I occasionally work with a Romanian crew of carpenters, and these guys are the highest of high end, and if you think the Poles are the only ones with a big ax to grind with Russians, think again.  Some of these guys grew up under Soviet rule and they've told me stories.  While Romania hasn't had the financial success of post Soviet rule that Poland has had, the hatred runs pretty deep, probably on a near equal level.  Perhaps not as uniform as the Polish population, but it's significant.

It’s kind of amazing to see the long term effects of occupying your neighbor states and exploiting/abusing them like they're far flung territories. Spoiler, they fucking hate you and they harden along your own fucking borders. In hindsight, this was all incredibly predictable… and frankly, avoidable, if Russian leadership was ever capable of giving a single flying fuck about individual people.

I’m sure that in years last he was talking about how Israel was going to be driven into the sea multiple times over the last 70 years because her enemies far outnumber her.  A lot of people do not realize that even today, Israel’s population is only around 9 million people, yet they have no problem tangling with countries that are substantially larger in population and land mass. But in his world, Israel couldn’t have won.

And I’m sure he thinks that just one more mobilization after the last 5 mobilizations is all Russia needs to take Kyiv.

On a side note, could you imagine the scraps that Russia will be picking up for their next mobilization?  The guys who either couldn’t afford to flee the country a year ago, or who were deemed unfit for the previous mobilizations.

They’re doubling down on butt fucking themselves for generations.

I work with a guy that immigrated here from Romania over 20 years ago. He served in the army when Romania was a Soviet state. He definitely hates the Russians. When shit was going down in Moldova, he told me he and his friends used to like going there to pick up chicks back in the day.

I usually don’t post stupid vatnik shit but this effort framing the Black Sea Fleet HQ and Russia’s only Black Sea dry docks as “soft target” is an all time banger of pure copium.

Hopefully someone in that thread asked him why such an essential repair facility, occupied by two valuable naval assets, would be a soft target.  Repair facilities are strategic assets that are primary targets.  As such, they should have robust air defences.  He's a moron writing to sway morons.

That air defense system they took out in Yevpatoriya was really big, and was a major part of the defense of Sevastopol.  Russia is going to have to sorty their entire fleet at this point, and getting them out on the open ocean may very well open them up to a lot of Ukrainian attacks.

They are evacuating Kupiansk (near Kharkiv) as the Russians appear to be trying to take it for a second time.  If so, that's good for Ukraine in the south, since those Russian troops will not be able to be moved down to reinforce Crimea.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

“In a one-on-one conversation, Kim Jong Un invited Putin to pay a visit to North Korea, which President Putin accepted with gratitude,” Peskov told reporters during a regular call.

Ukraine hitting Russia where it hurts the most (and targeting their electrical infrastructure)

One civilian has been killed and one has been injured as a result of Ukrainian shelling in Russia's Kursk region, the region's Gov. Roman Starovoit said Thursday. A forklift driver was fatally injured in the village of Tyotkino in the Glushkovsky district near the border with Ukraine, when a distillery in the area came under fire, Starovoit said.

Ukrainian shelling also damaged power lines in another village in the region, he said.

If there was video from the scene, it'd probably be something like this:

Thanks - I just wanted to out the Hallmark Channel viewers.

Laugh if you will, but a well-made, and acted, movie about people and their relationships is a nice change from a bunch of men in tights and a cape throwing buildings around or endless car chases and heads exploding.

Just say "It has Diane Lane" in it. I will always watch a Diane Lane movie over a superhero movie.

What does a "well-made, and acted movie" have to do with a Hallmark movie?

So the Russians reportedly have 57 batteries and 456 launchers of the s400 system deployed in Russia for air defense.  Given the cost of the system, reportedly $500 - $600 million per battery (Ukrainians promoting that it's $1.2 billion), I wonder how many more of these they could afford to deploy to Ukraine.  While in theory, I'm sure they could reposition active air defense in Russia to Ukraine, that would seem to be out of the question as it would leave holes in their air defense.

This was reportedly the 3rd S400 system destroyed by the Ukrainians, 2 of which were done in fairly rapid succession; today and August 23rd.  At a certain point, the Russian's will either have to stop deploying these out of lack of availability or fear of destruction.  I have no idea what that tipping point is, but this sets up nicely to help the new air power coming on line.

See, this is my million dollar idea....."Hallmark After Dark."

You watch the regular Hallmark Movie, where cute busy NY gal ends up in Christmas Falls, and ends up falling for the local handyman or some shit.  They kiss, the movie ends.  Then...."Hallmark After Dark" begins with "Christmas Falls Part II: the Holiday Whore."  This movie focuses on the freaky sex the new couple has, including some shocking moves the gal picked up in NY that really surprise the handyman....but he quickly gets into it, and deploys some creative ideas of his own....

We would OWN the "Fifty Shades of Gray" demographic.  We would OWN THEM.

This already exists on Saturdays on the ID network, only it ends with a murder (I think it's actually called ID after dark).  Sometimes the wife and I watch this for laughs, because its sort of like the late night old Cinemax directors all got jobs directing these.  It's over the top and gloriously ridiculous.  You get no titties and badly simulated sex, along with really bad acting, by what appears to be fitness models.  The funniest part is in the end when they show pictures of the actual guilty parties.

So....not what I'm pitching at all.

Women want porn just as much as men do.  They just want it with actual plot, and romance, and all that jazz.  Hallmark movies serve that up on a silver platter - I'm just proposing that we take it over the finish line.

Even my wife will comment/mock the end of a Hallmark movie, where they kiss, and then just stand on the porch looking at the snowfall.  "Bullshit....they'd be inside fucking by now."

Oh, and to get this back on topic....I'm confident there is a lot of new Russian "talent" in the West that's ready and available to take on these roles.

My kids were in a Hallmark movie filmed in Bastrop. It sucked. But they got to meet Willie and he signed my daughters violin and sang happy birthday to her.

Again, the movie sucked.

Looked up the movie.  It starred Connie Britton.  Therefore, by definition, it cannot suck.

Again, to go back on topic, the West and America will prevail in this war, because we have people like Connie Britton.  10X hotter and classier than anything Russia has to offer.

Cast Lyndsey Lohan and she can write and direct all the nasty scenes from memory of her time with the Saudis.

Shh. We tall good-looking men running artisanal businesses in small towns need Hallmark to keep sending us burnt-out-but-well-heeled professional women to finance our secret meth operations.
