A story about a pathetic man's downfall

I've been reading the Trump SPAC is a good investment and you can quickly make a 50% gain if you were able to get in and sell immediately. It's also funny how even knowing that, the reputational damage for some of this big monied firms is such that they'd rather avoid the free money and the bad press. Would rather leave a bag of money on the road than deal with the fall out of being associated with Trump. That is saying something for Wall St. whose greed knows almost no bounds.

i'm not sure how this isn't already an snl sketch.

trump: "we love you, you did a great job today, we will get the nasty democrats behind this stolen election, and we will-"

director: "ok cut.  yeah, listen, this time, i need you to pull back on the stolen election part, you can still say you love them, but instead-"

trump: "the election was stolen, everyone knows that, they took it from me, even the democrat politicians know-"

director: "right, no, of course, but we're kinda burning sunlight here, it's been about 185 minutes since this whole thing started.  take a deep breath, hit your mark, and say your lines, no big deal, you know, just throw it away."

trump: "i'm gonna rewrite this, can someone bring me my sharpie?"

director: "i can't work like this."

I thought it was a documentary.

The suburban Trumpers always look so happy. Like Moonies.

Well, aren't the basics of running a cult that you deprive people of sleep, cut them off from anything familiar, and impose a new belief system on them? Sounds a lot like a gated community with an HOA and a two-hour commute.

Yeah I would’ve hated to be in charge of that shoot.

I just keep imagining some gay dude on an elevated chair with a bullhorn throwing up his hands and storming off saying “I’m sorry I can’t do this anymore this is just simply not going to work!”

Trump - “Hello fellow rioters. While we all know the election has been stolen it’s important that while you’re in the capitol, don’t necessarily kill anyone. Especially if you don’t have to. Be peaceful like I said. But if you run into mike Pence my cell phone number is 867-452-3_”

Director - “Cuuuttt!!!!”

Yeah, can’t explain that brain fart. But you’re right, it’s easy to confuse one sycophant for another. And I’d been thinking about that McCarthy interview since I first heard about it. Funny how I was oblivious the whole time I was compiling that post, even checking my Mark Meadows folder for the saved link to Nicolle Wallace’s reporting on the McCarthy interview! (Turns out I didn’t save it in my Kevin McCarthy folder either.) Weird.

“I would like to begin today by addressing the heinous attack that took place yesterday at the United States Capitol,” it opens. “Like all Americans, I was outraged and sickened by the violence, lawlessness and mayhem. I immediately deployed the National Guard and federal law enforcement to secure the building and expel the intruders. America is, and must always be, a nation of law and order.”

hahaha

Holy shit, read the executive order. Total coup

from what i've read, a lot will come down to "did trump and his people know what they were doing was illegal and unconstitutional?"  a lot of the defense will be "hey, trump thought he won, and it's totally ok for him to round up lawyers and make sure everything was on the up and up."

but when the hannity's of the world are chiming in with how you can and can't do certain shit, and any attorney within earshot is like, "no, you can't say this or demand that or send the military in blah blah", then it becomes a situation where he knew it was illegal and did it anyway.

that's obviously what happened, but it would be cool if it could be proven.

Fuck, I had no idea he was such a trumptard.  Bummer, but fuck Jon Voight (not to be confused with John Voight, the periodontist.  He's cool)

He and James Woods buttfuck each other with their Trumpy Bears.  Their old anuses (anii?) can't handle any hard plastic or similar material up their poop chutes, so the Don Jr. branded dildos made from endangered elephant tusks were a no-go.

I think not so much did they know.  The "quasi-legal" things (meaning not lawful or unlawful, but in the nature of lawsuits or legal strategies) are not good fodder for criminal charges.

But what they do demonstrate is a subjective state of mind (refusal to accept election results, etc.) that provides a motive for the actually unlawful parts, the riot, etc. So Trump's actions and inactions in support of the unlawful things is much, much harder to back away from.  It gives teeth to a prosecutor's question "you would have done any goddamn thing to stay President, wouldn't you?"

I agree with you and I will go a step further and say I think anyone getting their hopes up for any consequence coming DJT's way should probably get reacquainted with this ole chestnut:

A couple of things on that.  Trump has rarely if ever faced a criminal prosecution.  A lot of his tried and true tactics for evading massive civil judgments just won't work in the criminal context, although the burden of proof is higher.

Second, it was fairly foolish of anyone to expect a prosecution to result from the Mueller investigation given the law on prosecution of the sitting President.

Third, I am increasingly of the opinion that the impeachments were a colossal waste of time.  The outcome was basically foreordained and anything that happened in the House was basically wasted breath that only hardened each side and had nearly zero revelatory or persuasive value.

And those are the things that lead to the "ah well nevertheless" and "we got him" memes.

Trump has rarely gone against the government, and he has lost when he has.  Because the government doesn't usually fuck around.
