilities and such), and then 2) divert those funds to unrestricted "block grants" to states to use however they want.

So, the $500 million that USED to go to your state for special education, and the most underfunded schools?  Well, now that $500 million is going to be used to build the most incredible football stadiums -- in white, suburban districts only -- that mankind has ever seen.

As a practical matter, they just voided Brown v. Board of Education  AND Plessey v. Ferguson.  Our new national motto is "Separate and AWESOME - Whiteville High has a Godzillatron bigger than any university now!"

Fucking shit head cunts that they are.

And yet somehow when they cheat on their spouses, diddle little kids, embezzle church funds, etc... all they gotta do is ask their sky daddy for forgiveness. All good!

Good luck Don. You gave it to him, he will say it’s his to give back not yours to take back and he will be supported in that position.

See, Don....that's kinda the thing that those of us who aren't abject mouth-breathing idiots (so...we're not Republicans) fucking warned about with flashing red lights and the whole 9 yards: once an authoritarian has a power, he never, ever, ever surrenders it.  Except by force.  That's it.  You've opted out of the rule of law, and now expect to use the rule of law to claw back power?  That's not how it fucking works, you fucking cowardly cock gobblers.

When an administrative agency seeks to make a rule through informal rulemaking, § 553(b) requires that the agency publish a general notice of the proposed rulemaking. § 553(c) requires that agency to give interested persons the opportunity to submit written comments and that the agency consider such comments. Individuals can submit comments on proposed rules electronically at Regulations.gov . The agency must give individuals a period of at least 30 days to comment on the proposed rule. Before publishing the final rule, the agency must issue a “concise general statement of their basis and purpose.” Lastly, § 553(d) provides that the final rules are published in the Federal Register .

I'm looking forward to the semantic gymnastics required to claim GM and Ford aren't American companies.

I assume they'll say he was misquoted and only talking about Stellantis

Pleading ignorance here, but where are their batteries and/or the materials they use for their batteries coming from? Are they subject to tariffs?

I don't really know much about the industry, but according to this piece, about a quarter of their parts/components are imported, so they will see some effect.

From here, I saw an estimate that tariffs could increase the cost of an EV by about $12,000.

It won’t matter - Trump will carve out everything that could hamper Tesla. But won’t publicize it.
