You guys are flat out pipedreaming.  Trump will never, ever resign.  Never.  His ego fueled by narcissism will not allow it.

He may be impeached, but he'll never be removed.  Not by McConnell's Senate.

And let's just say, for grins, that somehow enough Romney-esque brows are furrowed that McConnell trots over to the White House and says, "we don't have the votes."

He's still.  not.  going. to. go. willingly.

Agreed on that.  I just think he's genuinely sick.  When was the last time he spoke in a coherent sentence, outside of a monotone, sniffing speech, drugged up and with 80 point teleprompter font?  At some point, the Weekend at Bernie's act is no longer gonna work.

There's actually a pretty solid hypothesis out there that he's not so much illiterate as he is blind -- he desperately needs glasses to read anything, but he's too vain to wear them.  So, we get teleprompters with HUGE type on them, or we get him having trouble reading anything normal size.

There's literally no aspect of him that's not laughably shitty.

Teleprompter set up guys trolling DOTARD by putting the teleprompter too far away for him to see. They know he's too vain to actually wear glasses, like every other normal 70+ yr old.

He squints just like I do when I forget my reading glasses.  So yeah, they are trolling him.

Trump must not have a tanning bed available to him the last few days. He went with some self tanner and it's a little too dark. More brown than his usual orange. And Boris may look like an idiot but he's better spoken than Trump.

Hey now, enough of that.  Let's be fair and give credit where it's due.  Trump looks like an idiot too.

If he wants a federal pardon, he’s gonna have to resign and let Pence do it.  Whether it’s before or after November of next year, he can’t take the chances that come 2021, the DOJ runs a train on he and his family.

No he won't.  He will not take the chance of Pence saying, "Well, I'm President now, and you're not, so I decline to pardon you."

He will pardon himself.  Wait and see.

Pence would need Donny’s base to win anything in the future.

The issue isn't Pence, it's DOTUS.

DOTUS would never give that kind of power to Pence.  DOTUS does not fear or respect Pence.  Pence is a willing supplicant, and that is all.

So, he's going to pardon himself, and his kids.

Mike Pence will never win a presidential election. Let him try.

I'd rather not.

Evangelicals will commit voter fraud and vote twice (or more) in the same election to get his ass in office if it's necessary to keep out some godless socialist mixed race lover Democrat out of the Oval Office.  Hell, I'm pretty sure some state election officials will pass out the ballots to be filled out on Sunday morning, then collected with offering.

The vice president is a constitutional officer, he would have to step down to be replaced.  Literally the only person in the Administration Trump can't fire.

Trump can always bribe him to step down. Trump may not really be a billionaire but he's got a shitload more money than Pence, who was basically flat broke when he became VP.

Correct.  I'm just pointing out that Mike Pence is actually the safest person in the administration.  Indeed, he can't even be removed by the cabinet via the 25th amendment.  The only way to remove a vice president is congressional impeachment and conviction.

I didn't know that about the 25th.  That seems like a big oversight.  It may not be as pressing as an incapacitated president, but what if a VP is in a coma?   There won't be a backup for the president until the next election?   I guess the backup would be the Speaker, and if something happens to the president, the comatose VP would become president for 5 minutes until the 25th is invoked as to him and the Speaker steps in?

Well, the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 would come into play, but most constitutional scholars think it's a disaster waiting to happen.  In theory?  The Speaker would become president.  But it's dicey enough that I would think the Secretary of State would immediately sue.

I get you.  But follow me here: Trump says on Twitter "Pence, you're fired.  My new VP is Ivanka."

Who's gonna save us?  Congress?  SCOTUS?  You, Lt. Weinberg?  The only real test will be when new VP Ivanka shows up on the floor of the Senate to fulfill her duties of office.  Will she be seated?  I dunno, let's check with [checks notes] Moscow Mitch.

It's over.  It's been over for a while.  Maybe some of y'all are starting to get that.

Ivanka sounds kinda Russian so I doubt Mitch would see any problems with seating her.

To be a fly on the wall where Trump is when he sees Pelosi announce formal impeachment proceeding this afternoon. (if she actually has the balls to do it)

I think he’ll be absolutely giddy. It’s what he wants. He knows he won’t be removed. Senate won’t vote for it.

But now Trump can play the “witch hunt” card. Just like with Mueller.

It’s the only chance he has to energize Republicans to come out and vote for him. “Woe is me. I’m the victim of the mean Democrats.”

It’s a Hail Mary, but it’s worth the shot from his perspective.

He appealed to his base by whining about social media bans. At a UN speech. Many people in his base are angry that they can't suggest murdering their political rivals or freely drop N-bombs on privately owned social media platforms.  The president appealed to their bizarre grievances. The president. At a UN speech. Fuck everybody.

Huh, odd that it takes a day for the transcript to be released.

If this were not some crazy simulation, I'd expect some high-minded arguments about chilling the speech between heads of state and how this would be a terrible precedent, etc.  But these arguments were, of course, given only passing glances because, hey, ain't nobody got time for that.
