That was a great addition in the playoffs last year.  Would be nice if they did it all season.

Did a fubo trial for the vandy game. For my watching habits, it's actually superior to YTTV. Basically I'm trading CNN/TNT/TruTV for Spurs games. Pretty massive win in my book tbh.

Picture quality didn't strike me as any better or worse than YTTV.

Dvr/navigating 10 seconds back during game for a replay, etc, seemed a little less intuitive than YTTV but not a deal breaker.

You can also stream on way more devices simultaneously on fubo than YTTV. Think it's like 10 vs 4.

Our YTTV just auto renewed for the month on Oct 29, and Google won't prorate your subscription if you cancel early, otherwise I'd have already made the permanent switch. As it is, I'll hold off til next weekend and if we need fubo for Georgia, I'll bite the bullet and double pay for a couple of weeks. Those dicks.

Ah man. We used to do this at my house as a kid. We had the radio going thru a tuner so we could put our own delay on it. Was the tits

Fubo has been fine for me. I really enjoyed watching the Vandy game on the alternate SEC channel as the "Madden" view/stadium cam with no play by play dudes. You can actually hear the PA announcer and the sounds/music.

You can contact their customer support and get a full refund of the month charge. I think I was in for at least a week in a billing cycle when I cancelled. Worked for me when I expressed displeasure with losing the most important channels.

Maybe they have a few domains?  If you google "apollo group channels" that is what popped up.

However, after googling reviews, I think it is a no-go.  Looks like they once were good but tons of buffering, and I can imagine it will only get worse with the YTTV issues.

We use the apollo group tv on a firestick to watch pretty much anything sports. Take it as you will, but I can count on one hand the number of time in the last year where buffering has been a problem. Even those times, just closing out the app and restarting it seemed to fix the problem.

What is Apollo group tv?

Its an IPTV subscription service that pirates lots of TV streams, bundles them together, and provides them for a fee to users that are too f'n stupid to watch pirated streams for free.

I did a fubo trial, it was decently comparable to YTTV. However, I too thought the rewind and fast forward was not intuitive, especially since there is no window to see where you are skipping to. It would also put me in a random spot when I would try to skip ahead while a recording was in progress. The picture quality was a little worse imo. I saw more blocking at the beginning of playback. The thing that pissed me off was their nicely hidden $15 local sports tax.

I will buy a sling tv day pass - it’s like $5 plus tax.

With the Sling day and weekend passes, are you able to record items in advance to watch later?  For example, with YTTV, I have College Gameday always recording so can I wake up and start watching after it starts and just catch up as I skip over commercials, etc.  Or is it just the ability to watch live?

I've noticed some odd bits about the slingtv record. I think it was ESPN3 it wouldn't let me record for some reason ? Aside from that once your day/weekend pass expires you can't view the recordings, but they stay there for some amount of time . I saw a few previous weekends recordings when I activated mine last weekend.

I apologize if this has been covered, but just need some clarification: I'm a YT subscriber, but I also have the Disney+ subscription which includes ESPN+. Monday when I went thru the ESPN app to watch MNF, it told me the game was only available on ESPN Unlimited. When I tried to watch the Duke game Tuesday, it said the same thing "ESPN Unlimited". So even though I have ESPN+, I could not watch on the ESPN app. Is this because I'm a YT subscriber? I mean, they could make the whole country watch on ESPN Unlimited, or were they just buttfucking me because I needed to upgrade my ESPN subscription to Unlimited and because I was a YT guy?

This shit is getting out of hand.

They changed to tiers. You have espn select like i do and many of us do.  They want you to upgrade to unlimited to get the abc/espn suite that is not espn+ content.

and i guess if I want to go without yttv, id need to get the Fox/espn one bundle to capture most of the lost sports. And I haven’t seen any way to bundle that with the Hulu/d+ bundle so who knows what’s what.

I believe current legal thought is that it is illegal to rebroadcast copyrighted content, and its illegal to download copyrighted content, but its not illegal to simply view streaming content if you are not making money (like a bar showing a game). A VPN is a good idea doing anything on the internet these days, but I would definitely recommend a VPN whether accessing streams directly or using these unlicensed IPTV providers like apollo. While it rarely happens, your ISP could theoretically cut you off if they give a shit that you are accessing unlicensed streams. Using a VPN would minimize that risk.

