Only Joey Freshwater dog humping Ole Miss could distract the nation's attention from the delicious tears rendered as a result of Battered aggy Syndrome!

Most of the nation doesn't give a shit about aggy. Texans are still tuned in.

Watched my taillights fading, there ain't a dry eye in the house
They're laughing and singing
Started dancing and drinking as I left town
Gonna find my way to heaven, 'cause I did my time in hell, oh yeah
I wasn't looking too good but I was feeling real well

This is so wrong. The clown show is exactly why we tune in. No other sport gives you this kind of insanity, drama, stupidity, pettiness and shadenfreude.

Deion

Billy and His Hoe

Lane and his hoes

Sark and his kink

This is the very very short list and it is reason enough alone to applaud and rejoice!

Thought he was being extremely honest and nothing to regret for that reason.

Lincoln had the right idea

you leave like a deadbeat dad in the middle of the night. You give no indication of anything. You just fly the coop before Stoops can run you down in his golf cart.

but seriously. The Lincoln story on Crimson and Cream from the first hand accounts was stunning.

Wait what are the first hand accounts of Lincoln fleeing Norman?

Thank God this can be over.   Hearing everyone dote over coach nepo baby non stop all weekend has been mind numbing.

You didn’t hear me doting over this drama, the aggie tears schadenfreude has had all my attention.
Tonight is the first I’ve heard about this coaching change.

Marty Smith stalking Lane for about a week was possibly the greatest thing to ever happen to the coaching carousel.

The whole time he had that why the fuck am I even here look on his face whole progressively looking more and more tired.

Yeah, whatever you think of Kiffin, I don’t think he did a thing wrong here. He stayed until his team played its last regular season game. He didn’t talk about it all so it wouldn’t become more of a distraction. He isn’t the one who made it a distraction.

He then made and announced his decision quickly. He tried (or said he tried) to stay to coach the playoffs. He wanted to take some coaches with him, which any coach who likes his assistants would. the guy was the hottest candidate in this coaching season. He got a nice payday.

a. He didn’t ruin his team’s season.
b. He didn’t drag all this out.
c. He didn’t smear Ole Miss.

Not sure what else anyone thinks he should have done. He’s not the one who created the drama. And I am not suggesting I feel sorry for him.

It would have been cool if Lane stopped before entering the plane and turned around to throw double deuces like Richard Nixon.

I disagree about him not dragging this out. Hard to believe he decided last night. Everybody believed he was going to bolt.

In this era most fanbases are going to be like that. We might not be but most would.

We will see more coaches leaving in the middle of the night versus having this immortalized on the internet

But what could he have done differently? If he had announced a decision sooner, he would have had to leave his team and maybe cause them to lose games as a result. He could have announced right after the Egg Bowl and shit on his team’s celebration.

What a cunt. Some of his answers could be pure parody.

Can’t wait for his cool dance video.

When they introduce him at LSU he needs to say something like “and I knew only the Lord could give me the wisdom and courage to make this decision. And in the still, cool darkness of the Oxford night, I knelt alone, to talk to the Lord. And the Lord said “Geaux Tigahs!”

They will eat that up in BR.

I think it would take a Cajun accent (or at least a New Orleans accent) for that to resonate. And Lane doesn’t have enough time to learn it and pull it off without sounding like Brian Kelly. Now, if he hires Ed O, he can have Ed tell the story on his behalf…

Pretty sure he said Roll Tide according to their quarterback’s post game interview yesterday.

Trying to blackmail Ole Miss into letting him coach the playoffs via threatening to poach as many players and staff immediately was a pretty shitty move.  There's been no pushback from Lane regarding those threats, including telling the other coaches to get with him on the plane to BR this afternoon or they won't have a job.

This of course also requires that you give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't make his decision until today (I call bullshit here) as well as his desire to coach Ole Miss in the playoffs is due to his loyalty to the players and not for his own ego (I call bullshit here as well if that's going to be his claim).

I just don't think that LSU is that much better of a gig these days than Ole Miss. Lane can do whatever he wants, but his track record speaks for itself. It's fine if you don't want to think him a villain, but he is, in broad terms pretty scummy.

I’m fine viewing him as a villain, but you’re crazy to think Ole Miss is in the same ballpark as LSU. The only reason they have any sort of relevance right now is because they tied themselves to Kiffin. It’s also just funny at this point to see the commentary. When is the right time for a coach to leave for a tier higher job with the way the portal system works? Kids sit out of bowl games, coaches jump ship before bowl games, it’s just the way of the world. I’m in the Ole Miss backyard, watching them sink back to mediocrity after riding the lightning and getting burned is entertaining.

That would be extortion, not blackmail.

I was entertained back in 11 or 12 when a mediocre Ole Miss came into DKR and beat Texas with a one dimensional offense. Granted, the year before Texas fuck-stomped them in Oxford, but the crescendo of our season vs Texas that year was comical. That said, I hate when they play each other because I have to cheer against a team I grew up loving.

Ole Miss will call it extortion. Was it? It’s a no-win situation. The players have a better chance to win with Kiffin coaching them, but it would be a mess either way.

And I doubt he made his decision today, but I do think him waiting to announce it was the best thing he could do for himself and Ole Miss.

Not only that, but LSU was apparently willing to wait for him to finish the season. The Ole Miss AD bungled this one.
