The implicit statement here is that Russian troops shouldn’t be expected to be effective against Western (or Western-trained) forces and that’s a big fucking admission. Also an example of how propaganda folds in on itself.

So they're Aggy.  All you hadta say.

Georgian Legion talking shit.

Kupyansk is already surrounded and may have already been retaken by Ukraine.

Russia is in full retreat.

I don't think retreat is correct.  Retreat implies organized activity and intentional military movement. I think they are standing there wondering what to do and waiting to die, surrender or just wait some more.

We know their junior officers and NCOs are not trained to take the initiative like Western junior officers and NCOs. There were plenty of examples early in the war where smaller units, when faced with problems, basically froze in position while they waited for word from higher up. Western junior officers and NCOs, when faced with problems, will either go on the attack right then and there, or go around and attack from another angle, rather than wait for word to travel up and down the chain of command (which is especially burdensome in Russia).

This is not an efficient way to move troops for Russia, given the distances and the amount of anti-air that the Ukrainians are deploying.

Russia doesn't need more troops in the area right now.  They need good command and control to move, reposition and mobilize the troops they currently have.  They need to have good communication lines, supply lines and competent leadership.  The first two have been cut by the Ukrainians and the last seems to have been absent for a while.   Dropping more troops into Izyum is just like repositioning thousands of your best troops to the West of the river in Kherson so they can be cut off and trapped.  It's like delivering more future KIA's and POW's to Ukraine.

Russia gonna Russia.

Right!? Ukraine is pushing their shit in with a smaller force and using weapons that were high tech pre Iraq 2.   There were people at the beginning of this thread fawning over Russia's hypersonic missiles and how we have no match for their technology.   It don't matter a shit when your infantry is eating 30 year old MRE's and your tanks look like a jack in the box when hit properly.  Our most modern tech would wipe any army off them map in rapid fashion.

It's kinda like the old Charlie Sheen saying about hookers, you're not paying them for the sex, you're paying them to leave.  Well, our military tech and success is made to eliminate, not to stick around and monitor (even though we actually do a great job at that, we just don't have the social wherewithal anymore to crush pocket rebellions with impunity)

The thing that strikes me about this, is all I see are two helos with the blades whirring away.  No one is getting in, or out, and nothing seems to be going on for miles around.  Who knows what's behind the camera.  But this sure looks like it could be somewhere on the endless Russian steppe with those Mi-26s safe and sound.

I’ve expressed my thoughts on how I don’t think the AFU should let the Russians “surrender”.
But if POWs are to be taken, then exchange them 1:10 for every Ukrainian that was forcibly exiled to Russia in the past 7 months.

You have to document them with every humanitarian agency and let them talk to their families and then try the officers at the Hague. Otherwise RU will ship them all to Siberia so they can’t tell anyone what really happened nor lead any uprising.

Because it's a propaganda video:

How would you like to see the Security Council reformed? I don't see any of China, US, France, UK giving up their veto power. A significant part of the point of those 5 countries having veto power is their nuclear arsenal, which you're well aware of. Do you feel like having a massive nuclear arsenal doesn't mean what it used to?

Swap Russia for India. Done.

True story: Original quote was attributed to Genghis Khan in Michael Prawdin's 1920s-era history/novel, The Mongol Empire.

Highly recommend it; it's as entertaining as the best Conan stories.

And these are mostly Russian troops, even if they are from different units and different Russian services.

I’d imagine the DPR/LPR militias are going to be ditching their uniforms rather quickly when the Russians fold and the Ukrainian military closes in.

I hope that they catch that fucking traitor from Texas in all the chaos with his pants down taking a shit. He gets startled and falls back into his fresh turds.

The degree to which we have degraded the Russian Army and Air Force, at the expense of exactly 0 American lives and only a rounding error in the federal budget, is amazing.

Our military has taken a lot of shit over the past 20 years, because fundamentally it was asked to do something it's not good at.  We're not the Soviets; we're not very good at installing friendly governments and then crushing a populace to keep that government in charge.  And somehow people took that to mean that the American military isn't that great.

This is showing that not only are we that great; we're even better than that.  The United States armed forces doesn't just have the best equipment; it has the best logistics, the best tactics, the best intelligence, and the best technology in the world.  And it's not even close.

People were running around talking about a multipolar world, and the ascendency of Russia and China.  Aint no motherfucking multipolar anything.  And anybody who thought differently was fooling themselves.  There is one single hyperpower.  And that's it.  The only times anyone could reasonably fool himself into thinking otherwise is when the hyperpower decides to trip over its own dick.

But there's no dick-tripping right now.  And this is a helluva message to send to countries like China and Iran.

Yup, USA military was basically equivalent to Texas football over the past decade.  Massive potential and way too much tripping on our own dicks.

Maybe things will similarly look up for UT, and we'll beat the shit out of Alabama tomorrow.

(or maybe the analogy isn't all that apt... :) )

Maybe the analogy is more that Casey Thompson will throw for 6 touchdowns to Marcus Washington against Georgia Southern tomorrow.

They're right, and so the fuck what.

Yes, but also no.  Armed with Western weaponry.  If they were armed with the 'best' Western weaponry, Top Gun III would already be in production.

In related news, I would like to announce that I am not going to accept a position as Ana de Armas’ exclusive sex provider.

Weird.  I just turned her down too.  T&P during this difficult time for her.
