I honestly think this is dumb. Continue naming our war toys after warmongers and leave the peaceniks out of it

Don't disagree. My dad told me the story of the USS City of Corpus Christi, the only ship with "City of" in the name, because the Catholic Church didn't want a warship named the "Body of Christ."

I remember knowing when hurricane season started when HEB started using these paper sacks (although this is an image from one in Florida)

as a kid, i would literally track a hurricane on that map on the sack.

President Trump took yet another step Tuesday to place NPR and PBS at the center of his broader clash with major cultural institutions, formally asking Congress to take back the $1.1 billion it has set aside for all public broadcasters for the next two years.

A simple majority of lawmakers in each chamber must approve what's technically known as a "rescission request" within 45 days for it to become law. With their slim leads in both the House and Senate, Republicans can afford just a few defections.

Look at that libtard communist with his "science" and "education." You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Setting aside all the bad shit this bill will do to the poor and middle class, has anyone seen any attempt by the Rs to justify the tax cuts for the rich or explain why it's necessary right now? From what I've seen they don't even bother to explain or justify that. Has any journalist pressed any of these fuckers why that's a priority? It's surreal to me that they get away with not even having to convince anyone that their evil plans are good. Our entire system is broken.

Because Americans overwhelmingly voted for this last election.

Where the grifters start to step on each other's toes in an attempt to grift even more.   And there's no doubt at all that Trump even has a clue about what is going on.

They've bought or threatened journalists.  Anybody that practices real journalism isn't going to be allowed anywhere close to an elected official to ask tough questions.

Don’t school teachers pay into the TRF and don’t pay social security and are the red fire ineligible for benefits?

i have no idea about any of this. she’s worked at a private/parochial school for 45 years and has been paying social security the entire time.

i once ruptured my ear drum and didn’t go to the doctor because i didn’t have insurance. i only went about a week later, after i started bleeding out of my ear. i’m now unable to hear people sitting 15 feet to the left of me in my own living room.

i really can’t wait to lose my insurance and live like that again. that’s definitely what’s best for everyone. just a bunch of sick, uneducated people who can’t afford to feed and clothe themselves, or to get medical help when they need it. just a dynamite way to make america treat again. 👌🏼

Ok. I assumed public school.

Most districts opted out of social security a long time ago when they had the chance. Some districts, including Austin ISD, did not opt out and they do pay into SS and receive benefits.

So confused, doge’s whole point was to reduce spending right?  Then his new bill will increase spending and add trillions in debt.  So am I missing something or does this just not make logical sense?

It’s almost like that wasn’t the actual goal all along.

If there is a stated goal of the GQP that would even tangentially help Americans….that goal is a lie.
If the goal is to hurt people, they’re telling. The truth.
Those are the two rules of interpreting GQP positions/platforms.
If it would help, they’re lying. If it would hurt, they’re telling the truth.
Oh, and the true motive is always some combo of cruelty, grift, and gifts/fealty to billionaires.

DOGE was supposed to find a few trillion in waste, which would be offset with whatever was in this bill.

That didn't happen, obviously.

Of course, the real reason for DOGE, from Elon's perspective, was data mining to the nth degree.  And reward himself with lucrative government contracts.

Big Beautiful Bill doesn't add any debt, it actually decreases the debt
