Voting on something that never effects you except for making you feel like you owned the libs is not as energizing as being a woman who is now being threatened and actively being shown that if you need medical care you won't get it. Doctors who can't provide care they want to are not going to stand by and not vote.

They are not the same. Stop equating them it's nonsense.

If it were so energizing they would have turned out in 2016 and 2020, where were they then? Waiting for the hate to become openly racist? You think the proud boys decided not to vote cuz it wasn't enough hate before? Like come the fuck on.

Voting on something they effects you should be more energizing, YOU HOPE. But you don’t know, because you’re not broken.

also, the Hate not being energized in 2016? Did you see what happened in 2016? Trump started normalizing hate and he gained these voters. When Richard Spencer praises Tucker Carlson, and Trump says “good people on both sides” and names the Proud Boys in. A debate, he’s absolutely gaining non voting hate fueled people and getting them to vote.

we rejected that knob in 2020 coming off his disaster, but unfortunately propaganda and short memories have us where we are…and for me that’s not certain, or confident. Otherwise we’d be so energized that no amount of polling would be showing anything other than an easy win, regardless of polling flaws or bias.

I like Galveston fine, but I hope PR never hires your ass for their tourism board.

Well, Trump's base is lost and they are reliably energized by hate, true.

According to everything we hear, they're trying to energize undecideds and low-propensity voters.  And while hate may energize some percentage of them sitting on their couches watching football, I'm thinking it may not unass them to vote.

Oh and they think the ones that voted for him in 2016 and 2020 are in the bag, especially after Jan 6. Which is demonstrably and measurably false to the tune of a solid single digit % to low double digit % depending on state/location etc.

People do not think inciting insurrection is good stuff for a presidential candidate. Hate also turns people off who aren't extreme, like in a big way. So for every hate filled couch sitter who goes and votes there is at least one defector or non voter from a category they previously thought they had in the bag.

Its an enormous miscalculation because he's surrounded by the dumbest people. It's impossible to say he's surrounded by a more talented and brilliant team than 2016 or 2020. Did you see his legal defense post insurrection? Have you been following his big time losing on nearly all cases? It's all filled with completely stupid people wish-casting shit and using the media like a fucking puppet mouthpiece to promote disinformation.

You think people are voting for a mother fucker who said immigrants are eating cats and dogs? What kind of regarded shit is that. I know people who were planning on wallet voting for Trump who bailed after that. It's gotten too stupid and bad for normies.

It's only nonsense in the particular way you're trying to equate them, but you're doing so incorrectly. The true MAGATs think they're responding to something that DOES affect them - their life, their safety, their children's safety, etc. You keep missing that.

Agreed. San Juan is on a whole other level. One of my favorite things in San Juan is locals you have known for all of 15 minutes apologizing for how bad the beaches are* and then inviting you on a chinchorreo with 3 generations of extended family.

*they honestly believe the beaches are not great, despite the fact that they have among the best urban beaches in the world.

Not the main point here, but lol at that Angry Birds pig Matt Mackowiak being shown his ass with this.

Also have to ignore the 2022 midterm elections, the Dobbs ruling, and any statewide abortion referendum. We just pretend that there weren't any elections since 2020.

Georgia overnight data dump highlights

1.  3.058 million have cast votes

2.  Women outpace men by 358k, 55.7%

3.  2020 non voters make up 560k of the total or 18.6%

4.  2020 day of voters make up 221k or 7.2%

Of the 2020 non voters the 18-29 demo is 195k, whereas 50-64 is 109k and 65+ is 100k.  If there was concern about the elder non vote beating that young vote, that is rapidly fading.

Fortress Atlanta Voting Totals

1.  Clayton County -61k or 28%

2.  Cobb County - 215k or 36%

3.  Dekalb County - 207k or 35%

4.  Fulton County - 318k or 35%

Correct. Just live in a complete fantasy world where we are surrounded by Nazis who talk shit about Puerto Rico and then they vote for him harder.

I’m going to keep hammering this with credit to Huckleberry:

we don’t know shit about fuck, when it comes to EVs and mail returns.  And we won’t know shit about fuck until they start counting.

Independent voters make up a 1/3 of the electorate and you can’t reasonably predict how they are going to vote. Just like a few points in either direction among your party faithful can have a huge impact in the final total.

Each election year, beyond an outlier like 1956, 1984, 1996, is a unique snowflake and you can’t really digest all that much at a meta level from it. Vote, knock doors, cope however you need to.

Reading all yalls twitter feeds is awesome. Really compelling message board content.

This is perplexing. Help me out. So you’re not upset with an attack that indiscriminately attacked hundreds of civilians, or the comment that an American should be possibly killed for supporting innocent civilians of another country, but at the fact when the speaker is fired we shouldn’t draw attention to it?

Did you want more compelling board commentary with the links/posts? Cause that would be an odd request since the first thing you did was simply whine like a snowflake that you even saw the news of his termination. Great chime in there, good stuff

The increasing loudness of some Wall Street leaders saying that Trump will win tells me that they’re unsure that Harris is slightly leading.

If they truly thought the race was over, they would just sit back and do whatever behind the scenes that would make them and their client the most money. Instead they’re trying to move the needle ever so much by telling everyone the race is over.

