speaking of things going up like crazy, Helobious, you thought of upping your game as it looks like the ole handjob is not quite cutting it. Try a Split Roast since we are now dealing with a player and agent!

When you say ups and downs do you mean not win a national championship because the last 3 yrs we’ve been really good besides what you read on this board. We have another stud at qb behind the stud playing now. Every year is the year now in ncaa football.

In context with a functional RT we possibly win a national championship, with a better rb room after brooks gets hurt we possibly win a national championship so yeah I’d say losing to Florida and not making the playoff when they selected 12 teams is silly when you have Texas’s resources at your disposal. I’m a Debbie downer tho so take that for what it’s worth lol.

In a 12 or 16 team playoff the bare minimum expectations should be playoffs.

Who needs Isaac Brown? This guy was electric for the Lobos. Crisp snaps and recorded 2 tackles on special teams. Downfield coverage is elite. Can't wait to see him operating on punts next year.

There are like 15 QBs at most in CFB who are good enough to win a championship. Because of the limited supply and high demand, QBs are going to cost way more than other positions.

Despair and despondency. We are going to get a kicker, punter and long snapper and close up shop.

Tech is going to do to the portal what Texas A&M did to the coaching market. Wildly throw dollars in, setting absurd precedents, hoping it will eventually buy them what they’ve never been able to achieve on their own.

They can’t act like they’ve been there before because they haven’t.

I really feel like all of the program dysfunction has been fixed. Flood seems like a new man, Banks seems to really be closing on coveted, top-line talent and Brandon Harris is already showing out with his portal performance.

We’re winning the whole fucking thing in 2026, guys!!?!

I’m a little sympathetic, but the guy needs to open his eyes on Livingstone. Livingstone is a liar and a fraud who made his choice and laid the blame at Texas’ feet. He could still be in Austin, but chose Norman, which proves he’s a liar.

The Stampede: Predicting Texas' five next transfer portal commits

The Stampede: Predicting Texas' five next transfer portal commits

  •  Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247 Staff)

The Texas Longhorns have landed four transfer portal commitments at this stage with three pledges coming from specialists and one coming from an interior defensive lineman.

While burnt orange fans should be happy to see the additions since it means true freshman specialists won't be trusted (which is always a good thing), it is understanding that frustration has built up from Texas' lack of portal activity.

However, we're still quite early into this year's portal cycle and the lack of commitments is set to change soon after the Longhorns hosted several portal visitors over the weekend.

That said, Horns247 decided to predict Texas' five next transfer portal commits for this week's edition of The Stampede.

    (Players listed in positional order)

  • Michigan State TE Michael Masunas

After redshirting and not playing a snap as a true freshman in 2022, Masunas proceeded to play in 25 games with 12 starts over the next three seasons before entering the transfer portal ahead of his fifth and final season of eligibility. More of an in-line blocker than a receiving threat, Masunas has 24 receptions for 270 yards and three touchdowns, but all but five catches and 38 yards came from the 2025 season when Masunas saw his largest snap count of his four year career. Masunas would fit a similar need to what Horns247 profiled on Hayden Hansen earlier in the portal cycle as a true blocker that can help improve Texas' abilities to run 12 personnel successfully. With Jack Endries off to the NFL the Longhorns will probably need to hit the portal for two tight ends, but for now, Masunas is the main name to know at tight end.

  • Michigan OT Andrew Sprague

After redshirting as a true freshman, Sprague made 12 starts at right tackle for the Wolverines in 2025 en route to being named an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection. Sprague graded out at a 69.3 for the course of the season on Pro Football Focus, with 740 snaps. He also notched a 71.6 in pass pro and 65.3 in run blocking. The 6-foot-8, 315 pounder is one of the more promising young offensive tackles in the portal and if he ends up at Texas I'd imagine he'd fill in at right tackle and Brandon Baker would be moved to guard. Sprague did not play in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl so the Longhorns didn't get to play against him, but they're still well aware from hosting Sprague for a visit over the weekend. Sprague entered the portal with a do not contact tag and the Longhorns were mentioned immediately out of the gate alongside Mizzou, who now has Michigan's former OC on staff in Columbia.

