OSU Police are accusing a University of Texas football player of revenge porn, claiming he used social media messaging to share sexually explicit images of an OSU student he had been in a sexual relationship with.

Ishmael Ibraheem, who OSU Police identified as a UT freshman from Dallas, is being charged in Payne County District Court with a misdemeanor of nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images. That specific charge stems from Oklahoma's revenge porn law.

Revenge porn is a term used to refer to someone sending explicit content of someone else in a vengeful way.

In 2016 former Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallon signed State Bill 1257 which created a new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 1040.13b of Title 21. The law went into effect that November.

The bill states a person can be charged with nonconsensual dissemination of private sexual images if they "disseminate the image with the intent to harass, intimidate or coerce the person, or under circumstances in which a reasonable person would know or understand that dissemination of the image would harass, intimidate or coerce the person."

Ibraheem was charged Friday. Police claim he sent his ex and another Oklahoma State University student a video of Ibraheem and the victim engaged in sexual acts. According to the probable cause affidavit, OSU officer Leslie Grotheer was contacted by the victim, who said she received a screenshot of an Instagram direct message from Ibraheem to another person. The message portrayed a Tik Tok video of she and Ibraheem having sex.

The victim told police she didn’t know at the time that it was being recorded, but she told police Ibraheem eventually let her know about it and she asked him to keep it private.

Grotheer said the victim could not view the video because it was a screenshot but recognized it as herself. Ibraheem allegedly told the victim he unsent the message, and the person it was sent to never saw it.

Grotheer contacted the OSU student who received the video from Ibraheem. Grotheer identified the student as an Oklahoma State Football player. The student produced the video for Grotheer and confirmed it came from Ibraheem's Instagram via direct message.

According to the affidavit, the student knew Ibraheem because he would come to OSU and visit the victim and also "knew of him from the college football community.”

Grotheer wrote in the affidavit the still-frame sent to the victim was consistent with the video sent to the other OSU student. Grotheer said the video had the Tik Tok logo with the same username Ibraheem had on Instagram.

News Press attempts to contact UT Athletics have been unsuccessful.

Ibraheem hasn’t been arrested, but there is an arrest warrant with a bond of $2,500.

For this type of criminal behavior, yes.

Ignoring shit like this is how you start down the road of becoming Baylor.

He needs to be gone this morning.

One of the few times I’ll agree with RD. We’re better than this. We don’t need to be Baylor to win games.

How the fuck is that a misdemeanor?

Oklahoma is a seriously fucked up place. The place sucks.

Then again, even in states such as Texas where criminal behavior used to be taken seriously, judges have simply quit applying the law. I literally had a Texas judge refuse to issue an arrest warrant because she claimed no law enforcement officer would take it seriously. Her comment was "You are going to just have to figure something else out."

Go to prison for sending a video of having sex with an adult to another person?

Nah, misdemeanor fits the bill. Should be punished but ruining the kid's life for that is extreme.

yea he needs to go

the story with what you were talking about was his friend jacked the car and then picked him up to go out riding around and he ran when they got pulled over "because"

but lets be honest even when you were young and fucking stupid no one out there just has a friend roll up in some random car to pick you up out of the blue to go riding around and you don't ask "where did you get a fucking car from out of the blue"......all the more so when it probably still has random shit in it from other random people you have never heard of

at best this is a guy that just makes a lot of really fucking stupid decisions and right now Texas has plenty of those at the 5* level of stupid decision making so maybe cut a few here and there along the way

I initially had this thought, as well.

But then I reconsidered.  Perhaps if it was publicly posted, that might warrant a felony, especially if done with identifying information, maybe.

We overcriminalize in this country.  Which is not to say that this shouldn't be a crime.  But the attendant publicity and having it on your record is probably a pretty good punishment, in addition to whatever the court doles out.

Having a video of you willing take dick from your boyfriend sent to one person that doesn’t see it doesn’t quite ruin someone’s life like spending jail time.

Why, did that one person double pinky swear to not show anyone? She didn’t consent to it being shown to other people.  You’d fit in at Baylor pretty well.

