Unless they’re Asian MAGA.

I have a few relatives that voted for Trump because tax cuts and immigrants (irony knows no bounds). I spoke to a few of them lately and they STILL don’t know or don’t care what’s going on the country.

What a coincidence. It just so happens that I’m smoking a peace pipe right now after an enjoyable afternoon.

OK, maybe not a peace pipe, but most def a pipe…wait…what was the question again?

We had just a couple Indian kids at my school growing up, and I was friends with one named Asam. He insisted it was pronounced “Awesome”, and so that’s what everyone called him.

That’s all I’ve got to add about Indians.

Why does your wife hate free shoes?  Is it because they are used, or because she can't find her size amongst your neighbors?

Your Indian neighbors are likely driven crazy at the thought of somebody wearing shoes inside their home. I wasn’t aware of that dynamic until I saw the comedy, Mo.

I’ve very recently started watching this show. Enjoyable so far.

A cultural norm that harms no one doesn't phase me, but now aren't you all wondering if early Americans went around at the barn raising meal grabbing cutlery from their neighbors hands if they held the fork in their left hand Continental Style?

Meh, they're all over Frisco, but whatever.  They are forcing my daughter to step up her game to be in the top 10% of her class.

Top 10% doesn’t come close to cutting it anymore. Auto-admit for UT is only for the top 5%

And that auto-admit will get you a heavily coveted spot in the College of Liberal Arts where you can get a BA in French Studies.

My wife's cousin went the Econ route with that very scenario, then finished with a 5-year plan and a Masters in Finance.  Now he's a finance bro in NY.  There are always options.

Not sure that Economics is still considered a non-competitive major, since it’s probably the most likely path to a six figure income in the COLA.
In 2016 there were 47,511 applications, which was a 50% increase from 2010. In 2023 there were 72,885 applications. In 2024 there were 90,562.

Does economics have a separate admissions like other colleges?

It's long been a poor man's (student's) route to a BBA when that danged ol lower-division GPA didn't cut the mustard.

Answering my own question, the internal transfer requirement. https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/economics/undergraduate-program/prospective-students/internal-transfer.html

Key takeaways:

Is admission to the Economics major competitive? Is there a GPA cut-off?

No, currently there is no GPA requirement and approval is not on a competitive basis. Our goal is to accept all students who want Economics as their major as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.

But this is probably what gets a lot of people:

  • Must complete one of the following courses in-residence with a C- or higher:
    • ECO 304K Intro to Microeconomics
    • ECO 304L Intro to Macroeconomics
    • Calculus I (M 408K, M 408N, M 408C, M 408R or M 408Q)
    • Calculus II (M 408L, M 408D, or M 408S)
    • ECO 329 Economic Statistics
    • Any upper-division Economics elective

There are some incredibly hot Indian women, and some incredibly not-hot Indian women.

It's difficult to find the BMI sweet spot in the Indian gene pool.  They are either grotesquely obese or built like malnourished refugees (because a lot of them are).

Shoes in the house is nasty af.  But I do now wonder why they don't put them in the garage?  I'm in Sugarland everyday, and I don't ever recall seeing shoes on the porch.

I'd trade the erratic driving and shoes on front porch for a few really solid restaurants in a heartbeat.   Way down the list of neighbors to be worried about.   I think the multigenerational living in one house thing irks people (only complaint I've ever actually heard) and really I think most of that is from having a completely full driveway plus cars in the street type of deal.
