It always takes too damn long for the details to leak out and the prospects are wrong quite regularly.

Since when is being 50% right a A?

wtf are you talking about.  Mets asked for Brown and Gilbert.  Astros offered Gilbert and Clifford.  Mets blinked.

Framber, JV, Javier, Brown, France... with Urquidy coming back?  I'm more than good with this.

Now figure out a way to get Soto and Hader from the Padres.

Including Brown was the nonsense part.

Prospects are just that....bold move though,  cotton let see if it pays off.

I got a feeling we ain't done though

Yeah, should have clarified as bonafide starter.

extend tucker and see how much everybody misses minor league outfielders.

do it.

JV apparently will just meet us in NY and join us for the Yankee series.

Not only his entire salary, but send us money to trade for another bat. Holy fuck.

It was hard enough when it was Loperfido. Finding out it was Clifford who I had 12 as a trade chip right behind Peña at 11 makes it really sting.

This is the way.

I'm okay with this deal, assuming the Mets ate a bunch of salary.

And we might not be done here?

He can start any of those games.  Friday would be normal rest for him.

Damn it sucks to lose Clifford. Must be a lot of Verlanders salary involved.

Y'all we still got that lefty power bat in Sugar Land waiting to get called up .....

Prediction:

  • Astros game ends tonight at 9:38PM CDT as a win. Tied with Rangers for first place for the next 14 minutes.
  • Rangers game ends tonight at 9:52PM CDT as a loss. Astros a half game ahead the Rangers.
  • JV starts Thursday at NYY.
  • Astros never lose sole possession of the AL West again this season en route to WS championship #3!!!

Fuck it - I'm over the loss of Gilbert and Clifford already. Resign Tucker and Chas and it won't make a shit.

We need a 6-man rotation. It is the reason our pitching was so dominant in the playoffs.

That comes across better as "Re-sign".

JV makes us better this year and next. But the Mets better be eating a ton of that contract, and we better be prepared to then use that money to sign Tucker. Otherwise, what an massively inefficient move this will have been.

On the bright side she is back. Also don't sleep on Jacob Melton.

I knew the usual suspects would be bemoaning their prospect losses on this deal. This is the window. It may extend forever, like the Cardinals, or it may fade over the next few years. Still, no time like the present, motherfuckers, it is time to get to gettin'.

I prefer this one

So, assuming the prospects are Gilbert and Clifford and the Mets are eating a ton of JV’s salary, does this confirm that Crane has a little bit of a cheap streak?

If the Astros were willing to pay more in salary, the prospect cost should have decreased.

Clifford/Gilbert feels steep.

Yeah but Dusty hates Chas. Gotta factor that in

So let's say JV wins another ring and finishes his career with the Astros... does he still wear the Old English D in Cooperstown?

Well that's why you deal Meyers, so he doesn't have an alternative.

$50mil

The Padres aren't selling anymore after they swept the Rangers.  Not sure why we keep talking about it.  I am also just posting this because I hope I am wrong.

Yes, because the baseball writers are morons.

Dusty is still mad about that Myles Straw trade especially after getting to watch him play last night with his 0 homers and 20 rbi.

As a fan, I don’t really care about who’s paying JV. I’m hoping this works out and fan bases always over-value their team’s prospects.

Hopefully the Astros show Tucker the money in the offseason.

The trade makes a lot more sense now with how much money the mets are sending.

We ain't gonna end up with shit. And Maldonado and Jake are starting tonight.

You were half right:

How does the Mets paying impact luxury tax?

More concerned about that than the cash flow to Crane and his partners.
