living inside the loop and outside the loop is night and day

Oh I know.

But people moving to Houston for the "cheaper COL" and "cheap housing" are finding that those houses they expect for cheap are the cookie cutter McMansions on the outside of 99 and you have to commute into town for your job.

"But it's affordable!"

"The schools!"

"More space for my family!"

Bro, it's your soul sucking commute, not mine!

I would say that "mostly" applies as areas like Garden Oaks, the Memorial area or Meyerland may technically be OTL but are a far far cry from The Lakes of McMansion Estates of Cinco City of Missouri Sendera

See, now that's just a dumbfuck, performative use of bail.  Yeah the guy "did it," but there's no evidence that he's a flight risk or continuing threat.

Cheese and rice what a take.

The performative use of bail was giving him any bail at all. He is not a flight risk but he is damn sure a threat to the public.

“He did it” - which was shooting a child for a bullshit reason and you want him back there for another shot

Lets say some tick tok kids decide to troll him and another gets shot, still going to be complaining about a high bail number?

Pure insanity

I live inside the Beltway and enjoy the use of a regular sized front and back yard and a pool. I am unashamed.

There's a pair of MH-60s orbiting low over downtown and Montrose followed by another pair of helicopters, all just a couple hundred feet up if that. Transponders off per Flightradar

edit not sure why this didn't work lets try uploading from a computer

edit2 : i think the board software thinks it's a blank video because it's black to start with before the phone turns the gain up

edit3: h265 issue?

edit4: yup had to recode to 264

All the Katy people at my office arrive at 5am and leave at 3pm. They claim it’s 30 minutes each way with minimal traffic on the Westpark Tollway.

Not for everybody, but it works for them.

That said, they absolutely dread office happy hours and will do anything to move the meeting to lunch.

It's amazing how every discussion around Houston always ends up talking shit on anyone living outside the loop or beltway or whatever other imaginary boundary of the moment. Not sure if anyone has noticed, but houses are fucking expensive, insurance is fucking expensive, private school is fucking expensive, and COL is out of control. People live where they can afford to live with the fewest number of trade offs.

Houston is one of the few massive cities in the US that doesnt have shit within 40 miles from city center. No cool small towns, no cool geographic features (galveston is 50 miles iirc), nothing that really makes it unique. The suburbs in Houston are just fucking awful, in every direction. I could argue that The Woodlands is fine, but its all fake, man-made bullshit a la Cinnamon Shore.

There is no New Braunfels, no Waxahachie, no Granbury or Johnson City. No Boerne, no Weatherford/Possum Kingdom, no Ennis. No Balcones Escarpment, Edwards Plateau, rivers for floating, cool hikes, history left that isnt torn down. Its just unchecked sprawl, flooding, and paving over much needed gulf prairie. There isnt a single place in Houston outside the loop that is worth driving to in under 45ish min. Its not even fucking cheap to live in anymore. San Antonio and parts of DFW are much cheaper and better places to live with better weather, schools and traffic. Also, I dont give a shit but Houston is one of the most unsafe cities in the US and the highest crime rate in the state.

The only pros are the ones constantly mentioned on here: Diversity, Food, mayyyybe the museums and arts, and its just over an hour to the beach. Its on par with El Paso and below the other Big 4 in Texas in its desirability imo
