I think what you do and who you target still matter even if a lack of a standing army affects how you do it.  For example, I can see certainly see an argument for flying a commercial jet into the Pentagon.  We would bomb enemy military headquarters and accept significant civilian casualties to do it.  The difference is more about the "how you do it" vs "who you target", and we have more options that Al Qaeda.  The Twin Towers is harder to rationalize, but I get that Al Qaeda sees Corporate America as part of the war.  I'm not saying 9/11 is justified, but I don't think that argument comes down to how it was carried out.

But targeting kids, no.  Rape, no.  Hamas doesn't get a pass for that. And Israel doesn't get a pass for targeting civilians just because Hamas targeted civilians. But, more to my point of the Algerian reference, I think ultimately it will cost they much more than it helps them.  Bibi is making October 7th effective in its goal.

I should give that a go.  Thanks.

If you haven’t ever seen The Battle of Algiers (sounds like you might have), it's a great, great watch and could apply to just about any insurgency. It's also available to stream on HBO.

It is a very good book. Worth the read. Just ordered a new copy since I am doing some independent studies into the French in Indo China and Algeria.

There is a part in The Centurions and reiterated in Trinquer's thesis on the French in Algeria. A capture terrorist is being bombarded about how could he place bombs in market places. His response was we do not have airplanes.

Before assuming her role, she also suggested in an open letter posted on a personal Facebook account in 2014 that “the Jewish lobby” controlled the United States’ stance on Israel. Ms. Albanese later told The Times of Israel that her choice of words was “infelicitous, analytically inaccurate and unintendedly offensive.”

Sounds pretty accurate to me.

It’s not the Jewish lobby it’s the Israel lobby. Don’t do their work for them conflating the two. Tons of American Jews are not zionists.

Unfortunately, the conflation is intentional by the fascists. It is a means to preempt discourse and discussion on the topic, and ultimately control the dialogue.

It's why any criticism of Israel is met with accusations of antisemitism