Agreed, they are basically trying to drive subscribers over to the streaming platforms they have ownership and away from YTTV.

Fuck them,  they haven't been a good thing for college sports, or trying to fuck over subscribers with this Unlimited ESPN bullshit, and are responsible for turning loose on America people like Stephen A, Mike Greenberg, Jeff Pasan,  and others.

I say stop bombing Venezuelan drug boats and bomb that campus in Connecticut.

As I understand it, ESPN+ is basically all of the shit that isn't airing on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, etc.  I feel like the only time I ever use it is to see random NHL games or random college baseball or similar that isn't airing on one of the main channels.  ESPN Unlimited is live access to the actual ESPN channels.

So uh this seems bad. Like all those are face or below. Economy seems fine.

Not a lot of data points yet but my Stars season tix for weeknight games I can't attend are selling about 15% lower than last year even though my seats are significantly better.   The fall does typically sell lower than the spring so probably need to look at fall specifically for a better comparison, but still a bit surprised as my actual ticket costs are up about 20% with better seats.

I don't disagree about the economy, but that's the lowest get in price and more reflective of a shitty slate. It certainly won't look like that for Texas/Georgia next Saturday. Most schools don't charge the same for each game. Back in the Big12 days, a Texas ticket would be double or triple that of some other conference foes. I still think Tech has $10 tickets for some home games.

In other news.... YoutTube TV is hemorrhaging subscribers. Google is losing the war. We are all casualties.

https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/youtube-tv-disney-blackout-subscribers-canceling-1236571504/

Quote

According to a new survey, when YouTube TV subscribers were asked what they have done or plan to do in response to the Google-Disney standoff, 24% said they have already canceled or intend to cancel their YouTube TV subscription because the service “no longer delivers the core content they signed up for.” That’s according to a survey of about 1,100 U.S. consumers fielded this week by market research firm Drive Research.

In addition, 30% of YouTube TV subs said they have subscribed or plan to subscribe directly to ESPN Unlimited or Hulu + Live TV to keep access to the sporting events and networks they want to watch. About 22% said they use or (expect to use) someone else’s login for ESPN or Hulu + Live TV — while 15% admitted they have used or may consider an illegal stream.

The real culprit here is Disney, which seems likely to own all of the HD antenna companies. Things won't get back to "normal" until the antennas hit their sales target. Get out there and buy. Now.

Does is show espn and ABC games on the schedule, by chance? bout to do the same.

Sling says it doesn't have local channels in my area.... will they still have rando abc on there anyway?   I don't care about it being local,  but obviously need abc.

Signed up for weekend pass. The guide shows the techsters, aggies and Bamrs all on the ESPN 3 schedule (first, mid and night games).

The implication is it's there, but the ESPN "select" tier/app also presents shows that, when clicked, present you with a "get access" v the content. Anecdotally I've been told that most ABC games are aired on sling via ESPN 3.

It has ESPN but not ABC.  However, I have a leaf antenna for my den TV that gets reception just fine.  That's something for everyone to think about - when you read someone on here saying they using an "antenna" that doesn't necessarily mean a big antenna on the roof of their house.  I am sure it is based on how close you live to the actual local ABC affiliate's broadcasting antenna and where the leaf antenna is in your house, etc. but it works well enough for me.  I actually tape it up high on the wall by the TV for better reception.

Always have wondered how Disney's purchase of Hulu (can't remember if that was 2019 or 2021) was allowed to go through as this has been where it has been heading since that acquisition.

What a bizarre way to quantify ticket price trends. Take the BYU Tech game for example, I would guess that is one of the more expensive games to hit lubbuck in a few years. This morning's seatgeek pricing.

Disney and NBCUniversal were partners in Hulu. Disney bought them out during the Universal sale. Hulu is going to disappear into Disney+

Reason why I am hesitant to cancel YTTV and go with Hulu.

Much of the ESPN + stuff is crap as in the spring I am more apt to listen to TCU baseball on the app while I am doing things than sit and watch and after college football season and end of the F1 season I rarely watch ESPN.

Curious if Disney is going to do with ESPN what has happened with SkySport.