  • Michigan IOL Jake Guarnera

The Michigan sophomore guard transfer earned Big Ten honorable mention honors from the league coaches and media in his first year as a starter in 2025 and would bring immediate plug and play starting ability for the Longhorns who desperately need help on the interior o-line and specifically guard. Guarnera can also play center and has two seasons of eligibility left heading into the 2026 season. All of Guarnera's 11 career starts came in the 2025 season, with 10 of those at right guard. Guarnera moved from right guard to center to take over for injured starter Greg Crippen against Texas in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. The Florida native has a lot of traits Texas looks for out of high school as a former basketball player and shot and disc thrower, and the versatility factor as a guard/center would be a welcomed addition. Guarnera entered the portal with a do not contact tag and should make it to Austin soon for a visit if he hasn't already.

  • Florida EDGE Jayden Woods

The Florida transfer is one of the more talented young players in college football and he should also make an immediate impact if he ends up with the Longhorns. Woods tallied 28 total tackles, five tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception in his lone season in Gainesville where he made three starts and played in all 12 of Florida's games as a true freshman in 2025. Woods was named to the SEC's All-Freshman team for his efforts in his rookie campaign. Per PFF, Woods generated 17 pressures and 18 STOPS (tackles that constitute a failed play for the offense) over 448 snaps this season. PFF also tabbed Woods as having the highest pass rushing grade amongst freshman defensive linemen (DL/EDGE) in the SEC with 150 or more snaps on the year. The Longhorns are battling Mizzou, Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas A&M and a return to Florida is possible as well, but as of now Texas is the only school that's hosted Woods for a visit as a portal prospect.

  • UTSA DL/EDGE Kenny Ozowalu

A similar story to Trey Moore, Ozowalu is a San Antonio native (SA Reagan alum) that walked-on at UTSA over several FCS and NAIA offers. He redshirted as a true freshman before breaking out as a redshirt freshman in 2025 and starting 10 of UTSA's 12 regular season games, finishing the year with 17 tackles, three sacks, and one PBU. PFF also credited Ozowalu with 22 pressures, 16 hurries, and four QB hits. With those numbers, Ozowalu finished first in pressures and second in hurries amongst the Roadrunners' defense. Ozowalu also finished the 2025 season with the second-most snaps on the Roadrunners' defensive line. The San Antonio native took a visit to Oklahoma the day or two before he made a stop at Texas, and it's the Sooners who Horns247 views as the Longhorns' main competition.

If 99.9% of the football players aren't doing to take his offer, it sounds like this fucking guy isn't going to be out all that much money after all...so I guess he's just a bitch.

I'm guessing the real problem is he named his newborn Parker.

Hmmm, then maybe they should negotiate lower initial prices if they cant guarantee that a player will be there for several years. If that means the player doesnt sign with your memorabilia agency then let the other agencies get burned and you will come out smelling like roses. Just need to shift your model.

I've met this dude. He's a vulture.

I do think there's real NIL money in locking down announce rights on platforms and that could be the next play for 9.95 type stuff. Like if I signed an exclusive for all Texas targets to announce on Surlyhorns even if they aren't coming to Texas. It would drive a ton of traffic and be worth the mention on the "per @surlyhorns" byline.

Just watched the video of the one-eyed RB from Connecticut. If we sign him, does he get to bring the piano he seems to be carrying on his back when he runs?

Funny that the two guys, Tre & Parker, that LOVED Texas were both offered hundreds of thousands of dollars to stay at Texas, and chose not to, and then turned around and played the victim. If you want to call Texas a mercenary school, you may want to look at those individuals who you say supposedly love Texas.

I'm less concerned at WR because of the young guys that are probably pretty good that just weren't in sarks weird "trust circle" and a new WR coach will probably be good.

RB are a disaster right now and the fact that Texas didn't close someone weekend one is really giving me the heebie jeebies.

OL I think can take a bit to assess.

DT was a great pickup and looks like there's possibility for another. EDGE looking good too.

Defense in general should be fine, Muschamp and Gideon know how to recruit and develop.

We aren’t getting a new WR coach. Jackson just signed a two year extension.

I’m curious how we stack up on player identification and the GM spot in general. Seems like in this new era, exuberant donors, elite GM skills and the HC/assistants are needed. We don’t seem to have the “fuck it pay whatever it costs” idiotic money and I have no idea about the GM/player identification side but while the money rules may create a level playing field among the haves, the organization can still be behind. I wonder where Texas, Georgia, tOSU, shit… Indiana (did I really just say Indiana?), and others stack up as organizations apart from simply the HC/assistants?
