Wasn't long ago that the GOP actually thought it was a good idea to be inclusive and attempt to attract minority groups that were conservative on some issues. Now those groups are called upon to be deported and soon terminated with extreme prejudice. A tweet from a candidate would have made national news and been condemned by national GOP leaders. Now its used to bring out more voters.

it’s easier and cheaper to disenfranchise their vote.

Oklahoma Supreme Court rules against the dumbass attempt at a publicly funded Catholic charter school. I'm sure they'll appeal to SCOTUS who can go rogue with the First Amendment, but I don't think they can overturn under the Oklahoma Constitution which has a very strongly worded and specific preclusion of public funds used to promote religion. For that reason, I expect SCOTUS would deny cert and wait for a religious issue that raises only federal law.

As noted above, really not a case for the SCOTUS.  Was decided per the OK state constitution, and the OK supremes have the final say on that subject matter.

He is arguing that Oklahoma misinterpreted Oklahoma's Constitution. That ain't going anywhere. There is no federal issue here. And even this Court isn't going to find one.

They also ruled that the contract violated the U.S. Constitution's Establishment Clause and rejected the school's argument that denying its charter would violate the Free Exercise Clause. But reversing those would not change the outcome under the Oklahoma Constitution, so I doubt that SCOTUS's fascist wing would want to take this case and would prefer to wait for a cleaner version that relies only on the U.S. Constitution. They'll find a better case next year as part of Project 2025.

I am mildly intrigued by the attack on Anne Frank’s story and their supposed support for Israel/Jewish people.

But then again…. It is also totally within character.

They hate the Jews based on the books they want removed, but need Israel for some kind of end times bullshit.

I have a cousin and cousin-in-law who teach at a semi-rural school outside of Tulsa, and for a while, they’ve been scouting out the Dallas/FW area, as well as places in a few other states in the Midwest, mainly for salary reasons. This is the kind of shit that will push them out.  They’ve kind of crossed Texas off their list, and if they ask, I’ll tell them we aren’t far behind OK.

The proper response is to begin tomorrow's lesson with "class, today we are going to talk about how some men have giant donkey dicks, and ejaculate enormous amounts of jizz, so much so that it is compared to how much a horse ejaculates.  Please turn your bibles to Ezekiel 23:20.  And remember, your homework tonight is to make a papier mache giant dick that ejaculates at least a quarter cup of fluid."

This is the path to take.

If I were an Oklahoma teacher, all I can say is that they would most definitely not want me to use the Bible as a teaching aid. I'd do a deep dive into every inconsistency, every story of god's wrath killing innocents, and every gross thing I could find. I would make it my goal to turn all my students into doubters and atheists.

  • Students, can anyone tell me why there are two separate creation stories?
  • Can any of you explain why god would be concerned with people worshipping other gods if they didn't exist?
  • Why do you think god would be so petty as to make Abraham almost murder his own son as a test of faith? Wouldn't an all-knowing god already know what was in Abraham's heart?
  • If god commanded the Jewish people in the Ten Commandments not to kill, why did he tell them to slaughter all the Canaanites?
  • Who here believes that people who didn't have access to modern healthcare could live 800 years?
  • Why do y'all think there are so many different and contradicting versions of the resurrection story?
  • Who did Cain procreate with if there were no other people to do it with?
  • How could a pair of every single species on Earth fit within the confines of Noah's ark, given that it was approximately only the size of a Super Walmart?

Coming soon:  the Trump Bible will be adopted by the State of Oklahoma as the only official Bible that can be purchased with state textbook monies, and any other Bible (or religious text) will not be on the accepted list.

The way I remember it was Abel worked hard all summer harvesting his crops, while Cain just played in the field. Then when Winter came, Abel had all the nuts; Cain had no nuts, so he killed him.

If anyone has nuts it was Cain. He was a farmer. Abel was a shepherd. God favored Abel’s sacrifices of meat over Cain’s plant offerings and that’s why Cain killed Abel.

The moral of the story is that God hates vegans.

The Carroll ISD has given the finger to the DOJ, saying it doesn’t have the authority to provide oversight on the racial issues plaguing  the district. They cited the SC’s Chevron deference ruling as a rationale for their defiance. When the interlopers from Balch Springs took their seats on the Carroll school board, they made their presence known in a hurry.

And Ryan can't fucking read.

Section 5. No public money or property shall ever be appropriated, applied, donated, or used, directly or indirectly, for the use, benefit, or support of any sect, church, denomination, or system of religion, or for the use, benefit, or support of any priest, preacher, minister, or other religious teacher or dignitary, or sectarian institution as such.

Any time a MAGAT invokes the Constitution, even a state one, you can be about 100% sure they have no idea what they're talking about.

Without reading the article let me play devil’s advocate-if you want to play ball in DeSantis Florida, particularly with the GOP attacking higher Ed as bastion of leftists, then spending money keeping friendly with the Gov and GOP dominated legislature doesn’t appear some secret kick-back machine, it seems like it’s necessary to preserve the institution.

That plays better if Sasse wasn't a longtime republican congressman...even if he was anti MAGA, and the fact that he more than TRIPLED THE BUDGET.

LOL at academic administrative bloat under the microscope at Florida. Sasse just resigned ostensibly as a result of his wife’s neurological post stroke seizure situation.

He's running to be Trump's Secretary of Education (or the Secretary of Dismantling Education).
