I don’t think that it is hyperbole to say that this past November was the last meaningful election we are going to have for a while.
The dissonance is really perplexing to me as we go on with our lives not really noticing the changes happening right in front of us.

As a kid I remember thinking how a country can so willingly go down a path like Germany did in the 30’s.  I see now.  It’s a slow creep which feeds on ignorance, apathy, and delusion.

And most people give no shits. I've probably been following along more closely than I should for my own sanity, but even bringing up the subject with people gets a laugh or an eye roll and they move on with their days. I don't think people have any idea what's coming. I can't even fully grasp how bad it can get. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not sure how we avoid it at this point.

Saw a clip earlier of Dotard saying "I can do whatever I want. I'm the president."

I swear there used to be a huge percentage of our population who were horrified at the prospect of this happening. It's like all they talked about. I wonder where they went.

“NO GESTAPO IN BASTROPO” turned into “WE WELCOME THE GESTAPO TO BASTROPO” in an instant.

Seems they were never worried about authoritarian presidents at all. They’re just scared of the negroes.

Should we expect most people to take it seriously if the opposition doesn't?

I don't know what I expect. None of us have ever been in this situation before.

My first thought when I saw that:

Those are poverty rates.  I can do murder rates for states next.  Well, I really don’t have to because almost state for state it’s the same fucking list.

It just needs to be enough to make Pulte tuck his nuts up and back down on this shit.  He's not in that class of billionaire asshole that can take on endless legal actions without it hurting.

Hold your horses there, cowboy.  You must understand -- all young people are lazy, unengaged social media junkies.  They couldn't be bothered to learn anything about our history or our system of government.

Well, as a really big advocate of history and all that it can teach us, I think looking right now at Italy in the 1920’s would be a good place to go to find a country that went through this. It’ll give you a good outline of what we will be seeing on the horizon.

It's been said that you could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. But what if the crime being looked at by the grand jury involves a ham sandwich?

Guess we found our answer.

A majority of GOP voters want Trump to have a third, unconstitutional term. A majority of Dems and Independents think he will seek one.

Tipping point past IMO.  The majority party has simply abandoned any pretense of wanting a constitutional order.

We were locked into this track the moment we failed to prosecute the fascist insurrection attempt. History is a pretty clear guide on that, despite how upset it makes most people to hear

I go back to that all the time. My one positive thought on 1/6 was that at least we were done with Trump. Just a massive failure at every level.

Why? It's not like anyone will stop him. The republican party will probably just name him emperor and SCOTUS will place the crown on his head (six of them at least).

More republicans think he SHOULD do it than think he WILL do it. Thats kind of horrifying.

Kinda goes along with the trend of Trump voters being really shitty people who like to play down how shitty he really is.

Mainly to see if this is really true.

Nothing at all good can come from an attempt to do something like this even if it is ultimately unsuccessful. Jan 6 out front should have told you.

I can remember saying that to someone on 1/6. “Well, at least this ends his political career.”