I'm wondering if the hard lesson that actions have consequences might improve this guy's life. It seems allowing him to continue to make bad decisions and never being held accountable is what would ultimately ruin his life. He certainly didn't seem to learn anything from how he was treated after his first run-in with the law.

Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.

Carjacking?

"What started as a ride in a friend’s car ended in handcuffs after police pulled the stolen vehicle over. Ibraheem was unaware of why the car was stopped, but when all of his friends ran, so did he.

Now, nearly two months after the incident, Ibraheem is in the process of putting those troubles behind him after being sentenced to community service."

Kid took a ride with friends who had stolen a car and didn't have any involvement in the theft. So little guilt even a Texas court only gave community service to a young black male.

Thirty some odd years ago, a guy from Houston filmed himself porking his girlfriend and then showed it to his entire fraternity at UT.

I'm going to leave the names out, but I am sure a number of people on this board will remember the incident.

The gal was courageous enough to sue him, but thereby Streisand'ed her name into the memories of a lot of people.  The case even made some legal history because her lawyers sued under a "negligent infliction of emotional distress" theory in order to bring it within his parents' homeowners policy.  That was shot down at the Texas Supreme Court.

Still, despite the memory being strong, I think a lot less of him and actually rather highly of her.

Yeah, no.
She stated she wasn't even aware she was being filmed, much less gave consent to share it.

I don’t know what happened. But I do know she very well could have lied about both parts too. Either way, that’s not a life ruining moment. It may be embarrassing as fuck, but it’s not worth sending some dumbass to prison over.

You really think everyone else in the car knew it was stolen and the kid was completely clueless?

I would bet money that if you investigated past how sportswriters framed the situation you would find some "small details" that were left out. If people he knew to be shady characters showed up in a strange car out of the blue that had the ignition cylinder punched and he couldn't put two and two together, the guy was criminally stupid.

Regardless, he needs to be removed from both the program and the university. If he wants to come back after a while and plead for reinstatement, let him. But if the details presented are accurate, he needs to be gone immediately.

Out of an abundance of caution, remove him from the program and the university. let those running the criminal justice program decide his criminal punishment.

Kicking him out of school and throwing him into prison can be two separate decisions arrived at by two different arms of state government.

You're taking the wrong thing from the article. What is evident is that a Texas Court, known for unjustly harsh sentences against minorities, gave a young black male from South Dallas (Kimball HS) community service in an auto theft case.

There's virtually zero chance that would happen if there was any evidence of him being involved in stealing the vehicle. Most likely what happened is there was not much evidence to go on so the DA's office plead it down to community service just to get it off the books.

Regarding this case it's a borderline application of revenge porn laws. Those laws were enacted in response to men putting their exes on blast on social media or over the internet at large. This was dissemination to a single individual. Given how recent these laws were enacted and how borderline this application is there's a very strong possibility this kid had no idea sending the video to that one friend was illegal.

This is such a minor case the only reason Stillwater is making an issue of it is because it's a University of Texas football player. Just send a lawyer up there to get it ironed out and make sure the kid knows this is his last warning and any more run-ins with the law and he's gone from the program

I've seen it.  He spends most of the video slapping her ass, demanding "call me ishmael!!"

So is she kind of a white whale?

In seriousness, he obviously has to be suspended from the team until this is settled. Throwing him off at this point jumps ahead of the process. Leaving him on an active status would be inappropriate.

Can he ball out?
If yes... eh it's a misdemeanor. Get him sensitivity training.
If no... this is horrible! Revoke his scholarship immediately (and give it to someone who can play)
Since I forgot he was on the team until this thread, I'm gonna say bye bye and open up another scholly for a recruit or transfer.

Well he is true freshman who redshirted so might be a bit premature.

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.  Jesus dude

and sending a sex tape out to anyone for any reason with out consent and filming it without consent? On top of being in a stolen car with dubious friends. Come on. This dude is already on the wrong side of the fence. Maybe not felony wrong but he needs some motherfucking help.
