Y'all motherfuckers. Y'all motherfuckers. I'm not saying that Anna Kendrick, Heather Graham, young Susan Sarandon, or Emma Stone are all 12/10 or anything. And I'm sure those of you whose wives haven't left you penniless, destitute, and miserable beyond comprehension, dearly, dearly love your spouse and consider her (or him - no judgment here) to be the most gorgeous sentient alive.

But y'all motherfuckers. Somewhere between the ages of 17 and 27, likely the vast majority of that timeframe, all of y'all would have crawled belly first through broken glass for a single crumb of a crumb of pussy from any of the actresses listed above. Don't act like you wouldn't have. It's unbecoming.

I'm confused. The house settelment puts a cap on what the schools themselves can pay, but I thought NIL was still uncapped. How does putting a cap on NIL jibe with the unanimous Alston SCOTUS decision?

Here is what ChatGPT told me...is this wrong?

What the House settlement caps:

  • Schools that opt into the settlement will be allowed to pay current Division I athletes directly from school revenue—up to an annual cap.

  • That cap starts at $20.5 million per school for the 2025‑26 academic year and is expected to increase by about 4% annually over the next decade (potentially reaching around $33 million) uscannenbergmedia.com+15cbssports.com+156abc.com+15.

What they didn’t cap: third‑party NIL deals

  • Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) money that athletes receive from third-party sources—such as individual endorsement deals, collectives, or boosters—is not counted against the school’s revenue-sharing cap. These deals remain unlimited in terms of the amount, as long as they reflect fair market value and serve a valid business purpose

I'm pretty sure boosters are included in the 20.5 cap because they are expected to do the stuff with learfield and the AD. Boosters are weird and aren't really a third party AFAIK

Everything else is accurate. The boogeyman bag game is stupid, there are more teams that don't have to rely on outside money to make offers and now that has put a strain on people like Texas who didn't really have to compete at certain tiers. This is an overall good thing and healthy, Texas isn't and never has gotten every single recruit it wants. That's fine, this class is still elite.

Can we win at least one title before we start worrying about the health of the sport?

I assumed it was either this or the fact that there's only one pot of money, whether you push it to NIL or to revenue sharing. If there's $30 million in the pot, but $20 million into rev share and $10 million into NIL. Maintaining the current roster has eaten up a lot of money that would have otherwise gone to high school recruits.

But I'm not sure that can be right. Can't the school now kick in money? If we were all donor supported before, we should have an extra $20 million from the AD's budget to play with. My "one pot" idea only makes sense if the AD isn't kicking in any money and it's still all donor supported, while other schools are using donors and AD money.

I'm probably not explaining this very well - and I certainly don't know what I'm talking about - but the gist is that I am also confused and trying to figure out what the problem is.

I think the AD is already to a significant extent (more than $20M/yr, at least) funded by booster donations, is it not? So there may not be a marginal difference between "AD kicking in money along with boosters" vs. "boosters 100% responsible for paying the players". What the AD can do is pursue cost cutting and/or additional revenue streams to allow for more allocation towards football.

I could imagine a scenario where the overly bloated useless bureaucracy that is Texas Athletics is a bit of a competitive disadvantage compared to a more lean AD that allocate a higher share of total revenue to players.

Let me ask a question for those familiar.  What is the punishment for going over the NIL cap?  Kicked of the SEC, NCAA?  What is the mechanism to punish the people who are over budget?

Follow up question, what is the punishment for a team that promises $X NIL and doesn't pay?  (Other than kid transfers and public scrutiny the following year).

I am confident that Texas will make whatever deviations are needed in the next four months to close with a top 10 class if not top 5 again.

This shit is so funny. I hope someone in that recruitment for our side said. “See that highly valued DT D’antre Robinson? He took more money to go to Florida and already transferred out. Don’t be a D’antre, be a Maraad Watson.”