I’m confident we are united in purpose, and there’s no need to prove your vote to me or anyone else. But I hope every strong voice on this message board is also out voting, putting words into action. It’s not enough to just vent here. This board has members from all over the country, and every single vote matters in sending a message that rejects fascism in America.

I think it’s a reflection that the election is close. Across the board tariffs and mass deportations are going to induce Argentina style inflation, and you are seeing a Trump trade developing as a hedge.  That’s just smart business sense. If he loses, it’s just a transaction fee loss.

So I got trolled IRL by a Maga granny.   I made the unforgivable mistake of food shopping at a Walmart grocery store.

CSB: As I was walking up the eggs I noticed an older lady (assume late 60s) opening egg containers and looking through them for broken eggs.  Then she would put the container back and go to another brand and she seemed to be seriously pondering the eggs.  I watched for 30 seconds or so because she and her cart kinda blocked the eggs I wanted to get.   Once she moved aside and I slipped in and grabbed a carton of eggs.  While I was checking them for damage she walks up behind me and in a playful conspiratorial tone says "$6 dollars for eggs can you even imagine?"  Then she hit me with the Joe Biden did this, then corrected herself to say it was Kamala!  Foolishly I thought to myself that she really didn't know about global inflation and how the US actually had lower rates of inflation than other modern nations post covid.   As soon as I mentioned it and that Biden had done a magnificent job in managing a soft recovery she started in with the Maga talking points.    I told her I would never vote for a felon, a rapist, and a racist and walked away.   She followed me halfway across the store spouting Trump bullshit, he was framed, the libs!, only Trump can save us....  Finally I turned around and said loudly enough that several people nearby turned to see what was happening "34 felonies and counting! he's a damned rapist for god sakes"   She just smirked and said TDS and headed back to the eggs to wait for the next person to hassle. /CSB

Not energized, huh?

not only to set a narrative, meaning the challenge of the election after the loss, but also to convince the chuckleheads that they have to bother to show up at the polls. If they read they are five points down the “I only vote for a winner. “ phenomena sets in .

Here's the thing about the people complaining about grocery prices: they're morons. They complain about the cost of things, but you can't help but notice they all drive a new car, they all have the newest phone, they all have the newest TV. They spend globs of money on unnecessary shit they don't need then have the gall to complain about how much shit costs.

For them, it's never about cutting their own costs. It's everyone else's fault that they can't seem to save any money.

She wasn't buying any eggs, just pretending and waiting for people who were buying eggs.  I was buying Organic Freerange blah blah blah... I'm willing to spend a little cash not to torture some birds.   They're $5.99 a dozen.  There are MANY cheaper options for the maga brokies.

Edited by locodos

Broad brush calculations regarding Americans of Puerto Rican descent:  we are told there are 500K living in Pennsylvania.  Let's assume 75% of them (375K) are of voting age.  Let's assume 60% of them (225K) were already going to vote, a similar proportion to the national numbers in 2020.

That leaves 150K pissed off people who might now be energized to vote in the swingiest swing state of all.  Now, surely all are not registered to vote, but Biden's margin was 80K in 2020, so it's probably significant, regardless.

It may be anecdotal evidence but in my experience urban/suburban types might early vote but they generally wait until the last few days.  We're busy people and forget and then realize it's only a few more days.  I have no data to back that up but I'm curious if that's true on a large scale.

They wouldn't disagree with you, because they were voting in their perceived financial best interest. You are exactly correct they saw a loser who on the biggest stage stepped all over his dick and lost his mind. We are saying the same thing, but instead of calling them fascists because they want fascism they were more the its not gonna negatively impact me and I'll be richer/have more money. I'm not saying it was right or tolerable or that is was accepting of their position. I mean, I'm sure I can't tell when I eat them at restuarants, but yeah, I eat the pasture raised organic eggs, or regular organic at HEB for $4.50 a dozen. That extra buck fifty in either direction really doesn't show up on my monthly budget much, so I admit to being perplexed by the outrage. Of course, I'm not raising a family of three teenage boys or anyhthing like that, so who knows.

A Venn diagram of the sufferers of ostrich effect and normies/politically under informed voters is god damned near a circle.

When you yank an ostrich out of its head hole and make normies decide if they want to be a piece of shit or not they actually do react, and mostly unfavorably.

We are saying the same thing, but instead of calling them fascists because they want fascism they were more the its not gonna negatively impact me and I'll be richer/have more money. I'm not saying it was right or tolerable or that is was accepting of their position. I just didn't come in hot calling them a fascist racist piece of shit I had a normal conversation with them and they eventually came around and saw the reality.

I guess I just don't believe in using kid gloves when people are planning for vote for a goddamn fucking criminally fraudulent fascist rapist. Hell one of my neighbors has a big ass trump/Vance sign in their yard and I am perfectly friendly with them, even let them come say hi to my baby that I was walking around the neighborhood. But I just don't talk politics with trumpers, and if they insist on pressing the subject, I'll share my honest opinion with them and not use kid gloves to protect their feefees.

Again, if they were still planning on voting for trump, they weren't """normies""". They were planning on voting for fascism. That's not fucking normal.

And yes, we know those ostriches generally choose to be a piece of shit when confronted with reality, we have in fact read the Daily Texan board.
