Just looking at this top 25, there really aren't that many somebodies you can play.

The checked teams would be credible wins, but the unchecked teams could drop out of or to the bottom of the top 25 if they lose one game. It's a strange year. Only a few teams, including us, have been consistently good. I include Ole Miss because I think a win over them means more than their ranking indicates.

Why does ole miss mean more than their ranking? Because they beat furman, mid tenn st, wake, GA southern, and SC? Because they played an overrated LSU team close?

I think they’d probably use F-18 Super Hornets these days. Maverick and Goose ain’t walking through that door

Fine, use the B model F-35. Don't care what they use, change the damn rules. Fly over it with some Corsairs. Still more firepower than the ACC.

I’ll tell you what, Diego Pavia can play quarterback.  The Vandy defense won’t stand up vs the Texasrunning game, much less Sark’s schemes and wizardry but Vandy is a better team, and a better coached team right now than several SEC teams and AP top 25 teams.  I’ll be glad to eat this post after the Horns win in Nashville by 24 or more.  First, neuter them Dawgs and their coach poaching coach.  These are some Vegas line beating Horns!  My guys are 85% out of it but have a prayer if there’s a rspid and major turnaround.

Winsipedia tracks this as a relevant stat and will also show the dates in history in which the ranking occurred, for those interested in looking more closely.

We have a lot of people who are going to get really scared about this game. Gonna need a mud hole post (and yeah- I know Georgia is too good for a traditionally mud hole post but we got one for Bama last year).

It’s not the most important statistic but weeks at number 1 in the AP is kind of a thing I’m glad to be racking up a few weeks this season. If I recall VY 05 was always 2nd?

I thought we broke through to #1 one week, then went back. Am I making shit up?

This will be our third week out of four at 1 this year.

One is coming. I thought about OU, but just couldn’t muster the personal concern. One is coming for this week, though. I’ve outlined the whines and rebuttals in my head already.

Remove the check. It's no matter to me. They just seem more formidable than the dog shit around them in the polls. Mebbe I'm wrong.

As I recall, that season USC and Texas went 1 and 2 wire to wire.  So the first, last, and only time Texas was #1, was in the final poll.

Yes. According to the AP. But, one week we jumped them in the BCS, and the media acted like we’d forced them to watch their daughter star in a snuff film.

Well remember, that 2005 USC team was considered one of the most formidable fighting forces in history, so of course they would be ranked #1 until VY brought the thunder.

I still think they were the better team

I'd love to see him try to defend this. Or maybe he's just trying to give Finebaum an aneurysm

Or he’s trying to generate outrage and clicks. Wannabe contrarian dipshit. I love the look on Sarkisian’s face when this clown asks a question.

Fortunately for him, there are people even stupider, who apparently believe that hiring him to write stupid shit is a good way to keep newspapers relevant.

Penn St. are four spots from not playing a ranked team.  Agree though that after Saturday it will be a bit different.  Our schedule will then be on par with OSU’s, at that point in time.  Oregon beat Boise State, so I guess that makes their schedule better.

Penn St always fucking loses to Ohio State and at least another 2-3 losses. They're a fraud

I get the votes for Penn State ahead of Ohio State but no one putting Penn State ahead is going to bet on Penn State to beat Ohio State

See above.

Not even remotely concerned about Georgia. Just like Michigan. We're curb stomping them.

usually I am, "welp, this will probably be the week" but....we finally have a D we can trust, fully.  If you have played 6 D1 opponents and are holding teams under 7 points with probably an average of 3 points a game of those 7 in garbage time you are fucking good.  I don't care who the opponents are.  If they are D1 that is all I need to know.

Imma hang my hat on that, which IMO has always been the way to a championship.

I'm actually kinda shocked he has Texas #1 TBH.

Auburn @ Missouri (-4.5)
Oklahoma @ South Carolina (+3)
Alabama @ Tennessee (+2.5)
Texas A&M @ Mississippi State (+15)
LSU @ Arkansas (+3)
Georgia @ Texas (-3.5)
Kentucky @ Florida (+1)

Unpossible. Military schools were not competitive in that era because they were busy fighting wars and were male-only. It is known.

We're coming for you 1963 9 weeks!

I'm assuming even with the extended playoffs we still will only have 16 weeks of polls with the one coming out post CCG weekend and the final one coming out post CFP conclusion.

That means we could max out at 12 this year as long as we continue to win since we missed weeks (1-3, & 6) so far.
