Here it starts. Consumers buying fewer goods, companies laying off employees, increasing reductions in manufacturing, and objective indicators the stock market won’t be able to continue to ignore. We had magical thinking and tariff delays keeping us afloat but that’s over.

My deep skepticism of magical thinking has me going all-in on crypto.

Affirmed in all other respects, though.  Told y'all that monetary part was likely excessive.

On appeal, it seems that the monetary award is characterized as "disgorgement," which means coughing up all ill-gotten gains, that is, all of the loan proceeds that were tainted by fraud.

I didn't catch that that was the nature of the remedy at the trial level.

It is unclear to me whether the disgorgement can be recalculated on retrial or not.  Its nature is usually "equitable," meaning entirely in the judge's discretion and not subject to a burden of proof, so that would seem to tend to mean that the judge is free to halve it or quarter it or otherwise reduce it.

I'm in this industry and know it very well.  This up there.  The tariffs really haven't hit yet for a long list of reasons.  They're starting now and it'll take a quarter or two for them to show up on the shelf for a long list of reasons.

Wall Street to me know is like after Bear went bust in 2008.  They thought it was no big deal.  Trump basically laid down a +15% tax on everything and they don't realize it's a big deal.

This is my shocked face.

That's just good old fashioned racism.

Yale Budget Lab, huh?

In the next week, look for some DOJ investigations into Yale and their various practices.

Would the Black Hand in this case be some frostbitten Canadian or a Mexican that's been making mole? You know what, don't tell me I'll wait and see what happens.

The only this will make a dent with the idiots is (1) if you do the math for them or (2) their bank accounts hit $0.  That's exactly why Trump lost his shit when rumors started going around that Amazon was going to show the tariff charge as a distinct line item. It's a shame this country is so stupid.

Interesting that Judge Box Wine said it’s ok to walk the streets of DC with rifles and shotguns.

Anyone who was around in the old Hornfans days knows how I feel about this subject. Certainly @softlynow can recall those discussions.

It’s fascinating to learn how distorted, incomplete, and misleading the story presented as orthodox Christianity really is. I mean, it’s obvious on its face that the narrative is nonsense. But what isn’t so obvious is just how inaccurate the Church’s autobiography is. And the fact that so few bother to look under the hood and challenge the basic ideas on which they base so much of their lives is depressing. There are so many lies to unravel; it feels like wack-a-mole.

So is this the imminent eschatology thread? If God has a sense of humor, I could see this being the beginning of the end times.

And Tom Segura, Sebastian Maniscalco, Anthony Jeselnik, Nate Bargatze, Eliza Shlesinger, Taylor Tomlinson, etc.  Standup comedy may not have a megastar like Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock right now, but there is a shit ton of good standup from the last 15 years, too.
