Right.  So pretty much a similar year that we had.   I don't know if it's just a sign of online society in general but the mood swings on this board after a win or a loss are beyond fucking ridiculous.   I will bet anyone that UGA has a 3 or more loss season under Kirby in the next 3 years if anyone wants to take me up on it.  It's going to fucking happen.   I get everyone had high expectations but the days of going 12-0 and 11-1 on the reg are going to be over.  It's ok to be disappointed and pissed about offseason roster construction and pissed about the way things went in general, but this board having a meltdown over the fact that it's possible that our coach that took us to back-to-back semis (after 12 or so years of pure non-competitive dogshit) could possibly remain as the coach is insane

PUT. IT. ON. THE. WALL.

We are not Tech, aggie, OSU, Georgia or Oregon and we should align our expectations accordingly. Sark doesn't go out and buy mercenaries to fill gaps that tried and true Aggie Football players are waiting to step up and into.

I'm sick of all these 2%ers with the audacity to challenge Sark. I doubt any of them even attended Texas much less wore a uniform.

We should all be grateful! Winning is hard.

We didn't get blown out against Georgia.  It was a 14-10 game.  We had the momentum and they ran a gimmick play to get a 4th down and then we took a stupid penalty on another 4th down.  Then they did a gimmick onsides and it was ballgame.  That's not a blowout.  We make 1 stop and we win the game.

A play action pass isn’t a gimmick. Only a fool would try to run up the middle on Texas in a short yardage situation, because the team sells out for it. I’m not sure why that was the first time anyone has done that.

We just have to run the ball more and plug those gaping holes in the OLine and go back to regular practices. All things he could have done this year. Lol. 😂 don’t need conspiracy theory for any of that.

Those are certainly other, actually tangible, things than what I was referring to yes

The economics MASSIVELY changed between last year and this year. Sark has also started to show signs of losing the locker room. Something you should NEVER have happening in year 5.

And he's lying his ass off right now about staying. Also about drinking. And a lot of the things alcoholics lie about when they fall off the wagon.

You're wrong on that one.  You don't go for it on your own 29 on 4th down if you're not worried about losing that game.  TX had momentum at that point, but you could see it evaporate when Simmons jumped off and gave them the 1st down.

They’ve made teams jump like 3 games in a row. They weren’t going for it.

but in general, they went for it on 4th down because they knew our team couldn’t stop them, and if they dropped the pass or something, knew we wouldn’t score. They treated us like we should’ve treated UTEP.

They exposed so much in our secondary, that I’m far from convinced we beat Arkansas

He also said they practiced against onside kicks in preparation for the Georgia game. I’ll take actions over words.

You practice receiving onside kicks with the hands team. You put them on the field when you expect onside kick coming. There was no situational need for onside, it was Kirby Smart actually coaching. The hands team was not on the field. The regular receiving team looked like it had never even heard of or seen an onside kick, which wouldn't surprise any of us.

If Sark loses to Arky and aggy, I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to be let go. After starting #1 with championship aspirations, the bs with the nfl practices, how bad the line is, the other stuff rumored, it would be easy to have him “leave for personal reasons” or something to save face.

You think he'd leave "for personal reasons" over football non-performance; I'm telling you he's leaving for personal reasons that, among other things, affected his football performance.

The August national expectation was absurd. It infected some people's minds. Arch's performance against Ohio State should have immediately lowered all expectations. Certainly the loss to Florida should have. It's a crappy season considering the close games with crap teams, but it was naive to think we'd be the bully boy of college football this season from week 1.

Disagree about the expecations being absurd. Too high, maybe. But not absurd. We have one of the most expensive rosters in the sport. It's year five. Sark and the staff got an extra year of runway to plan for the Arch transition and his 2-year window.  They botched the portal, botched staff hirings, and egregiously mismanaged the roster. We have millions in NIL underachieving or not playing at all.

And I'm sure internal expectations were about the same. Sark and co were not telling the Mannings that Arch's third year in the program was gonna be a rebuilding year. They did not plan to have one of the worst lines in the country and both the worst and most expensive RB room in the SEC.

I think I already said, and might've typed, this - but I don't always post what I write, so I'll do it again.

What seems to explain most if not all of the fuckery we're wading through lately is that Del Conte has everything he needs to fire Sarkisian “for cause”, but he's a whole lot more interested in fixing the problems than in skewering Sark.

If Sark can be convinced to make necessary changes in both his personal life and in his coaching, he'll get another year to show up. We can argue all we want about what changes and whether he is both willing and able to do them. Don't care, had MensaTom and Coach Potatohead.

