Seriously, what is Florida doing with Napier?  Everyone knows they're going to fire him, so just do it and start your search.  I can't imagine it's helping recruiting.

Waiting for the bye week.

Holy shit.  Never would have thought that the Indiana football coach would be relevant salary-wise.  Times have changed.

$11.6 M per year probably goes a long way in Bloomington, Indiana. He should be sending James Franklin an amazing ‘thank you for sucking’ present.

They will always be a stepping stone. For good coaches at least. They need to find an alumni coach that thinks it’s a dream job.

I didn't see him leaving IU. As Nicole had said, I think Nicole said, that he has a ton of money now from Mark Cuban. I was just told that Cuban will be paying for all of this.

It was kind of funny back when Curt was at Elon my German cousin's boy was giving me a tour of the facilities and we were in the football area and walking through the hall. As we rounded a corner we almost ran right into Curt. He stopped, looked at me and said, "what are you doing here?" to which I explained "I'm getting a tour of the facilities from Pete, he plays soccer here.". I responded, "what are you doing here?" to which he said, "I'm the head football coach.". And we had a nice chat.

I'm happy for him. He's a good dude.

Good move. He's old enough that he can retire an IU legend in a few years even if they fall off a bit which I don't see happening anyway.

Even if he hangs on for dear life like Mack Brown from 2010-2013, he will still be an IU legend.

Why would you enter the HC market competing against Penn State, and potentially Florida, Auburn, North Carolina, Florida State and/or Wisconsin? And who are you wanting to hire? I don't see a single sure-fire HC hire, outside of Cignetti, whose already in his mid-60s.

Also, UM will take a big PR hit firing a black head coach after only two years. I definitely don't see Michigan making a move this year, and think he'd have to have a pretty disastrous 2026 to get fired next year. Shit's gotta be Charlie Strong level-bad to get fired after three years.

That being said, most HCs are hired because the last guy sucked ass, so there's an understanding that it takes time to build a program. That's not the case with Moore, so they may have a little more flexibility to dump him after year three if they continue to regress.

It’s 2025 America man that woke shit is dead.

I think Mark Cuban has weighed in:

Indiana University has given head football coach Curt Cignetti a new eight-year, $92.8 million contract that averages $11.6 million per year. This extension was announced on October 16, 2025, and runs through November 30, 2033

Penn State is paying $700K for a freshman hockey player.

Yes, but he’s going to be the first pick in the next NHL draft.

That rubicon was already crossed when Darrell Royal's OC, one Emory Dilworth Bellard, the Inventor of the Wishbone offense, left Texas to become head coach of aggy.

But that Ignorant Wretch must not know who Emory Bellard is.

Which means Penn State's hockey program has more NIL money than North Dakota or BC or Denver or BU.  Michigan State supposedly had the 2nd-highest bid, $400K.

Don't think for even a second that, should Elko go to PSU and at some point win an NC aggie won't claim some tie. Something about helping him become a great coach and rise or some such bullshit. Mark it.

I don't think Elko gets the call from PSU, but god I hope he does...

You’re really surprised Pedo has more money than North Dakota or Denver? Yes they have better hockey programs but I don’t think that’s a money thing. Pedos total NIL is probably more than all the programs you listed together and can move money around to fit when generational talents consider your school.

Guess he'll be getting M Cuban to pony up that extra 20 mm for the roster he needs to be  a champion.

It does but the thing is that Bloomington is a Rockwell painting. Fantastic town and place to live.

The very few articles I've seen don't include Elko on their lists of top candidates for any job. Are we the only ones talking about this or am I simply in the dark.

I honestly don't know.

It’s stupid.  Eight year deal in the maelstrom of CFB is nuts.  For any program.  They will be staring at a huge buyout in a few years when he stumbles inevitably.  With NIL and portal these long term deals are anachronisms.  Pay him more money, fewer years.

How else is a school like Indiana going to lock in the best coach they've ever had, leading their team to the best seasons they've ever had? You gotta go big or you're gonna lose the guy to a rival school, and then he'll beat the shit out of you for years. They've literally never been this good (for as long as any college football fan has been alive). Seems like he would have to go 1-11 every year for like three years straight for them regret it, and they still might not.

Besides, it's not Indiana that has to make these decisions. It's Mark Cuban.

He's 64 years old already. He is 17-2 at INDIANA (who has a historical winning percentage of .421) with a CFP appearance and on the verge of a second.  I don't think there's an "inevitable stumble" that is going to get him shitcanned, when he could and likely would just retire.

This guy was on the NCST staff and he coached Phillip Rivers and recruited Russell Wilson, and then went off to the Nick Saban coaching factory for 4 seasons, including recruiting Julio Jones, D'Onta Hightower and Mark Ingram.  And for some reason, he was never talked about as a HC candidate.  Dude bet on himself and took a lower level job (IUP) so he could be a head coach instead of waiting for some P4 program to finally take a chance on him.  All he's done since then:

53-17 at IUP
14-9 at Elon
52-9 at JMU
17-2 at Indiana

Seems primed for a good run of 9/10+ win seasons until he's ready to hang it up.  Even if he sprinkles in a 7-6/8-4 season or two or three, that is still wildly above Indiana's historical norm.
