that is for suckers. Tariff-less Chinese made iphones imported to Mexico will get smuggled over the border.

Donald Trump will create a cartel that does business in cell phones instead of narcotics, because nothing is too stupid for this timeline.

We'll probably end up with a produce cartel, too.  You'll have to go to a back alley with a suitcase of money to buy an avocado because, and this is true, the UFC guys convinced young people in the Deep South that a reality TV host was a brilliant businessman and white people are being persecuted by brown people.

There are really no limits to how fucking ridiculous this place is gonna get.

Well now your tech dumbass (jk) is just repeating my talking point to radical r’s which is the same people who want manufacturing to return to America are the same people who have no interest in working those jobs. And the people who would consider working those jobs are the same people those radical republicans are trying to ship out of the country.

Ok, see....I disagree.

Ethnic pride is not idiotic.  Ethnic pride at the expense of/over all others IS idiotic.

Just like patriotism is not idiotic.  But nationalism/exceptionalism at the expense of all others is idiotic.

Hell, it's one of the things I love about travelling: experiencing the pride of other people in who they are, where they come from, their culture and their ways.  It's a sense of identity and self, tied to land and community, and it's a good thing.  When it is part of you knowing how to appreciate ALL cultures and people in their own way - "hey, I'm a proud Texan, and like to show off football and bbq to visitors, and you're a proud German, and like to show off beer and wurst to visitors, we should party!" - it's a good thing.  When it leans into tribalism and subjugation/attacks on other cultures, it's a huge fucking negative.

Obviously, culturally, we're leaning in HARD on the "negative tribal bullshit" angle these days.  So I hear you.  But man, I love going to a Greek festival, a Polish festival, a Turkish festival, a pachanga, Chinese new year, all that shit.  It's cool to see people celebrating who they are.  And they enjoy sharing it with others.  That's the best of humanity.  That we often turn into the worst of humanity.

I thought the premise that I'm talking about American ethnic pride could be assumed. Someone in Mexico proud of their country, heritage, and polite culture is national pride. Pride in being Texan for similar reasons is state pride. They don't fall under the definition of ethnic pride. Arguably when a pale gringo like me goes to Mexico, I'm the ethnic one not the natives.

I was specific even if, evidently, unclear.

I would never call Rex MAGA, he's not. He's a centrist dumbfuck that has no idea what he's talking about on basically any issue that isn't related to his job and has no desire to learn, but he sure is certain that he's right.

I think he has a good heart and is having trouble coming to terms with the depth of the depravity of those who have commandeered what he probably considered his party from childhood. And I do think he is learning and this community is helping with that. He voted for Harris for Christ’s sake

His family, social circles, and business community don’t offer him a chance to engage honestly on these issues that he clearly is struggling with. I think some grace and empathy are warranted, especially given what set this off was so trivial

Are they still making Kirby vacuum cleaners back in your hometown? I always wondered how the hell some site selector made that decision way back in the day.

Yeah, as far as I know Kirby West is still up and running. A fair number of my classmates worked there for years after graduation (circa 2000ish) and managed to save up pretty good money.

Okay cool. Let’s have a non echo chamber discussion. Let’s start with two recent issues.

(A) It’s bad foreign relations for Trump to falsely accuse the South African president of white genocide by confronting him with photographs that aren’t of South Africa or white genocide.

(B) Noem was wrong when she said that habeus corpus means the president can deport anyone for any reason.

Response?

Let's take a look at his most recent posts, all of which are in the CR. None are substantive about Trump or his policies, but all are provocations against the community.

And if you are a Christian, which I know most of your aren’t, there’s also that little thing about praying for your enemies, loving your neighbor as you love yourself, etc. That shit is even more difficult

Donald Trump is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with American society. You couldn’t craft a better character to represent the societal equivalent of Type II diabetes in literature than this man.
Having him become president to drive the nail in our country’s coffin is almost too on the nose and reason #eleventy billion that we’re in a simulation.

he's so stunningly dumb. it would be hilarious if it weren't so terrifying. I learned fairly recently that there is actually a historical hierarchy for stupidity and the associated terms. For example, a moron is different than and idiot (I'll see if I can find what I am referencing). whatever the lowest and dumbest category is probably doesn't capture this fucking idiot

I'm guessing this all stems from this op-ed from the New York Post from April 5th: https://nypost.com/2025/04/05/opinion/harvard-univ-the-ivy-league-teaching-remedial-math/

Feels like Trump's bootlickers just pitch him on their fascist and racist ideas and he goes along with it.  He is a simple and stupid man, and any sycophant can easily convince him because all he needs is undying admiration and praise.

He accepted a $400 million dollar plane as a gift. He held a fundraiser gala last night, where the funds go into his pocket. They're kidnapping innocent people and sending them off to torture camps, permanently. Pretty sure dems feel that impeachment is a political loser, and wouldn't make a difference anyway (as we have seen), but Christ, at some point...

Moron, idiot and imbecile. But I don't remember which one is the dumbest.

Just looked up to confirm. Moron>imbecile>idiot. So our own Rex Tillerson was incorrect. Trump isn't a moron. He's a fucking idiot.

The hierarchy is as follows:

Moron-mental age 7-10

Imbecile-mental age 3-7

Idiot- mental age under 3.
