Anyone who's spent much time around hourly workers knows they'll do whatever to increase the size of their paycheck.

Diddle withholding, skip insurance, skip 401k.

And that probably extends into some salaried workers at the lower end as well.

Color me skeptical things are more expensive in New Mexico than Texas.
Well maybe Santa Fe.

He’s surely hanging his hat on prices being higher in NY and California. Imagine that….prices are higher in places where people 1) are and 2) want to be.
Yeah, I’m confident the cost of housing etc in Squirrel Dick, Alabama has gone up less than in San Diego or Manhattan.

Not in Squirrel Dick!  You gotta think of places like Possum Clit, SC or Nutria Nipple, LA. Real towns with metropolitan folks!!

Yeah, makes about as much sense. These people are shameless.

Gif surrender noted to a legitimate question.

It’s literally the highest average amount recorded, but slay, eviscerate and go off queen.

AI bubble inflates stock market to all-time highs, 401k balances hit highest levels ever.

Yeah, no fucking shit.

Can you imagine Obama as Treasury Secretary?

You and I imagine different things.   Mine involves Salma Hayek, me and a gallon of lube.

And the thing is, the prices are reaching parity. I’ve spent two weeks of every month this year in NYC. Prices for fine dining (omakase, steaks, standard fine dining) are about equal to what I see in Atlanta or Dallas or Miami (red states). Either the prices in other cities are catching up to NYC and a steak experience in Plano is a rip off to the experience in the City or NYC has flattened out and is a better deal.

Can’t comment on LA.

I was in LA not to long ago and felt like my meals were cheaper than Austin.

We did a week between San Diego and Santa Barbara last summer and every meal was comparable or cheaper than Austin.

Trump's economy always does the same thing.  Creates massive debt of record producing levels, along with tepid employment.  Especially when compared to the numbers he inherited!I will say however, that if Trump were President in any other period of time, the same truth about tariffs fucking up the economy and causing inflation would still be true. But to me it's fun to watch folks lie Scott Bessent incessantly lie about tariff and inflation. What is now especially funny is to see Trump cut tariffs to reduce inflation, while everyone in the administration repeatedly says tariffs do not cause inflation.  Up is down and down is up... and we are not lying!!! HaHa!

The closest thing to the brains of MAGA today, is sort of like the series Pluribus.  Except rather than universal knowledge of the collective, you have a single brain controlling all thought processes. And the singular observable truth from the non-pod human perspective about the collective is, the absolute inability to tell the truth.

With this admin constantly fabricating reality in the face of actual reality for some reason this scene from Thank You for Smoking plays in my head (megall is a movie exec, Nick is a tobacco lobbyist)

MEGALL (Rob Lowe): “Science fiction — the future. … There’s this picture, big, space, stars, Brad Pitt and Catherine Zeta-Jones.”
NICK (Aaron Eckhart): “Cigarettes in space?”
MEGALL: “It’s the final frontier, Nick.”
NICK: “But wouldn’t they blow up in an all-oxygen environment?”
MEGALL: “Probably. But that’s an easy fix — one line of dialogue. ‘Thank God we invented the ... you know, whatever device.’”
