Individual effort by the RB really shows itself in yards after contact. Bijan and RJ set a standard for that that has helped our RB room ever since. It's something we have been lacking the last few games. Tre Wisner set the tone for the offense on Saturday. I'm not sure why but I enjoyed this victory more than I have in many years. Suck it Sooners.

This!  Maybe don't blatantly cheat and make the SEC crew at the Auburn game look like shit and get written up by the league office genius.

That fucking game, man. That crew better have gotten life changing money for that shit.

As happy as I am for Tre Wisner, I’m sad for Cedric Baxter. If you remember him from three seasons ago, he was a force and completely fast, elusive and strong as hell. Plus, he’s a really nice person. I am afraid we may never see him reach his former self. I hope he has used his NIL money wisely. He told em that he wanted to start an apparel brand and had even created the logo, which was nice.

More power to him for a full return to his former talent and I wish him health, wealth and success!

Is he able to play at all this season or is he done until next season? Or you don't know and I'll just go unfuck my face.

I do not understand the criticism of Niblett

When you take into account the median intelligence of the typical Surly poster, then account for the fact that HALF the board is even dumber than THAT, multiply by the amount of alcohol consumed by said posters, lowering their IQs even more?

Then it makes complete sense.

It doesn't make sense if you're somewhat intelligent, knowledgeable or sober. But there are so few of us...

IMO, all Niblett has done is what has been asked of him.  Block, take snaps when our primary guys are winded, and play special teams.  He is giving all he can.  Winner in my book.

On a play in the second half, I saw a convoy of our guys blocking down the field ahead of Wisner or Arch (don’t remember which) and they were pointing out men to block and communicating as they were running. Specifically saw Livingstone doing this.
That is great. Reminded me of our awesome downfield blocking when we had guys like David Thomas doing everything in their power to win games.

I know Moore was pointing a guy out for Wisner. Arch followed him up on one play as well.

I understand this board would like Niblett to field more punts but if that resulted in some of them being muffed yall would hate that. I’ll take what he is giving us so far.

I get this, but it's inexcusable for a team with this many athletes to have to let punts bounce for fear of fumbling the catch.  We've lost over a hundred yards of field position that way this season, and it's making things harder for an offense that has its own issues.

It's not Niblett's fault if he just can't make those catches.  But there are a bunch of rich decision makers with a bunch of talented players to evaluate.  Figure it out.

Bobby acknowledge he was being a huge baby back bitch about Mateer?

He was the only one on OTF that picked Texas to win. Gerry and Rod picked OU.

I'm not the biggest Bobby fan, but have to give credit when due. He was the only 9.95er that had the proper beat on this team preseason. So far he's been completely correct. He said Texas would struggle early with the changes and inexperience and would lose to OSU and Florida. He then said that would galvanize them in the Cotton Bowl and they would dispatch OU on the way to a 10-2 season.

Let's hope he's right about that.

Yep. The drive that started at the 6 was because he let a punt bounce. He's had one good punt return all year... and it'll be talked about for years.

I don't think that particular play is a great example to cite if you want to criticize Niblett.  Go back and review that play if you can -- I have.  That was a shitty, low, line-drive punt that landed a good 20 yards in front of where Niblett had set up.  Not even Deion Sanders in his prime would have tried to field that punt on the fly.  The punt then bounced crazily in OU's favor.  Niblett approached the ball and clearly thought about trying to field it, but at the last instant he decided to let it go past him.  I suppose one could second-guess his decision not to try to field the punt on the bounce, but with the way (and speed) that ball was bouncing, I had no problem with his decision.  There was a good chance that an attempt to field that punt would have led to a muff, and the last thing Texas needed at that point in time was a muffed punt and a turnover in favor of OU, which would have been a huge swing in momentum.  And, as someone else has pointed out, part of the reason the drive started at the 5 yard line was because one of the punt return team got called for a penalty.

Some of Niblett's other decisions re: fielding punts in prior games are a lot more questionable than that play, IMO.

That's what he said preseason. That this team would come together in the Cotton Bowl and be a different team after it than it was heading in. I thought he was nuts but damned if he hasn't been spot on to this point. Tip of the hat to the man.

He was supposedly back from injury and ready to go and looking good blah blah blah then got hurt again. Don’t think they are sharing what’s going on if it’s same injury came back or something new. Either way he’s been a great Longhorn and I hope he gets to contribute because he’s been an awesome teammate.

This crybaby here:

There were 1,495,728,859,726,750 instances of holding on the OU offensive line that went uncalled between the years 1999 and 2024. League office has been notified.

That’s fine

We should send to the league office all the missed holding, the facemask that was missed on a Simon run, and the handful of cheap shots and late hits they did once they started losing (as always).

It’s probably useless but with 40+ people on get staff one guy dedicated for a day showing all angles of fouls missed to the league couldn’t hurt.

Also a dedicated cry baby with a visor screaming and running into the field causing a scene seems to work great for Georgia.

I do not understand the criticism of Niblett.  After Saturday's game, he's averaging 21.6 yards per punt return.  Even if you take away the 75-yarder, he's averaging more than 14 per return.  And most importantly, he's been pretty surehanded -- no fumbles.  I don't think he's going to make anyone forget about the likes of Jordan Shipley or Aaron Ross, and I'd be the first one to agree that prior to the OU game most of his production had come against inferior competition, but he hasn't been nearly as bad as people on this board make it out to be.

Look at the catchable (yes that is somewhat subjective) ones that have bounced and rolled. Hidden yardage is massively negative with him not running up and fielding them

but he is now forever in UT lore and I will savor it while still hoping someone teaches him to catch the fucking ball

What I've begun to notice is that every SEC contender has at least one inexplicable bedshitting performance in conference play. Usually a loss, but sometimes an embarrassing failure to cover against an inferior opponent. Florida could have been a bedshitting, but at the time we had no reason to believe the performance in Gainesville was an anomaly. On the other side of the coin, it's possible that OU shit the bed against us, which means we shouldn't read too much into our dominant performance in Dallas.

Georgia is beatable, but Kirby Smart seems to know how to outcoach Sark, so at this point I'm not ready to say we run the table. I think we will beat aggy and piggy, but as for every other game on the schedule I don't believe there's enough information to project with confidence that we will win them. Vanderbilt and Georgia especially.

As I stated in another post, some of his decisions in prior games are a lot more questionable than that one play from the OU game that resulted in Texas starting at its 5 yard line, so I agree with you to an extent.  He certainly hasn't been perfect as a punt returner -- and the instances in which he let punts hit the ground when he had a reasonable opportunity to field them are the biggest knock on him up to this point.

But I think overall he's been solid.  And my overarching point is that I think there are several other facets of the team's play that I think are bigger problems.  Does he need to sharpen up his decisionmaking re: fielding punts?  Yes.  But at least he hasn't fumbled or muffed a punt up to this point, and he's had a few explosive returns.  Hopefully he'll continue to improve.
