Scott Van Pelt was saying he’s the potential #1 overall draft pick yesterday morning on his show. It’s not hard to imagine when you look at the season he was having, who would you take above him right now?

I don't start thinking about the draft at this point in the year, mostly. If you mean at QB? There are probably 30 guys I'd take ahead of him. He looks like a training camp/gadget guy. His body has taken a beating already. His arm isn't his best asset. He plays in an offense that doesn't translate well to the pro level. He's not incredibly fast. He's not tall. There's not a ton to like other than toughness. It isn't like OU was lighting it up in the passing game with this dude running things, unless Temple and Illinois State impress you.

SVP says all kinds of stupid shit and this is more of it. Mateer is 2025 Sam Ehlinger. People have lost their fucking minds.

Didn't Leach rank OU several spots above us, giving them the fraction of a point they needed to play in the B12CG? I've never understood the love affair with him on Texas message boards.

To be fair, Mateer is in fact lighting it up on passes where the WR fakes injury, pretends to leave the field, and is left completely wide open because they're cheating fucks. His completion percentage is 100 on those plays. Unprecedented.

Tech was undefeated and would have been the South Division champs if they beat OU  leaving us on the outside looking in.  We needed Tech to win to force the three way tie. One of the only times in my life I rooted for OU.

you mean break the 3-way tie

Ive fished near his house many times actually, but never seen him in person there. I hear he rides his SXS (or at least in the past) around Uncertain to the store/restaurants.

My nephew and his friend were at Caddo last year fishing near his place, saw him and spoke for a little bit…..a down to earth guy who was born in Gilmer…

No, create a 3-way tie. Tech was undefeated at that time. Texas had one loss (Tech) and OU had one loss (Texas). If Tech had won,  they would have been the South champs at 12-0 (8-0 conference) and OU would have been 10-2 (6-2). We needed OU to win so that there would be a 3-way tie. The tiebreaker formula came down to the 5th step : highest ranking in the BCS poll.  OU was second at  .9351 and Texas was third at .9223.  As others have said, a few votes in the coaches' poll ranked Texas unfairly low, and that was enough to make the difference.

Which should have taught any of you morons rooting for OU that you never root for OU.  I don't know why anyone would argue with that. Never root for OU.  Never.

Instead, root for the meteor the next time aggy plays Mobilehoma!  FUCK OU!

That is actually pretty funny.

Yes, a LA based orthopedic did not register on SoonerScoop to give comfort to Sooner fans.

Mateer is ass my guy. But nfl gms are dumb sometimes.

Nothing dumber than taking Arch at 1 after what we have seen.  But to your point, I wouldn’t put it past them.

SynTex seats are a synthetic, leather-like upholstery material used by Kia that combines synthetic materials to offer durability, a soft feel, and resistance to tears and stains, though some users report issues with dye transfer or oily smudges. Amen, brother--where would the world be without syntex?

Damn, OUsucks took an interesting turn.  The more you know...

His offense is just Mensa-level QB hero ball and now he's having to run the offense with the sidekick goon instead of the main villain.

So basically Caddie Shack 2 with Jackie Mason.

Ummm.....I offer you the Colts selection of Anthony Richardson though I will admit he wasn't the first overall pick.

Ian Boyd posted that the surgery stabilizes the thumb, and that there really isn’t much risk of worsening the injury after a couple of weeks. It comes down to whether he can grip and throw the football. That may take more time. Or not.

Mateer also has a sprained knee. That could use some rest, too.

I think there is a good chance Mateer can play. I don’t know how much of a chance there is that he doesn’t play.

In2009, the Sooners rushed Bradford back from a first week knee sprain to play in the RRS. He worsened the injury, missed the rest of the season and still went 1-1 in the draft. OU needed to win that game to have a hope of making the BCS CG. This year, they can make the CFP with a loss to Texas, but would need Mateer in good shape for their stretch run.

But they really, really want to beat Texas.

Maybe it depends on who makes the decision- Nagy or Venables?

It was Bradford's throwing shoulder that he reaggravated after Aaron Williams murdered him on an unblocked blitz.

Well, it’s true. We’ve played each other twice. I’d rather have seen that spot go to A&M.

Fuck all that, have you been to The Grove?  Highly recommend.  Who gives a shit if Lane is crying...even better, go get a road win and enjoy their wimmenz.  And once he leaves that will likely become a fairly easy W, even for poor ass Okie.

Either a separated shoulder or collarbone, I can't remember which.

Yeah, I just enjoy beating A&M more than all that.

Why is it hard to imagine?

Shitty footwork, shitty mechanics, shitty decision making, he is going to measure shorter than expected and isn't a freak of an athlete.

Who the fuck cares who SVP thinks is a high draft pick. Didn't we just go through similar bullshit last year with another quarterback.
