That was written by someone who has never watched Reuben Owens. Wow.

3.8 ypc in the SEC is like 10 ypc in any other conference.

I remember being devastated when he flipped or decommitted or whatever from his very early verbal.  And then y’all shrugged it off. And I quickly remembered why y’all are the pros at this shit and I just enjoy reading about it.

Friends of mine that have built careers around this liked Owens a lot early on. It’s an interesting thing when the scouts and gurus like someone early on, as it creates scrutiny.

There was a point, drawing a parallel from another cycle, where someone called me and said “dude, Zac Evans from North Shore is the truth. He’s going to be the best TB recruit in a decade. Unreal. “

I didn’t post that on Shaggy/Surly to a big degree because the player was a sophomore and Tom Herman was a buffoon. I did hype the guy a bit though.

Fast forward to that guy’s recruiting cycle and the same folks had learned more. “That guy checks every red flag for head case. Hopefully Texas targets one of the other national guys. “

They did. Thankfully to Herman and Drayton’s credit.

With Owens, his dad/stepdad is allegedly involved with real gangster shit. He was being investigated in a serious crime and a UT connect offered to help out locally. “Yep. Help out and we’ll take the commitment, thanks. “

Then more film and age arrive as the dad starts to demand money, meanwhile the case falls out of the system.

“Y’all should go get that money.”

And they did. Dude doesn’t like contact and can’t block to save his life. He is a pure product of a good sophomore season and lazy recruiting rankings.

I laugh when he is mentioned as ATM talent. Okay then.

Never mind it was early in the season for the Longhorns too.

Yes, but by their logic we got worse with playing our guys early while everyone else gets better. AgTard logic.

Bijan will obviously be a UT legend, but Evans was another I was upset about (at the time).  Again, I learned to just read and trust you guys.  I enjoy recruiting, but have learned I don’t know shit lulz.

The thing about recruiting is that you have to evaluate how good a player is now and how much more he’ll develop physically. Is he playing shitty competition? Is he physically maxed out?

I think that’s why people whiff on OL so often. They want to believe big HS OL are ready to go college players, but they have a crazy high bust rate. They’re often just bigger than everyone else but lazy as fuck. See: JPU.

Skill players, how does their game translate to the next level? People knocked Jonathan Brooks because he went to Halletsville, but if you watched him play, he wasn’t good because he was at a small school. His game was always going to translate. He was never going to just be depth

Evans getting kicked off his HS team the morning of the state championship game was a tell.

100 days out,  ESPN takes a shot at what to watch in the upcoming season.  Teams on the rise, key games, new coaches, lots of Texas, GA, OSU, AL.   What I didn't see was a single mention of an AM player, coach, team or game of interest,  other than when they play us.  Little Brother is properly back in the corner with their shine box.

3. Georgia at Texas, Oct. 19: These two blue bloods have played just once in the past 40 years -- a 2018 thriller in New Orleans -- but they're now conference foes. The Longhorns are fresh off a playoff bid. Georgia had a good case as the best team that didn't make the playoff last year. The teams will also have two of the top QBs in the country in what figures to be an epic showdown with SEC and playoff implications.

I mean... it was thrilling for me as a Texas fan at the game, but it was not actually that close for most of it, if I recall correctly.

Well, the pregame mascot skirmish was thrilling.

Texas controlled the game from the start.  Texas went up 28-7 about 4 minutes into the 4th quarter, and then Turtle Tom did what he does.  Georgia scored at the 10:25 mark to make it 28-14, and then scored a garbage TD with a few seconds left in the game to make it 28-21.  But anyone who watched that game knows that Texas whipped that ass.

Yep.  I was at the 50 yard line in the middle of the Georgia section, and those fuckers got quiet in the second quarter and didn't really make much noise in the fourth quarter when Georgia scored those last two TDs.  Nobody who actually watched that game would call it a "thriller."

You know that video will be the TV lead when Georgia comes to Austin this October.

I think they should try to get Bevo and UGA to make amends.

(I do believe that version of UGA is now deceased, though.)

Probably a PTSD event.  He died a few months ago.

Awwwww ….poor Uga. That really is sad.
Doesn’t that breed have a short lifespan?

Well, sure, once they saw they were getting their asses kicked.

Bulldogs are the perfect mascot for a school from Georgia, or from more than a few SEC skools.

Bulldogs have it worse than any other type of dog — they tend to develop heart problems, hip problems, breathing difficulties and a whole slew of other health issues that emerged after generations and generations of inbreeding.

Their expected lifespan is just 6 years.

Supremely delicious no matter the "winner", we all will win.

CU is my Telenovela of drama, terrible acting and language/sayings that I dont understand. Aggie is my reality show of roller coasters, myths, and fan fiction.

I remember I had a bet on texas taking the points (I wanna say it was 12 or 13 points), and I had just settled down on my couch with a cold beer  when Bevo tried to murder that little fucker. I laughed my ass off, thought about it, and jumped back onto my sportsbook and bet the Texas moneyline which was something like +425. Bevo set the tone and I took note. It wasnt even a sweat really. We just physically whipped their ass all over the field, much to my surprise.

Colorado.  Prime doesn't have the players.

Away from that ass whipping. I think Texas could have practically named the score on that one.

The more important question is who sells more sunglasses?

They are as much “military” as my basset hound. He likes treats and a belly rub too.

Wait, why are you giving belly-rubs to Aggies?  /no judgement

I had a Basset hound.  Norman.  He was a bigass snowflake, dumb as a box of hammers, but he loved belly rubs, and his ears stunk because he always had yeast infections.

One time i went a couple of weeks without mowing my back yard and he got lost in the tall grass.  Just sat there and howled.

My basset came from a breeder in Bandera, so he had to have a “cowboy” name, so his official name is Bucaroo, but we call him Bucky. Yes, after having corgi’s for 20+ years, basset hounds have to be one of the dumbest breeds of dogs.

Hook’em!!!
