More escalation than deescalation to these eyes.

"This is President Kennedy communicating with Secretary Khrushchev"

India specifically didn't target military installations. Look tough for calming the internal pressure, but signals to Pakistan that it isn't a full on war.

I had forgotten about that character from season one. I wonder why he was written out of the series.

I didn't know "Paki" was a slur. TIL.

To the guy who didn't believe India jets were shot down. Pakistan now says it’s downed five Indian jets (Delhi reportedly cedes at least three have “crashed”), and the two are now trading artillery along Kashmir. So that's fun, with nuclear foes starting to skirmish.

Pushes can become shoves and shoves can become punches and punches can become an all-out brawl. That's the concern, not that there is a little dust up right now.

Centuries, decades, whatever it takes.

Also, TIL that there are some folks who didn't know that India + Pakistan + Bangladesh used to be one country less than 75 years ago.

Yeah, neither did I. After googling seems like its a thing, UK origin. Figured it was more similar to "Brit" or "Aussie".

I feel like I need to go apologize to my back yard neighbor now. He is a really good guy and throws cool parties.

Was India standing under Pakistan’s tent or vice versa? Hopefully they keep their nukes stowed in their gym bags.

They shouldn’t have had nukes in the gym bag in the first place. But I read a rumor on Nextdoor that they were invited into the tent by someone he knew from prior skirmishes

He also secured a pardon for his felon father, Charles, granted by his father-in-law on December 23, 2020. One could consider it a late Hannukah present but I suspect given the grantor, it was a Christmas gift from one felon to another. Because, you know, there was a war on Christmas that year.

I’m guessing that India is on the verge of signing a trade deal with the US. Trump wants to wave that agreement around proclaiming that it’s the best huge deal of all time.

However if the US even slightly backs Pakistan or condemns India, India will tear up that agreement. It’s the perfect time to demand something from Trump even by not asking for that something.

All I can think about anymore is how Netflix better nail the Trump series they inevitably do. I fantasize about him dying and things going back to normal...and eventually being able to laugh at how much insanity we all survived.

Probably none of that will end up happening

The US would NEVER back Pakistan or condem India. Where are you getting that from?

Pakistan is backed hard by China. We are anti-China very adamently when it can be done via proxy and shadow like in this case.

If anything we are tying up closer to Russia through all this because India's arms are heavily supplied and financed by Russia.

IMO

But then again, Trump is a moron, so he might actually do something wildly illogical by somehow backing Pakistan (e.g. giving some concililatory or complimentary language like "Shariff is a great guy, Pakistan and I are friends") and condemning India and being in direct conflict to his aims in other areas and completely mixing signals. I guess.

Pakistan launched several drone and missile attacks aimed at Amritsar and Ferozepur, injuring multiple civilians, and bombarded Srinagar airport with missiles.

India responded by targeting three Pakistani airbases in guided missile strikes. Unconfirmed reports suggest at least one plane was destroyed on the ground in Nur Khan.

All-out war is now inevitable.

Historically the US has been more aligned with pakistan and not India. India was aligned with the USSR. And while you might think that was forever ago, pakistan is less than 75 years old with their current configuration 55.

and my point wasn’t that we were going to back Pakistan here but that India has insurance that we won’t. Therefore India can play an American crisis to their advantage. India would want the US to stay out of it, and an unsigned trade deal guarantees that.

I believe the bolded is incorrect. They did bidness with the Soviets and had good relations with them, but I don't think they were ever "aligned" with the USSR. I'm pretty sure they were one of the leaders of the non-aligned (Third World) nations during the Cold War.

India used old Soviet equipment as well, some French but mostly Soviet, Pakistan was sold weapons by the US to counter, but right now their best planes are Chinese, the J10-CE with PL-15 (export version) had its first confirmed kill against a Rafale with a bleeding edge EW avionics.

Trump is such a nuclear class fuckup, and no I will elaborate here.

He’s an illiterate moron when it comes to history. A reporter needs to ask him where India is located on a map. Where is Pakistan? He has no idea. If one of his Nazi advisors told him they are fighting because of an ancient bushido code violation he’d repeat it not knowing how insanely dumb and wrong that statement would be.

The thank you for your attention to this matter always gets me.

He's such a dolt.  Always throwing in phrases from other contexts that he thinks sound cool or businesslike or something.

One of these days, he's going to bust out a "govern yourself accordingly" (that was a conclusion to a cease-and-desist letter a client got probably 25 years ago and sent by an aging lawyer from, IIRC South Carolina.  The legal lingo in the original 13 colonies tends to be especially archaic.

It would have left a permanent mark on any other president. It would still be a punchline the right uses today if Obama had done it. "Hey Barry, negotiated any peace deals recently?? ha ha ha"

Posted

Barry readily admitted his nobel peace prize was wildly premature in his acceptance speech, and the right still mocked it, here is Donald taking credit for the sun rising from the east and they eat it up as some sort of "troll the libs"

There is no adversarial system possible with people that pathetic, the system failed.

Magats will only hear the first part. And if you were to tell them that the actual countries involved denied it, “well, of course they would say that because they don’t want to give dear leader credit because everyone is just so mean to him and it’s not fair!!!!!11!”
