Most current FSD build with latest hardware easily passes the Roadrunner test:

The second vehicle tested has the same hardware and software build that I do, so I still need to be on guard for desert road murals, anvils, and bundles of dynamite.

So I’m trying to figure out who gets fucked in twitter getting sold to Elon’s company. I guess the original investors and lenders that bought Twitter have their positions rolled over into this bigger entity. Given that, whoever is investing in his AI company just bought an inflated asset. But given that the ai company is also an inflated asset, it doesn’t really matter. So, in summary

Best I can figure, he’s trying to get twitter lumped in with his ai company so he can take the whole thing public again and get an ai valuation from it.

So I guess it’s the rubes that buy it then that get fucked.

clearly there is massive fraud here but well self-dealing then you can hide a lot for a long time.

Fraud in the $33B valuation price or elsewhere? I would love to see those numbers.

His other twitter investors were always quick to release bad X numbers to the press, and most likely he couldn’t stop providing the numbers to them and prevent them from leaking them. I assume they are now AI shareholders but who know maybe Elon paid some of the in cash (AI raised capital) to get rid of them. More details will come out.

i also would discount the idea that he’s hurting depending on how much he’s borrowed against his Tesla shares. Perhaps this sale somehow played into that.

Elon is not hurting for cash. He can loan against Starlink/spacex/TSLA shares in the private market for a sum of money with so many zeros that the average American couldn't comprehend.

Morgan Stanley is happy to loan against those shares at a super low rate. They don’t even give a shit they got burned on Twitter debt. The flim flam man keeps the wizard of Oz act going for now.

Elon has a cash problem in that he's not as liquid as everyone thinks.  His pattern of collateralizing stock works as long as prices and valuations continue rising but when they don't he can get in trouble quite suddenly.  I've seen an estimate that his TSLA holdings might be as heavily as 50% collateralized with a margin call on the first tranche somewhere around the 210s.

there was an arm's length transaction for the whole of the company which valued it at whatever the fuck it was just a couple of years ago. have the fundamentals eroded since then? sure. has it required a new valuation? probably not. the people who are fucked are the other investors* in elon's AI company who've just been diluted by another $33 billion in issuance but they're along for the elon+AI meme stock ride.

My son (18) loves the outdoors and is a big environmentalist. Global warming is his biggest fear and he has been a huge Musk proponent because he thought Musk mainstreaming EVs was going to be revolutionary. So you can imagine he was devastated when Trump won and then felt huge betrayal when Musk did his heel turn

But he’s also an eternal optimist and looking to find the good in the bad. Today he says to me “what if Musk is actually a genius? even though he is pissing off all the traditional Tesla buyers, what if he actually is expanding EVs to a whole new market? Liberals have other EV options but now Trumpers will be buying Teslas”

I said that sounds great but hardly any Trump supporters can afford a Tesla.

Not believing me he gets on the googles and finds the following:

1. Musk’s aligning with Trump has greatly increased the popularity of Teslas, especially the cyber truck, among Trump followers

2. The average Trump supporter makes 50K per year.

his conclusion: Musk is a fucking moron

Thank you, Charlottes Clymer, for a suitably solemn counterpoint to my quoted earlier post. And may God bless all who gave their last full measure of devotion to the ideals of this country that I loved.

Naming a naval vessel after Musk is really really bad luck. I'm only a little 'stitious, but the symbolism of a word that attracts predators due to its scent seems particularly ill-advised. Sailors need all the luck they can get...

Other ship naming news

Also part of the ‘Make Ship Names Great Again’ order, reports suggest that another new vessel, a Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) ship, will be named after the United States Secretary of Defense Hegseth. This has been denied by the White House press secretary. The administration has roundly criticised speculation based on unclassified-classified sources.

Meanwhile, it now seems likely that the oldest commissioner ship in the U.S. Navy, the USS Constitution, will be disposed of. The vintage vessel, which is made of wood, is no longer considered fit for purpose. Speaking over the weekend, a spokesperson for DOGE noted that wooden ships have no place in a modern warfare. This will also free up the Navy’s oak forests for commercial purposes.

Check the date. I hope so, anyways...

I don't have any basis for that conclusion other than today's the day, and, well, that's just my gut reaction, so don't go around thanking deities for saving us from stupid shit yet.

Extremely fucky to announce something like this on April fools day. I have no doubt that El presidente would rename Big E into the Musk.

No fucking way does a carrier get named for Musk before one gets named for Trump.

Yeah, come on, people.

I mean, sure.....we're living in a time where satire is dead, and nothing is too absurd to be real, but at least TODAY, exercise a bit of scrutiny.

Now, I have to get back to my torrid affair with Sela Ward.  She beckons me from yonder bedroom.

https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2025/03/cybertruck-washington-dc/682232/

On the first Sunday of spring, surrounded by row houses and magnolia trees, I came to a horrifying realization: My mom was right. I had been flipped off at least 17 times, called a “motherfucker” (in both English and Spanish), and a “fucking dork.” A woman in a blue sweater stared at me, sighed, and said, “You should be ashamed of yourself.” All of this because I was driving a Tesla Cybertruck.

I had told my mom about my plan to rent this thing and drive it around Washington, D.C., for a day—a journalistic experiment to understand what it’s like behind the wheel of America’s most hated car. “Wow. Be careful,” she texted back right away. Both of us had read the stories of Cybertrucks possibly being set on fire, bombed with a Molotov cocktail, and vandalized in every way imaginable. People have targeted the car—and Tesla as a whole—to protest Elon Musk’s role in Donald Trump’s administration. But out of sheer masochism, or stupidity, I still went ahead and spent a day driving one. As I idled with the windows down on a street in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, a woman glared at me from her front porch: “Fuck you, and this truck, and Elon,” she yelled. “You drive a Nazi truck.” She slammed her front door shut, and then opened it again. “I hope someone blows your shit up.”

Earlier that day, my first stop was the heart of the resistance: the Dupont Circle farmers’ market. The people there wanted to see the organic asparagus and lion’s-mane mushrooms. What they did not want to see was a stainless-steel, supposedly bulletproof Cybertruck. Every red light created new moments for mockery. “You fucker!” yelled a bicyclist as he pedaled past me on P Street. The diners eating brunch on the sidewalk nearby laughed and cheered. Then came the next stoplight: A woman eating outside at Le Pain Quotidien gave me the middle finger for a solid 20 seconds, all without interrupting her conversation.

Not that I would rent such a thing, ever.  But if I did I would 100% be sure to get full insurance coverage on it.  One would be a fool not to do so.

The most powerful Nazi warship since the Bismarck. Hopefully the admiralty sinks it before Musk’s seamen board.

If literally any of the conspiracy theories about the CIA were true they’d have killed him long ago. So I guess that’s evidence that actually DOGEing the CIA is probably one of the least damaging things they’ll do.

Elon’s $25m and time completely wasted. Wasn’t even a close election.  54-45.  If Elon has ignored the election perhaps the GOP would have won. Nah, Trump’s falling popularity would have ensured a loss but Elon created a larger margin.
