Squeeze those furballs extra tight and tell em ya love em. We got Gustopher a year and a half ago after our other Mini Aussie, Bevo, ventured in to the street. He was supposed to also be a mini but I called him a medium. He was 36lbs at his heaviest. He had the same dad as Bevo but different mom. They were both truly amazing dogs but we didn’t get enough time with either.

In September Gus had a full seizure. End of October he had two back to back. Long story short he was on every medication known and he was having them every day the last week. We made the decision yesterday to let him finally rest and go hang out with Bevo boy. I felt better about the choice when I cleaned out his medicines. He was on 6 meds totaling 20 pills a day and a nasal med when he’d have the grand mal seizure. I can’t imaging the toll the meds were taking but we were trying. I’m thankful I was able to hold and squeeze him until the end. Grown ass man crying like a baby but I was there holding him with love.

Love ya Gustopher. Hook ‘Em in heaven big boy. 78c43af6cbc206bd6d2793bc3491af4f.jpg

Feel deeply for you.  We are working through a similar situation with our Penny girl.  She was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy almost five years ago.  We have been lucky with a treatment regimen that has kept the seizures mostly under control.  Recently the frequency of the breakthrough seizures has been increasing.  We've gone from maybe once a month six months ago to nearly one a week.  The intensity has been milder, but the increasing frequency has us thinking hard about her quality of life.  For now, she seems happy and has way more good days than bad days.

That's all we can do.  Try to give them as many good day as we can.

Hugs from Penny.

Best of luck to Penny, and prayers for your family. It was extremely hard to do but had to be for the better. With the big trauma moment and passing of Bevo I knew we couldn’t chance that again. Everyone loved him extra yesterday during the day and made our peace.

Initial diagnosis was same as Penny but with the continued breakthroughs, blood levels decreasing, and such a young age the Doc was fairly confident there was more at work. Neurologist was recommended but I just felt even that would prolong the inevitable.

Sorry for long posting. Just working my way through it.

Good dog(s).  We're nearing the end with one and are starting to sense some change in the other.  They bring so much happiness into our lives.  Not the sharpest knives in the drawer but huge personalities.

My daughter is always sending me links to stuff she sees on instagram.  She sent me a link to this the other day saying I need to get one for Sebastian.  If I did it, his persona would have to be  the Don.

Tough week without the big man waiting for me at the door in the morning after dropping the kids off. Then we’d spend 15 minutes outside. Not to mention the non stop naps at my feet while I worked.

One had a long, tiring, 45 minute coach pitch game. The other had to guard the house by himself for 2 hours. It's a rough life for both.

Purpose of the mirror behind the feeding bowl? Does it help with something?

No - just had it laying around and he’d look at himself in it so just put it behind his food for the funz.

Actually the opposite. The mother was watching and could tell when Luna was annoyed. She snatched the crotch goblin up right after that pic.

fyi, I'm doing sitting and walking services thru Rover if any of y'all in central or north Austin could use some help. Dm me for my profile. Started bc as far as a side hustle, couldn't think of anything better than being able to love on doggos (and cats!) If it makes it less weird, I'm part of the surly gal cabal, lol...  If this is inappropriate please ignore:)

Trixie (12 months) going in for her spay tomorrow. Think good thoughts. I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm a little anxious about it. I'm a dog veteran, so I thought. Damn these creatures.

Lots of whimpering coming off of the anaesthesia. Very tired now. Please leave that incision alone and don't make me put that cone of shame on you. PXL_20250501_041716185.thumb.jpg.693f554686887b36d333367c10a0f7af.jpg
