They must hate Athens and/or had bad past experiences there, etc.

More likely they have already done two Georgia games this year (vs Tenn and vs Ole Miss in Athens) and one Texas game this year.  With 3 of 11 weeks feauturing one or the other they need to spread themselves around a bit.

We got pretty well shredded by Florida and Kentucky as well. Outside of OU we’ve been bad against the pass in conference play.

Kentucky shredded us after we put our defense on the field for 93 minutes interrupted by a three and out.

I'll never understand the Florida game defensively.  Lol

Sark needs to take a page from Kirby’s playbook and bitch more at the officials. Not sure if it’ll help but 95% chance we get screwed by a terrible flag or a tick tacky one.

This is chess and Sark better be on his game. Kirby and the refs will.

Perhaps the biggest challenge is the fam talking Brazilian all-you-can-eat brunch next Saturday.  Consuming that much cow and pig just hours before a night-game alcoholic consumption of Dionysian proportions could be a recipe for disaster

Whiskey will complement that well and balance out the meat sweats.

Couple of things for people unfamiliar with UGA this year.
This isn't their typical defense.  They are good-not-great, secondary is vulnerable, and have given up big plays. The front not being psychopathicly good can't cover their weaknesses elsewhere this year.
This is a better offense.  It's extremely efficient without being terribly explosive, and can beat you multiple ways.

Their d line is down but their LB’s are by far their strength. Endries needs to play his best game. Wish he could block effectively.

The LBs are as good as ever, tbh.  They just have harder jobs this year.

I completely expect Tre or CJ to break off one of our best RB runs of the season, only for there to be a flag for a questionable holding thrown on some backside blocker that had little to no impact on the play.

The college football world will be feeling gravity’s pull towards Athens, GA this Saturday for a November matchup between two heavyweights.  Games like this are truly part of life’s rich pageant. Many are making the pilgrimage to one of the great college towns, which happens to be the birthplace of one of my favorite bands.

History has formed a perfect circle and the Horns now rematch with a team they were twice unable to beat last season. But this Georgia team isn’t the monster they have been in past seasons - it’s time for a reckoning.  There is a murmur of concern for both squads, as another loss for either team will bring the realization for their playoff goals that they can’t get there from here.  We can talk about the passion of the two fanbases, but it shouldn’t be hard for either team to get up for this game.

It should be a perfect fall evening, but for those hoping to see a sloppy mudfest, there is little chance for so. central rain - I’m sorry.  We’ve got the evening timeslot for this game, so even if you are a daysleeper, you should be able to catch this one.  Sadly, I can’t make the trip this year, so I will be watching by the fireplace with the one I love.

Just over two months ago, our Horns had a pre-season #1 ranking and many CFB pundits telling Arch you are the everything.  How quickly a tough loss in Columbus and an inexplicable loss in Gainesville had us all feeling low.  Just a couple of weeks ago, the injury report made it seem like everybody hurts, but the extra rest during the bye week has improved that situation.

There is still a lot of hope left for this Longhorn team to approach the accomplishments of legendary Longhorn teams.  Reflecting on those teams and their magical seasons, I would star ‘69 - back in the days when we had just put a man on the moon and Radio Free Europe blared over the Iron Curtain.  And who can forget those nights at the Rose Bowl in ‘05 and ‘06?  I remember California.

If the Horns don’t begin the begin with at least a 21-pt lead in the first half, many on this board will be screaming that it’s the end of the world as we know it.  After the Vandy game, many have valid concerns… “what if we give it away?”  I’m not as pessimistic as some, but if we see ref shenanigans like there have been in so many UGA games this season, I will surely be losing my religion.

But there are 1,000,000 different ways this game can play out.  It could be a defensive struggle with a 9-9 score as the regulation clock runs out of time.

The Georgia DL is a strength of their team, so Arch will have to implore his line to not let the weight of those 300 pounders fall on me.  Here’s hoping that the offense comes out like the high speed train we saw in the past two games.  Arch’s catapult of an arm will have to come up big on this stage.  It may come down to one big drive late in the game, or it may hinge on a drive ‘r 8 throughout the game.  If the offense doesn't stay on schedule, Arch will consistently be staring down the barrel of the middle distance - not a formula for success.

If we don’t see Taafe back for this game, there is a real danger of defensive confusion, with a green secondary wandering around like they are gardening at night. But if the players execute and stick to assignments, this defense should play like an orange crush and no one should have to be Superman and make a miracle play on their own.  If history is a predictor of future events, this defense will need to bow up and make an important stand at some point in the game.

This Longhorn team just needs to remember that everyday is yours to win.  I believe that at the endgame, after a hard fought win that leaves our visiting crowd of shiny happy people in near wild heaven, the team will gather in front of the visitor’s section to sing The Eyes of Texas, which we all know to be the finest worksong.

I never would have suspected you to be a B-52's fan.

We belong. This game will be played half a world away from Austin, but we played them in a hostile environment in Atlanta last year. This is more Texarkana than Dallas, but hopefully that leads to an us against the world mentality. Hopefully our team has spent a lot of time watching Georgia this week and has soaked up their tendencies like a sponge. I hope our guys walk unafraid into Sanford Stadium and are not second guessing their preparation.

We just need to stand on the offense we excel at, and scrap Sarkisian’s preferred style of play. No more square pegs in round holes.

