I don't always attempt to give myself Type 2 Diabetes, but when I do, I go to Shipley's.

The worst food poisoning I’ve ever had came a Shipley’s chocolate filled doughnut. Took one bite and thought “that tasted weird” and threw the rest away. That one bite was all it took. At one point it felt like someone took a sledgehammer to my kidneys.

I used to think that. I still do, to a certain extent. They certainly aren’t great kolaches. But they’ve grown on me since I moved to Houston.

So Bobby says that Cooper is a special player, a guy Sark has singled out, and that we want a big time RB in this class. But we pursued Crowell and Edwards hard and all the Cooper stuff has just come up recently. Cooper didn’t even OV. So do they think Crowell and Cooper are equivalent? If so, why not go all-in on Crowell just like we are with Cooper? If not, then Bobby’s logic doesn’t track. I dunno, I’m confused.

We pushed hard on Crowell and Edwards, but likely valued Cooper higher. Cooper wasn't reciprocating as much. After losing out on both Edwards and Crowell, we upped the ante on Cooper and are now in position to land him. He was delaying his commitment to see us in the fall anyway, but we made our position on him known and it looks like that will be enough for now.

It makes having the OV in our back pocket even more valuable as well.

Their kolaches fucking suck, and the fact that I’ve actually run into hardcore advocates for their shitty kolaches in my life is proof that humans as a species are stupid AF.

That’s like saying mange has grown on you since you’ve moved to Houston. It can be true, but I don’t think it’s saying what you think it’s saying about you. Houston is a big place. I dont know where you live. But I’d be willing to bet there’s a kolache factory somewhere nearby. Do yourself a favor and start there. If you’re anywhere inside the loop then the correct answer is Kolache Shoppe.

So, I'm a bit confused (shocker, I know). Who IS the real #1 RB in the nation? I've seen everyone from Savion Hiter, Ezavier Crowell, to Cooper? Hiter is from Virginia, which if we're recruiting NC, why not see what the kid has?

Anyway, it's all confusing. I remember seeing a pic someone posted (not here, but I can't remember where) that  Cooper was decked out in UT gear, from cleats to gloves, and everyone was just like he's trolling or whatever, but now it's hitting me that Scott and Sark, or hell, maybe even Sark + Orphey + Scott all hit this kid up.

Also, I may be misremembering, but I could have sworn Gerry said until Cooper steps foot on campus it won't get real, but I guess I missed where he was here in April. Personally, IDGAF if it's Cooper or Crowell...they're both 1)a and 1)b.

I just want someone to fill in the blanks that I'm obviously missing. Did the staff check out Hiter and he just didn't reciprocate the interest?

We offered Cooper early in the year and he did an unofficial visit.  We tried to get him into one of the big official visit weekends but he had long standing relationships with other schools so he OV’d there instead while we pursued Crowell hard.  Crowell was always top on the board.  When choice was here, he was leaning hard towards Texas.  I think he had taken 4 visits to Texas.  Once Choice left, he got upset and eliminated Texas the next day.  Sark still recruited him however.  KJ was always the 2nd back in the class.  Crowell and Cooper are more like Baxter, big physical backs that can inside with very good speed for their size.  Edwards is built more like Jayden Blue.  Once Crowell picked Bama, we moved from 1A to 1B.  If we prioritized Edwards as the feature back and offered him the same NIL package Crowell and Cooper are getting,  he’s probably in this class.  Osborne is also a smaller back and we stopped recruiting him when Chad Scott got hired.

Cooper is borderline 5 star back and would be one of the highest rated running backs outside of Baxter and Bijan to commit to Texas, assuming it all plays out in our favor.  I believe he was committed to Georgia at one point in time.

That’s where you get your proof? There should have been other indicators. For instance, I’ve seen you on Surly at least nine times.

Stop buying kolaches at donut shops. Also stop buying them at chains period.  Stop waisting money at Czech Stop while your at it, too much sugar and no poseka(slovaceks is much better).

Mom and pop places only.  Bonus points if they have an old Czech woman wondering around.

Only good Kolache place i ever had in Houston was a bakery in old downtown league city.

If we’re counting League City, the Prasek’s in Sealy should count I guess. Not quite as good as Hillje, but still very solid.

I'd take a slightly "worse" kolache than support the aggies. Plus round top has better kolaches than West.

You fucking people.

The worst kolache I ever had was so good I couldn’t stand it. It’s like tex-mex or pussy. Get a grip.

I knew a “well ackshually” pedant would show up before too long.

Also, what is the old Czech lady usually wondering about? Current events? The price of tea in China? Her best friend from junior high’s whereabouts?

We talking about Kolaches or are we talking about sausage bread/pigs in a blanket? Theres a difference and real Czech’s know it.

In Texas, kolache has become a universal term for both the traditional sweet as well as the savory.  And everyone knows it. Even if we did make up a different name for the savory.

I enjoy shipleys kolaches as long as they are fresh, which is rare. Try the Shipley’s Bold Jalapeno and cheese instead of the regular. They are way better. Big fan of those new breakfast egg sandwich things they sell now too

I don't care who's selling them.  I'd buy a slovaceks poppyseed kolache over that poorly ground, over sugared, poseka lacking garbage they sell at Czech Stop.  Village bakery was better then both but it's long gone.

People whining about getting bad kolaches, I'm just trying to alleviate their issues.

Ditto, last kolaches I got at Slovacek’s sucked ass.

I got some at Gerik’s recently that were bigger than my hand, and underwhelming.
