I've never once thought, "I want to move to Dallas" in my entire life, seeing how much rain they've received the last year compared to us, the thought is tempting.

How is y’all‘s cistern doing? Have you been able to maintain an adequate supply of water for your needs?

We have 11,000 gallons as of today, 1 inch gives us about 2500 gallons. It’s highly unlikely even in the worst of the drought we will run out. 2 inches before the end of June will get us through the summer dry season.

We need about 13 a year to be fine. We’ve hit more like 20 per year in the worst of times.

The only way the Highland Lakes are going to get anywhere near close to full is a rain bomb around Marble Falls which happened 15 or 20 years ago. A large thunderstorm basically parked right on top of Marble Falls and dumped 18” of rain in six hours.

Lake Travis went from way low to flooded and the water actually almost got high enough to go over the spillway at Mansfield Dam.

Might be the last time Travis was full.

Coming up on the 10-year anniversary when inhabited houses floating down the Blanco came to the forefront.

We helped clean up just across the river where the Porsche double parked. I'll never forget the mammoth cypress trees just turned on their sides. I wanna say Travis rose 40+ feet from those rains but don't recall whether it filled up.

Oh it filled up and basically flooded.

Most of the boat ramps were totally underwater for a pretty good amount of time.

i had bought a jet ski and kept it for about 8 years and I had access to the Lago Vista and Bar K boat ramps which was great because you almost never had to wait.

All of Bar K park was underwater for quite awhile and there was no way to launch.

Travis was extremely dangerous then because of all of the debris in the water.

Were you with the shaggy group that went and helped? I can't remember everyone's username from that day.

I was there the day after the shaggy group was. Went with co-workers. A scene you can never erase from your mind. I think two of the kids in the house were never found.

Lat time the lake was considered full was 2019, I think

Cool story bro time. I was bartending at Carlos and Charlies during this. I lived close by, and the owner of Just For Fun called me and everybody else nearby (he was also part owner of CNC) because they needed help letting out the lines on all the boat docks before all the boats were destroyed. If I remember correctly, there were only a few that were seriously damaged. Otherwise, would've been tens of millions in losses just in that marina. We also had to do the same to the damn restaurant. Just hours of manual cranking of winches. Nothing we could do about all the cars left in the parking lot that night. A dozen or so vehicles 20 feet underwater in a matter of hours. They hired some divers the next day for anybody that needed to retrieve stuff out of their cars.

Yep that always haunts me. So many car sized clumps of debris that we combed through pulling out personal items to stack on a rock wall for people to come get, but before we did they had to go over with us what to do if we found a human body part.

My guess is those kids bones are still in one of those clumps somewhere 100 miles down the river in the middle of nowhere.

I was helping also but not with Shaggy.  Got to see a recovered body being removed via helicopter just across the river.  Fun times.