This game needs to be treated like round one of the playoffs and we are the 12 seed.  Spread their defense out and force their line to run sideline to sideline.  Arch needs to bring his A+ game on Saturday.   We have to win on third down to be successful so limit the negative plays.  Everyone needs to know their assignment and play with certitude   There is little to no room for second guessing.

This is a winnable game.  All gas and no brakes is here.

You're cutting that shit awfully thin. How many conference road games against top 5 teams (at the time or at the end of the year?) do you think we've played in the last 20 years? The only conference road games vs top 5 teams since 2010 that I'm aware of are 2015 @ TCU and 2010 @ Nebraska. We are 1-1 in those games.

Those were the only 2 true conference road games against a top 5 conf opponent since 2005.   We also had 4 neutral sites conf games against a top 5 team (2008 OU, 2011 OU, 2018 OU in the CCG and 2024 Georgia in the CCG)

We've had more true road games against top 5 teams OOC teams than road games against top 5 conference opponents in the last 20 years - 2005 Ohio State, 2017 USC, 2023 Bama, 2025 Ohio State

- Georgia has the nation's 12th-ranked rushing defense. We have the nation's 96th-ranked rushing offense. Our hopes of generating a solid rushing game are vanishingly small, and without a ground game our play-action based offense is going to get stuck in the mud just like it did against Kentucky.

- Georgia's offense is much improved this year, with Stockton at QB and Noah Thomas + Branch at WR. Our secondary has struggled the past few games. Another bad matchup. Our LBs looked lost covering tight ends against both Mississippi State and Vandy, and Oscar Delp is one of the best tight ends in the SEC.

- So we need our defensive line to generate sacks and pressure. Unfortunately, Georgia's pass-protection is the best of anyone we've faced this year. They've allowed just 11 sacks so far this season, T-23rd best in the country. (By comparison, we've allowed 18).

No individual, position group, or overall matchup gives Texas an advantage. Probably going to see something like a 34-20 Georgia win, with our offense mired in quicksand all game and our defense ground down from spending too much time on the field.

The maddening thing about Georgia is that no matter how ugly the game is or how poorly they play, they damn near always seem to find a way to pull out a win (except against Bama for whatever reason). I don't like those assholes and I fucking hate Kirby, but credit where credit is due. Winners win.

And let's give a little credit to this Longhorn team as well. It's looked really, really bad at times against Kentucky and Mississippi State and whatever ref fuckery that happened in the fourth quarter against Vanderbilt, but this team has found a way to grind it out, outlast their opponent, and make enough plays to win. So fuck whatever schemes or matchups you want to talk about, this game is about outfighting and being tougher than these fucksticks for 4 quarters and however many overtimes it takes. That's the game to me.

Not that I agree with Satya's pessimism, but the only teams we've faced with athletes comparable to UGA are OSU, Florida, and OU. And all of OU's comparable athletes were on the defensive side of the ball.

The team has clearly grown and improved since the losses to OSU and Florida. But even though we beat OU, we did it with defense and special teams. The offenses did enough for us to win, but they didn't cover themselves in glory either.

So even though it's not a perfect predictor, that sample size does not fill me with hope and optimism about us playing a team with some of the best talent we've seen all year.

Sure, it is a tough opponent. That is a given. But I'd say offense did quite a bit in beating OU. We ran for 136 and Tre averaged 4.3 per carry. That is pretty fucking glorious against a team that only allowed 63 yards rushing (1.8 per rush) against Tenn and 116 yards rushing (2.8 per rush) against Ole Miss. Let's not downplay the offense too much in that game. It was a legit good offensive performance against a very strong defense.

Our offensive success hasn't aligned with our opponents' defensive statistics all season. Why start now?

Georgia is generally a slow starting team….go into halftime, make adjustments and then comes out, wears you down and stomps on you.  Sark needs to counter also make adjustments and throw the kitchen sink at his ass.  Our D has to not give up any big plays and create some turnovers.  Georgia is prime for an ass kicking, and we’re the ones to do it.

I would not compare OU and Georgia. They are different defenses. OUs reliance on movement up front makes them uniquely vulnerable to OZ. The rushing stats the last few years is evidence of that.

I think this is going to be a Sark game. His gameplans tends to have high volatility. When he dials it in Texas is very good early and we hold the remote with white knuckles late. Georgia has been a slow starting team all year. They average the least amount of pts in the 1Q (6 vs 10+ in 2/3Qs). They allow 7.4 pts (vs 5.1, 4.4, and 4.3 later). Getting an early lead in Georgia would be huge to take the crowd out. Sark needs to find those couple wrinkles early and score some quick pts.

Average is a shitty stat. Wisner ran for 57 yards on 21 carries (2.71 per) if you take away the one long carry of 37 yards. Our rushing attack from the RBs was terrible and ineffective most of the game. Wisner caught fire in the fourth quarter, especially catching the ball.

OU is not comparable to UGA, especially on offense and running the ball, where UGA has been extremely effective. OU's offense sucked and Texas scored only one offensive TD, a ST TD, and went 3/5 on FGs. If we play like we did against OU against UGA, especially on offense, we'll lose.

When does the SEC release the Ref assignments?

If we get the crew led by Gomer Pyle, we are not going to get any favors from the Refs.    None.

But Kirby certainly will.  At least once.

I certainly wasn't using OU to predict Georgia. I'm just pointing out that you can't predict our offense based upon the opponent's defense. We've struggled against bad defenses. We've had success against very good and even great defenses. His "analysis" is far too negative. I think a key matchup is whether we are better able to control Georgia's TE then we have managed against other TEs the past few weeks.
