Well they asked him politely if he would voluntarily leave all those millions of dollars alone, and I guess his answer must have displeased them

Sumrall is a god-awful hire for Florida. Literally Billy Napier 2.0. Runs the exact same offense, was a one-score wizard at a Louisiana G5 school. All of it.

Thank god!

Will Stein front runner at Kentucky apparently

He will either be the surprise winner as best hire of the entire carouse in the long run, or be run out of town in less than two full seasons due to lack of experience.  I don't expect much in between.

Speaking of which, what's the latest on Collin Klein's head coaching prospects?

I remember hearing early on that he was a candidate at Ok St, but obviously that didn’t pan out. Considering his record against Texas as an OC, I hope he stays in College Station for many years

I'm also for giving Marcel Reed as much college eligibility as he wants.

Best possible hire for them in opinion. Granted it’s high risk because he’s so young, but the guy can call an offense.

Either him or Hartline

Is Penn State trying to find the next child molestation enabler or what? What is their hold up? Franklin was fired October 12th.

Two camps seem to be that it’s either Chesney or Hartline and they are waiting until after the championship games to announce, or Kraft is fucking up and no one wants the job while Franklin steals all the recruits.

Arky fans think they're a top job but don't realize they're a bottom tier job at this point.  They used to be good until they stopped taking football seriously with the Pittman hire.  Meanwhile, the whole landscape changed.

They were are the bottom this year with Oklahoma State.  I thought OSU was a worse job but they got a better coach so maybe not.  Looking at Arkansas' schedule next season, 4-8 looks likely and these same fans will just bitch.

With nil and the portal any program can turn right around.  Silverfield and the UM GM have been really good at managing the portal and their retention element.  The GM is expected to move to Fayettenam as well.  He was able to pull 29 wins in three years solidifying winning teams out of all new players is what’s needed at all but the biggest programs.

the schools that go after old school coaches that think players are there for four years and can’t figure out the portal are going to crash into a brick wall.  It’s way more about coaching than scheme.

As a new Ark fan this year with a kid now going there, I am amazed at how many of their fans just expect the glory days to come roaring back.  So many of them were begging the school to keep Petrino, whose overall record is spotty at best (and didn't win ONE SINGLE GAME after taking over as interim HC).

I think Silverfield is a decent hire - as mentioned above, he seems to have a strong football mind and understand the new NIL/portal environment.  But the SEC is consistently a meat grinder, so if he can't recruit quickly (and get the Waltons/Tysons/Hunts of NWA to pony up even more for NIL), don't expect much to change.

Ark is in good shape in most other sports, and the AD Yurachek has been really vocal about needing to fix funding for football now, so we'll see.

This likely means PSU is now about to go official with theirs. Chesney was 2nd in odds to get the PSU job the last 24 hours or so

Great hire (I hope).  Exactly the type of hire we needed to make.

Wait so it's Klein's fault, not Elko's...while it's the other HC's fault?  Interesting.

I mean their Offense wasn't good, but they depend on a mid QB too much.  However Elko is a defensive coach and we had our best rushing day against them.

I guess as part of the terms of the deal to avoid the chaos around leaving on short notice.

Seems like a significant error to miss out on the early signing period this week, and why everyone else is falling into place before the 3rd.

Not for nothing, but Chesney just kind of looks the part of Hollywood.  Fits right in for LA

You can announce the coach and let them coach out the next game.

All of this is accurate.  The Arkies just think they should be great at football despite never being great at football.  For some reason, the fans liked Golesh because he was good one year at TN.  The Memphis guy has been at Memphis 6 years and went 29-9 the last three years.  For some reason, they don't like that.

Petrino actually did pretty well with what he had.  All the games were close and the offense was really good.  Their defense was next level bad talent wise and there isn't much you can do to fix that.

Texas and OU going to the SEC didn't do them any favors.  Both are significantly better and multiple tiers more committed to football.

To your point, they are legitimately good/great in every other sport but their fans are obsessed with being a football school.

Petrino seems like the best candidate for the job at the present moment unless they can convince Traylor or one of the high end coordinators to take the gig. I would like to see Traylor get a shot in the big leagues.

So is Penn st getting that fat sooner douche from Tenn?

Why would they hire an air raid guy?  Their identity forever has been running the ball.  That feels like when Meatchicken hired Rich Rod.

UNT and Tulane are doing this but I'd imagine Morris and Sumrall are giant cocksuckers.

As is Bob Chesney.

Didn't Sark do the same? Announced at Texas at the end of the regular season but stayed at Bama to coach the SECCG and playoffs?

Pretty sure it's the standard, at least as far as conference title games go. Bowls have been mixed.
