I said it back in January. It’s obvious that the “next Trump” will be one of the crazies that has managed to get into politics, not a politician who has pivoted to embrace Trumpism.

Obvious to pretty much everyone except Ted Cruz.

We know what must be done with right wing authoritarian personality cults . . . , ignore them. They feed on hate. They crave attention. And they hate to be ignored. Use your manners. Give them 1952 manners, as you shepherd them. Kindly.

And get involved in something you are passionate about, Our democracy is fragile.

We already settled the struggle between regression and progression with the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the Second World War.  It is part of the Western Canon they care so much about. They must have forgot.

The Love America Act would “promote patriotism in education” by not allowing federal money to go to any public schools that teach students about how white supremacy or racism played a role in the founding the United States. It would also require schools that receive federal dollars to ensure that students can read and recite portions of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Pledge of Allegiance at certain grade levels.

Let's take it farther Josh, let's have kids in the South learn the declarations of secession (can't spell secession without SEC!) in the War of Northern Aggression, so that they won't listen to the librools' trying to rewrite history about what the War of Northern Aggression was about, and the libtards can't put words in the mouth of those grand Southern leaders.

I look forward to kids all across Texas getting to the third paragraph of Texas's Declaration of Causes:

Quote

Texas abandoned her separate national existence and consented to become one of the Confederated States to promote her welfare, insure domestic tranquility [sic] and secure more substantially the blessings of peace and liberty to her people. She was received into the confederacy with her own constitution, under the guarantee of the federal constitution and the compact of annexation, that she should enjoy these blessings. She was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery--the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits--a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time. Her institutions and geographical position established the strongest ties between her and other slave-holding States of the confederacy. Those ties have been strengthened by association. But what has been the course of the government of the United States, and of the people and authorities of the non-slave-holding States, since our connection with them?

Why is it so important to some people that everybody learn about the Confederacy's lack of success in excruciating detail?  It's like studying the story of Dressbarn and why it faded away before it ever got big.  And it's like putting up statues of the backcourt of the Washington Generals.

Given Trump's disdain for losers, I really am surprised he didn't mock the CSA in some fashion.  Yeah, his ancestors came here after the Civil War, so he never had any connection, but still.  Also, those battlefields suck up a lot of real estate that developers could take advantage of in some areas.  Seems like that would bug him.

Good point.  He hates losers, hates unrefined people (which would have been a polite term for Southerners of the day), hates wastes of prime real estate, and the whole Confederate enterprise only lasted half the duration of his TV show.  I guess they make up for it by doing the one think that trumps hate in his eyes...they suck up to him.  Worship washes away a lot of sin.

Just joining his fellow traitor Cruz in intentionally kneecapping the Biden FP team by blocking ambassadors to bolster their 2024 run for president.

Oh just wait until the budget comes up. They are going to threaten the world economy unless Biden admits he was behind the tea pot dome scandal and the whisky rebellion.

With 8,600 migrants remaining under the Del Rio International Bridge, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday officials are using "unprecedented" methods to deter migrants from crossing into the state, including parking Texas National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety vehicles for miles along the border to create a "steel barrier."

Also, why do I think that the rumors about the border being open are being spread by far-righters.

Using vehicles for miles along the border to create a "steel barrier"?  Really?

Uh, what if the Haitians learn how to roll under cars or worse...step over them using the space created by two bumpers touching.

That does reek of her pushing him to do that.

Unless this is some bullshit attempt at reinventing himself/changing his image a bit to appeal to whoever (evangelicals? women?) in an attempt to put himself out there as a viable alternative in 2024 or 2028.   He's got to be desperate now that DeSantis and Abbott are competing while Trump is threatening to suck all of the air out of the room.  He never gets mentioned as a 2024 candidate.

Yeah, he's just been too big of a strident dick to be a viable national candidate, even on this timeline.
