This is the handiwork of [NAME REDACTED]in [WHERE I LIVE]. It’s all chain stitched and is perfect, imo. Shirt is a 70’s, long tail pearl snap shirt that is Pantone perfect. Picked it up today to pack for Columbus, where I’m hoping it isn’t ruined by piss stains (not mine, mind you).

It's Bill in Sinton, isn't it?

Anyway, that's pretty spectacular if I do say so myself. Find a local embroidery shop and they almost certainly already have the UT logo "set up." They'll print it on anything with zero questions asked so long as they're not selling things they put the logo on.

Just picked up this bad boy in Isla Mujeres. Did I spend too much? No, it’s worth every penny

I bought one of these in Cancun years ago. I started noticing small piles of wood shavings around it when I would dust the shelf it was on. Turns out it was infested with some sort of tiny wood boring insect and it wound up infesting the ladder shelf it was sitting on. Had to burn both of them so those fuckers wouldn't spread to anything else.

Not official UT gear but Bass Pro Shop put out this "Texas Longhorn Landscape" hat. I wish the 'Texas' was also in burnt orange instead of red but I still dig it.

Any polo recommendations? The one’s I’ve seen are all around $100 and I’m not a nurse.

Couldn't find a polo I wanted for under $120.  Between cheap ass brands, weird sizing and ridiculous colorways I passed and got a Nike Drifit shirt. Maybe next year.

This one's nice. The rest are terrible.

I’d buy that one if it didn’t have that shit on the back.

I like Homefield in general but damn if it isn't annoying how so much of their best stuff doesn't include Texas.

Well I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that is more the fault of our licensing dept and less to do with the creatives at Homefield

Makes sense but still annoying.

I saw that—just didn’t know why the big discrepancy in price.

You see that pretty often when it's a manufacturer sale.  All the vendors on Amazon are resellers and didn't get that discount from the manufacturer.  I have the Amazon Visa, which gives me "bucks" to spend.  Sometimes I'll see a manufacturer sale on something that doesn't filter down to Amazon, and its a dilemma whether to use actual money and get the full discount or Amazon play money and pay more.

Some of those old trademarks and logos and whatnot are actually abandoned by the university owners and sellers try to go royalty-free.

UT really was one of the first institutions to monetize its trademark IP heavily, so hardly anything is abandoned and everything is subject to licensing and royalties.

I think we are saying the same thing. Only in the last couple of years have you started seeing officially licensed throwback or "vault" gear for Texas. And to reiterate - I don't know how it works - but I suspect that has less to do with increased demand for the product and more to do with our licensing department finally allowing companies to produce the older marks.

I get the impression that the powers that be spent a lot of years building the brand and did not want to weaken the steer head logo by flooding the market with screaming bevo and cranky bevo and runnin' horns bevo, etc.

I may be in the minority but personally I own more "vault" logo gear than stuff with just the iconic steerhead.

Close.

A trademark becomes abandoned, by statute, after three years of non-use.  So, for a lot of schools, there are a number of abandoned throwback logos and such that they can't/don't claim a trademark in and therefore can't/don't license.  So a "throwback" seller may be able to get away without paying royalties or having a license for a while anyway.

UT is pretty savvy and ruthless and made little efforts here and there to make sure even ancient, largely unused logos and marks did not go abandoned.  So any attempt by a seller to go royalty free on an old logo would be met with a cease and desist from Pirkey Barber and be forced to sign up with CLC/Learfield, whoever they are now.
