You don’t want to talk about his year at OU as the OC?

I'm just saying that we are looking for a WR coach who is a technician and a guy who can relate to the players. He's won a NC and has somewhat of a relationship at Texas. He can recruit Florida hard and can finish baking the cake. Make him say no.

Just to clue people in. Mack Brown began his career as a wide receivers coach, with stops at Florida State, Southern Miss, Memphis, and Iowa State, before becoming the quarterbacks coach at LSU in 1982.

Correct me if I'm wrong but between his Souther Miss and Memphis stops, Mack learned how to be a big gaping pussy.

Do they think people think one of Briles' kids or his wife was hired as OC/QB/AHC?

Plus his name is on the photo.

The idea is that he's in the way back, his kid's hat is covering part of his (tiny) last name, and they made his name unsearchable by not including it in the actual text of the announcement. The whole thing is to reduce the amount of BRILES anyone sees or associates with it and to discourage people from retweeting it with text like "this is disgusting" because at a quick glance the image is about a nice blond lady and her kids.

Spoken like a man from the publicity and branding arenas, and quite well, sir. TCU doesn't understand how pathetically transparent they actually are here with trying to mitigate their audacity in hiring this piece of shit.

You don't know she's nice, she could be rude.

It is my understanding that blondes can be both quite nice and quite rude, and when they're at their best, these things are true at the exact same time. Now, that's not the case for the rape enabler and his mare, but it happens.

Can we go ahead and add Henry’s kid to the calculator?

I believe GH mentioned 8 DL on campus with offers at Junior Day. 7 are out of state. Bo has his work cut out for him int his cycle. Based on GH’s comments this is a really down year in the IDL in state

247 on the hiring of Jahmal Fenner:

Spoiler

Sources sound off on new Director of High School Relations Jahmal Fenner

The role of Director of High School Relations is becoming a vital part of any coaching staff, especially in Texas.

The Longhorns apparently have tabbed Austin LBJ head coach Jahmal Fenner as the next man for the role. Fenner won’t have to go far from the east side of Austin as LBJ’s campus is just 7 miles from the UT football offices.

Chris Gilbert was a smash success in the role, and there will be big expectations for Fenner. At first glance, this hire looks like it’s a continued step in the right direction. Fenner worked magic with an LBJ program that was woefully underfunded and lacked the numbers of traditional programs. After reaching the 4A-DI state title game in 2021, LBJ was forced to move up to 5A-DII despite the lacking numbers following a decision by Austin ISD to opt the Jaguars up.

Despite being outmanned, LBJ achieved a 9-3 record before exiting the playoffs in the second round in a loss to eventual state runner up Port Neches-Groves. Fenner’s experience coaching in the inner-city equips him with a skill set that’s valuable in recruiting. Most coaches can recruit kids from the suburbs, but not every coach can get through to kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. Fenner did it for a living for his entire coaching career.

I spoke with several Texas high school football coaches around the state for their opinion on the hire. One retired DFW head coach who commands respect from the entire state raved about Fenner’s potential.

“He’s a local guy with a great eye for talent and how to develop it,” this coach said. “Where he was at, you have to know how to talk to parents and kids. He’s known in the metroplex and he’s a kid magnet. That’s a great up-and-coming young coach with success and experience.”

We spoke to another head coach in the Houston area with a state championship ring who grew close with Fenner in the last year.

“He’s a great guy and a great coach,” this coach said. “I’ve been able to spend a lot of time around him and really enjoyed it. That’s awesome for him. It’s a great choice. He’s a relationship guy. He’s got a proven track record and will do a great job continuing to build relationships with high school coaches for UT football. I’m proud to call him a friend.”

Relationships are a vital component for anyone in a recruiting role and that word continually came up with Fenner. We’ll see how he performs in the role, but with his background, he could be another fast riser in the college football coaching world. One well-known high school source summarized his rise and attributed relationships as the reason why.

“He’s gone from being a relative unknown in the coaching ranks who took over LBJ after the passing of Andrew Jackson to one of the most well thought of inner city coaches in Texas,” This source said. “He’s done it through hard work and relationship building.”
