Because we won’t have to burn Lacey’s redshirt in case of an injury.

I assume that would only happen if both Arch and Owens go down? But agreed, doesn't hurt to have another option off the bench in case of emergency.

My wife is a Troy grad, so we follow them pretty closely too. Head coach was previously Notre Dame's OC.

This guy came in for the final five games after the starter got hurt. (So the stats noted are for those 5 games). He was.... Ok I guess? I thought he played better than the original starter. He went 3-2 (3 of our 4 wins), but gosh, offense was miserable to watch at times. Had a tendency to play hero ball. But definitely had some good moments. 4 TDs against Louisiana, 50 points against So Miss

Damn. Not ideal if true.

Come on Owens, get your shit together.

Eh, I wouldn't get all concerned about it as a fan. If it's true, this guy seems like a fine backup and Lacey and Bell are coming, and if the reports are just fluff and Owens is actually fine then we have lots of solid depth.

That's garbage. If that was the case Sark would have been harder after a legit P4 Level QB at the beginning of the portal, not some kid who was mediocre at fucking Troy after the portal closed.

It is about insurance, but purely emergency insurance because Lacy isn't physically ready to see the field in the SEC this season. Owens is QB2

Bobby said recently that Owens was the clear #2.  He didn't say if he killed it or sucked in spring but I think we would have known is Owens was stinking it up.  Also find that hard to believe considering they were raving about him last year.  I'll choose to believe that this was insurance policy to have a 3rd QB that can take snaps incase Arch gets hurt considering we'll see more QB runs and scrambles this year.  Don't think DT is very plugged in with Texas football inte.

Darius Terrell's connections to this football program are so tenuous that the premise of him having any sort of scoop is simply laughable. Is there a waterboy still working inside the AD from Terrell's time on campus 15 years ago? Who else? GTFO.

Can’t remember if it was Terrell or Greg Timmons that a buddy of mine shared African American studies with and they told the professor they didn’t come to Texas to learn they came to Texas to catch touchdowns. Either way neither of them did either.

I thought he was a highlight of the last spring game which at this point will be the last spring game

Texas football history is littered with guys who looked like All-Americans in the spring, and never did anything in games. Jeremy Hills is kind of the Earl Campbell of this category.

It's a floor raising move imo. If Arch goes down three snaps into the season, you raise the floor. Can't believe people are using this as an opportunity to shit on dudes when it's all behind closed doors basically.

Also anyone listening to DT over Bobby needs to reevaluate that part of their lives.