On the other hand, if Sark won't derectify his head, he'll be let go... preferably gracefully, if possible, but there's a definite possibility he won't go quietly, and shit is flung in all directions.

Some of us seem to want to watch the flaming fudge nugget dingdongs arching majestically across the skies, and the sooner the better. But I believe that Del Conte will do his best to keep things calm and professional, and that means “The University of Texas and Coach Sarkisian have mutually-decided to part ways.”

I think this last outcome is best for all concerned, although we may be waiting until post-aggy to see it.

I don't know if what Sark has fucked can ever be un-fucked.

if they knew we wouldn't score(which we had just done the previous drive from 36 yards out) why would any coach risk going for it?  just punt it and play defense.   harder to score from 70 yards away than 35(which, again, we had just done after the pick).

the real answer is he thought we would score and didn't want to give the ball back.   ballsy call and the onside kick was an excellent call to slam the door.

At a minimum, the fact that he has had to address it publicly to the media means its all over his radar. Thats better than nothing. Coaches and ADs have very little control over this stuff these days. If Sark's donor base is fine writing checks and letting him continue under his current structure, he's good to go for trying to rebound next season. But once one guy walks away, the other guys money becomes less impactful and it can cause a run on the whole operation. Thats why this is so shitty, Sark squandered some well aligned support this season. Its not easy to "get the bb's in the box."

This. The thing is with schools like us who have been dumping serious amounts of cash since NIL it’s not endless. The last four years we have pulled down some serious money. So when you dont make the playoffs as the schools that spend and pay the most money are expected to do like Penn State and LSU it is the equivalent of flushing money down the toilet.

The real answer is that he wanted to drag his nutsack across Sarkisian’s face and he knew there would be no resistance. Final score says he was right.

Any NFL aspirations he had in mind are dead right now.  So if he's gone, he's either fired for the whatever truth there is to the scandalous rumors or he quits.

Based on what? Kingsbury was fired from Tech after 3 straight losing seasons and a sub-.500 overall record. He then subsequently interviewed with both the Jets and Cardinals and ultimately parlayed getting fired into an NFL head coaching job. This is also the same league that gave Adam Gase multiple head coaching opportunities. Never underestimate the hubris and stupidity of NFL owners.

See Tech and Indiana don’t have wallet and money fatigue bc they just began flexing this past year. Aggie goes thru it like it’s water.  Miami blew a ton of money and if they don’t get in Cristobal is responsible for that,

if you spend a lot of fucking money for the portal, NIL, every other fucking thing the expectations will be high. And when you lose that’s a lot of money you pissed away if you don’t at least make the damn playoffs.

I just wanna know if we’ll ever call more than one arch designed run per game. To beat a Tosu or uga this offense has to have arch as a run threat

You have to understand that a lot of people don’t watch the NFL and don’t like it even on a football board, they don’t, they fail to see how a coach could ever think it’s a better gig than Texas so they will miss this point you are making my brother in Christ.

There’s plenty of blame for the season that goes on Sark, oline, RB, WR rosters and play calling.  But we’re also Arch not playing like complete ass vs Ohio State and a lot of Florida, along with other players mistakes on a couple plays vs Florida from having one loss and being ranked in the top 5.  So I wouldn’t say the sky is falling for him just yet.

And that is the way the vast majority of fans see it. Period. They may bitch every season about the coach or this player or that player but it’s as deep as it goes and they don’t want to know nothing.and it makes for a nice base to grab some dollars off of for these athletes we need.

Based on common sense.  Yeah you can't say his chances are zero ever, because the NFL has hires poorly, but they are close to it.  It's rare that NFL jobs even dip into the college ranks, and of the times it's occured Sark would be right there next to Kingsbury and Petrino as the most WTF hires.

OSU is 100% on Arch, though I do not think OSU wins that gaem with a better offensive performance. I think you saw a really conservative OSU offense, because they did not need to press. Florida comment is nuts. That game was 100% on Sark and his play calling. I cannot imagine a football fan that watched that game and didnt think Arch competed his ass off. Kid was getting almost every time he threw the ball.

Wut? You practice with your usual front line to be prepared for a surprise onside kick. They placed it right in the gap between Jonah and Roberson. Jonah was right there to make the play but was surprised and late because our special teams coach doesn’t practice this stuff with any type of urgency. Teams that are disciplined and prepare accordingly don’t need a hands team to stop a surprise onside kick against Georgias normal kick off unit.
