Mateer was making the same YOLO throws I saw him make when I watched them play Michigan and Auburn.  I don't think it was the thumb....it's who he is.  Our defense is just better than those other two teams and contained his running and picked those stupid ass decisions he makes.

This...Never understood the hype for Mateer in the sense he was never Heisman material or even a game changer for OU.   His work last year at Washington State was nothing to really to write home about which included loses to New Mexico and Wyoming and going to OT against San Jose on top of a couple of more losses and close games to really no bodies.    The argument from the media and OU fans was he'd flourish with a SEC quality team around him.  But when he played against Auburn and Michigan  what you noted about his throws was no different from what we saw Saturday.  Unless the pain affected his ability to run and he was guarded for wanting to avoid taking a nasty hit directly on the thumb area or landing on it, it was very much our defense that contained him which Michigan and Auburn had less success doing.

What about their OL, WRs and RBs scream SEC-quality?

This. He did make a couple throws during the game that showed the thumb wasn’t a big issue at all. Some posters on this board noted that  when Mateer was at Washington st, he struggled against good defenses. That’s basically what we saw yesterday.

Add to that PK is a really good game planner.  The son of a bitch looks to take away your best options and says go ahead and beat me.  Most of the time it works.

The discipline our Edge rushers had in containing Mateer led to big dividends.  Mateer does not want to stay in the pocket and he shit down his leg.  I bet we will do something similar with Reed.  You have to get him moving in the pocket though because he loses his feet.

This is such a depressing vision of the future. Not a single team in that bunch that I would be rooting for even a little to win.

Yeah that's pretty grim.  But think how funny it would be for Tech to come back into aggys' lives and beat them in the playoffs during their best season in forever like olden times. 😆

Idk how you wouldn’t be pulling hard for Indiana in this scenario. Also lol at bama beating OSU

What a clown.  Neither the B1G nor secsecsec look like they deserve 4 teams.  I think the ACC and XII will combine for 3 if not 4.

tOSU, Indiana, Oregon, and SC if they do what they’re supposed to and finish 10-2. SEC will easily get 4. Big XII only getting their champion in unless Tech keeps winning and gets upset in CCG. Same thing with Miami.

Basically, Kind of like they had to put SMU in after being "upset" by Clemson last year.

And a 3 loss SEC team will be the one left out most likely...probably Texas with that Florida loss holding us down like an anchor(akin to Bama's loss to OU last year).  Of course If our other losses are to top 5 OSU and Georgia(assuming) with wins over OU/Vandy/Aggie, that might be decent enough.

We've both scored the third fewest and allowed the third fewest among ranked teams.

Our point differential is better than aggy, ole miss  and georgia.

Not sure what to make of that, if anything.

Dropped one spot.  I’d like to think our defense could beat 11 down with below average offense even but not like yesterday’s.

A few undefeated teams are a bit higher than likely to finish but that’s the nature of mid-season.

- GT is good but has played an abysmal schedule. They have a weak back half, too. They’ve been playing on the edge but it’s possible they will be undefeated when Georgia comes to town, and likely get rolled. ACC champ game will be tough for them, too. They are maybe a top 15 level team.

- BYU will likely fall to at least Tech or Cincy. Big XII is a knife fight.

- I think A&M is a top ten team, not a top 5 team.  I do think we will get one of LSU, Mizzou, and Texas and maybe can get a favorable draw in the CFP. LSU may be the best bet as we have done much better against non-mobile QBs and Vandy showed what a mobile QB and short passing game can do.

- ND is a top ten team but will they get credit with the rest of their schedule? They are playing as good as anyone aside from Ohio, Indiana, and Bama. Also, why does anyone want CFB without SC-ND every year? Get it done, Trojans!

- Vandy-Mizzou will be a great game for keeping CFP hopes alive.  How crazy is that!

Poster in the other thread shared a graphic like 22 % of Vandy's roster is Grad seniors. Haynes King at GT seems like hes on his 8th year of cfb. The schools you listed all have great academic reputations and seem to have leveraged that to load up on experienced 23 year olds

Get out of my head!

We took the dwags to eight OT’s last year and rivalry games are weird, so I don’t think we get totally embarrassed. At least I hope not. The game is in the Benz which pretty much makes it a home game for them.

I wasn’t able to watch the game this week so I only followed the thread. Last night, I watched the ESPN key plays recap on YouTube and I gotta say we looked really good. It makes me think most poll voters only watch the game recaps and rank teams based on the 10-15 minute video.
