Kentucky gets up for one game a year (last year was UGA at home). I don’t think this is going to be easy.

I think it’s more likely they get up for Tennessee the next game. That is one of their permanent rivals

Out of curiosity bc I’m not good at math: in the Sark era what is the percentage of time our opponents score first vs us scoring first? And of the times our opponents score first, what percentage of those games do we win? Just curious. I suck at math. Didn’t know if those who don’t suck at math know the answer and can math smith it up for an answer. You don’t want that answer from me. It would take me a week. And be wrong. 😑

In football and basketball the game UK fans care most about is Louisville though some won't admit that. UK has a solid running back and decent offensive line but no passing attack at all so put everyone on the line of scrimmage and make Kentucky try to complete a pass. The two decent wide receivers UK had last year transferred.

Not sure about scoring first.  But I did read recently that we have not taken opening drive for TD in Sark era maybe 1 or 2 times total in what 55 games or so.

Sark's script, from which he will not deviate, isn't designed to score.  He's an offensive mastermind and a brilliant play-caller, so he could totally dial up an opening score if he wanted to.

Ketucky has played 3 P4 games, all in conference. All 3 of those teams reached at least 30 points, while Ketucky has score 50 total points in those games. I expect us to struggle early on offense as the OL gels after a few series and then for us to run away. However, if we have to sit Wisner again then I don't know shit about fuck for this game.

Texas must anticipate this to be Florida-like even if it is not and look at the Ole Miss game for guidance on how not to start slow and allow them to stay in the game.  Our last non-rivalry regular season night game was Iowa State in 2023. We won by 10 and this feels comparable. Expect fuckery and for Kentucky to punch above their weight.

Any word on Calzada’s status?

Do not take any of these “little” schools for granted…..they hate Texas and will throw their kitchen sink at us…stay focused…..gonna be a long 2 months.  One game at a time.

Nah, that's what's different about the SEC.  Little schools like Baylor, TCU, UH, etc hated Texas.  These little schools hate the Alabamas, Georgias, etc of their world.  They may grow to hate us but it ain't there yet.

We shouldn't take the game for granted because while college football isn't quite the NFL and "Any Given Sunday" things are trending that way...

I've seen Florida refered to a trap game. That's dumb.

This is a trap game. Road night game against a bad opponent coming off the emotional high point of the season. Struggle to see Texas losing outright without just becoming a turnover machine but how they perform tells you whether this is still ultimately a slog to 7-5 or if they're actually starting to figure things out.

For the first time this year, we witnessed a successful identity on offense, one that is clearly starting to build.

Furthermore, it’s an identity that can be replicated and even improved upon.

Now, one game does not a season make.

But…

If Texas can lean into that identity again and again this season, there’s a path to being a good offensive football team.

And what’s even wilder is this:

There’s still a ton of meat left on the bone for where this Texas offense could wind up if they keep improving.

Think about it.

- Arch Manning keeps improving. I don’t know how he plays a cleaner game than he did against OU. But I think there will eventually be bigger pass plays to make within the confines of the offense.

- The OL gels with Nick Brooks. Brooks was not perfect in pass protection, but he swallowed some ppl in the run game.

- CJ Baxter returns giving Texas a power running option. Hopefully he returns as soon as this week.

- Texas establishes Emmitt Mosley V more. He gives Arch another reliable option at all three levels.

- Tre Wisner stays healthy.

- Steve Sarkisian understands his QB’s and OL’s strengths more and more each week.

All of that happens, and all of a sudden, the offense looks a lot more potent.

That type of offense, along with a defense that remains rock solid, is the path to being an elite team for the Longhorns.

It’s a clear path. Now they just need to go make it happen week-by-week.

Texas 23 - OU 6

Cutter Boley has a cannon though.

Everyone talking about how good the big10 is, how is there zero watchable games next week in that shit conference?

That's the way the want it to be so that their pre-determined-media-darling teams can have a cakewalk of tomato-cans/doormats to the CFP.

100-0 would put more pressure on UK's administration to get rid of Stoops which is all I care about at this point. The few UK fans that go watch that trainwreck will be senior citizens that are let out of the nursing home for the day. UK's Big Blue midnight madness was this weekend and that's when everyone stops paying attention to UK's shitty football team. Should be a good trip for visitors since it's an easy win, a quiet crowd and a beautiful area (biased because I grew up in Lexington). The UK fans that went to Austin last year were treated well and I think and hope Texas fans will be treated nicely.

Got any pics of the ladies?

These next three weeks are huge. I don't believe we are close to where we need to be yet, this team still has to go out and decide who they are. With a full octane effort we can smother UK and MSU, and should have the horses to outlast Vanderbilt. That gets us into the bye week with everything on the table for us going into Georgia. If we fool ourselves into thinking we can just show up to a single one of these games and win on the road, we will see another Florida.

Haven’t double checked but our game probably has the largest point spread in the SEC this week. Team needs to maintain focusness and take care of its business.

Opened at -13.5, and has dropped to 11.5 - 12.5.

Seeing -12.5

Vanderbilt -2.5 over LSU
OU -5.5 over SC
Georgia -7.5 over Ole Miss
aggy -7.5 over piggy
Florida -9.5 over MSST
Bama -8.5 over Tenn
Missouri -1.5 over Auburn

Thank God this game is at Kentucky, so I don't have to hear about how UK football has never played a game this far west before and something about tectonic plates moving a few centimeters per year.

Wisener went for 160 last year.  They lost their stud DT and a couple game changing WR transferred.

This does feel like a road game at Ok st or Tech back in the day, one where we are on the verge of winning big but we let them hang around too long and we’re in a dog fight.  Curious to see how this one goes , as we’re  the new kid and those old b12 games we were always someone’s Super Bowl

Some of you people are such a fucking beating. For those who may not remember, the 2010 Texas football team went 5-7, with five of those losses at home. They were:

UCLA 12-34

Iowa State 21-28

Baylor 22-30

Oklahoma State 16-33

Texas 8&4 17-24

Do you think this team, already with four wins, is going to lose five of its next six games? Do you see Past-his-prime Brown on the sidelines? Do you think Manning is Garrett Gilbert? If so, fuck off and don't come back. Seriously, go away.

You are correct. Sark is ascending in his career and has things better mapped for success in the program. Gilbert had to do it all by himself throwing 50 times a game. That's all Mack and GDGD had.

Nevertheless, Wisner/wrs and other players along the oline need to continue to step up. That's the difference between this year and that year. At least offensively.  our o-line ceiling is higher and we have more weapons.

Hopefully Simon can emerge a bit more, it seems he will. Wingo, Moore and others can make those plays we will need. I wouldn't mind a similar formula every week of Wisner being awesome and Arch sprinkling timely throws and plays with his legs. I just can't expect it to be week in and week kind of out thing.

But if Wisner gets stuck in neutral and it's up to Arch then I can see that comparison. Granted I can see arch willing us to victory down the line in the season. The further away we get from a one man Gilbert 2010 the better off we are. We get further away be getting better and having more players step up.

I expect that to happen.

True.  Lil' Stoops may bring some hate into the festivities with the team though and they are a wounded dog.

we should still win this by double digits comfortably.

Well. Someone has drunk so much that he forgot the Charlie Strong era and it shows.