That kid manipulated the fuck outta Florida. Dropped dimes to every $9.95er out there that Texas was in the lead, and every time a different DT picked a team not named “Florida,” he made sure to remind the recruiting hacks how much he loved Texas. To save face, the Gators broke the bank. Smart kid.

As long as we're very faithfully sticking to the topic of recruiting the 2026 class, I just wanted to say that you're a madman, sir, and I absolutely cannot respect your opinion on this (though I'm sure you have many fine, perfectly cromulent opinions on many other topics).  Susan Sarandon is and always will be one of the hottest women I've ever seen. Something, something, crawling crotch first through broken glass (or at least the young, unmarried version of campcrunk would have).

I think I've already said all I needed to say.

Also, any Twin Peaks fan who can discuss the universe's love for Dougie Jones is OK in my book, even if they are wrong about certain award winning actresses. May the White Lodge (or whatever that weird Judy entity living in Sarah Palmer was - if you're into that) keep you safe and happy

Push boundaries like creating the nation's biggest and best NIL collective, spending more in NIL than everyone else in the nation, while killing the portal and ending with the #1 recruiting class in the nation, LITERALLY LAST YEAR? Other schools are pushing those kinds of boundaries? Oh wait, some 17 year olds made non binding decisions based on absurd potential numbers before fall camp has even started and you for some unknown reason let that ruin your entire mental state...but oh, ah yes, Texas and their vaginal tendencies.

(Justin Wells) Texas Longhorns Recruiting Intel: How the Horns could finish at DT in 2026

Quote

After Fort Myers (Fla.) DT Kendall Guervil committed to Florida, Inside Texas take a closer look at UT’s current 2026 defensive line haul and how the Longhorns could finish the cycle. A defensive tackle class of Corey Wells, Vodney Cleveland, and Dylan Berymon is a tremendous foundation for Kenny Baker and the Horns. They’ll look to add one more before the class is done and dusted.

Jaimeon Winfield, DL, Richardson (Texas) – USC commit

This guy has been at the top of UT’s D-line big board for the longest time, and he hasn’t moved from that spot. Despite Winfield “shutting down his recruitment” and no longer taking visits, that hasn’t stopped Baker and the staff from connecting with the four-star on a regular basis. This is a recruitment to watch until he signs in mid-December. Winfield is ranked as the No. 96 overall prospect, the No. 7 defensive lineman, and the No. 15 player in Texas in the On3 Industry Ranking.

Keith Dotie, DL, Mesquite (Texas) Poteet – SMU commit

Texas really liked the SMU pledge when the Longhorns visited Poteet this past spring. So much so that they offered the big Metroplex interior defender. He committed to SMU in late April, however. If Texas finds itself in a position where they have to take four, IT could see the Longhorns kicking the tires on Dotie. Dotie is ranked as the No. 615 overall prospect, the No. 62 defensive lineman, and the No. 93 player in Texas.

Bryce Perry-Wright, DL/EDGE, Buford (Ga.)

More of an EDGE than a DL, Texas is not in the mix for the Peach State product after the Horns took Richard Wesley and remain in a strong position for Jamarion Carlton. Multiple predictions have come in for Perry-Wright to end up at Texas A&M. Perry-Wright is ranked as the No. 33 overall prospect, the No. 5 EDGE, and the No. 5 player in Georgia in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking.

Lamar Brown, DL, Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab

It was fun while it lasted, but this kid was always going to either LSU or Texas A&M. I’m also sure he was able to drive up his price after his official trip to Austin. Brown is ranked as the No. 7 overall prospect, the No. 1 athlete, and the No. 1 player in Louisiana in the On3 Industry Ranking.

The Late Senior Eval

Texas is always looking at the late senior risers in the recruiting ranks. With the best-case being finding the next Moro Ojomo or unearthing prospects that the Longhorns’ snagged late in the cycle like Warren Roberson and Aaron Butler, Baker and company will look to potentially duplicate that in the trenches in 2026.
