Super Bowl LVII - Las Vegas

His dad was an NFL head coach and the fanbase shit all over his best friend on the team (Simms). Chances of that ever happening were next to zero.
He was also OC for the skins at the time, not sure his dad would advise him to turn down the HC opportunity at his blue blood alma mater. Doubtful we hang on to him, but probably would have gotten another NC before the NFL pulled him back in.

I hope the dude who shredded his Achilles trying to run onto the field didn't see Christian's leg go complete GI Joe wrong direction before he popped right back up.

Still have a crate full of complete GI Joe wrong direction figures.  So this hits close to home.  Then again my Storm Shadow guy never fucked up his leg just jogging out onto the battlefield/my kitchen floor.

If his primary goal was to follow in his dad's footsteps and become an NFL head coach he would.  Going to Texas with no college coaching experience to clean up Mack's mess could have been a career killer.

Officials and the NFL rulebook say otherwise.  But you do you.

So your position is that any incomplete pass behind the LOS is intentional grounding?

Here is the rule:

Quote

It is a foul for intentional grounding if a passer, facing an imminent loss of yardage because of pressure from the defense, throws a forward pass without a realistic chance of completion. A realistic chance of completion is defined as a pass that is thrown in the direction of and lands in the vicinity of an originally eligible offensive receiver.

https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-rulebook/#section-2-intentional-grounding

The beyond the line of a scrimmage requirement is an exception to intentional grounding even if no eligible receiver is the area:

Quote

Item 1. Passer or Ball Outside Tackle Position. Intentional grounding will not be called when a passer, who is outside, or has been outside, the tackle position, throws a forward pass that lands at or beyond the line of scrimmage, even if no offensive player(s) have a realistic chance to catch the ball (including when the ball lands out of bounds over the sideline or endline).

This application of the rule is obvious, otherwise you'd have intentional grounding for every dropped screen pass. You don't because intentional grounding doesn't apply at all when an eligible receiver is in the area. But, go ahead and talk out your ass yo.

I suggest a strongly worded letter to NFL officials....

Not if he actually turns shit around. It would have taken 3-4 seasons, but I think he could have at least given us an appearance in the big game.

At the same time

Item 2. Physical Contact. Intentional grounding should not be called if:

  1. the passer initiates his passing motion toward an eligible receiver and then is significantly affected by physical contact from a defensive player that causes the pass to land in an area that is not in the direction and vicinity of an eligible receiver; or
  2. the passer is out of the pocket, and his passing motion is significantly affected by physical contact from a defensive player that causes the ball to land short of the line of scrimmage.

well, we can't be favoring the Chiefs, either.  Whether real, or perceived.

I don’t recall Kyle ever repping or proclaiming his love for UT ever in his coaching career unlike other NFL coaches with their alma maters.
